OOO really did screw over new players on this one, the people who's ran it a million times in T4/T5 it's still no challenge to them.

They could however keep jelly's the way they are just tweak the palace a bit to give it balance (Seems to be all OOO does is tweak stuff, LOL)

Stick close to them, and learn to -properly- use a shield.

I see many newbies who just don't know when to use their shields, and some seemingly don't even know they exist.

The Jelly Palace needed it. It's supposed the hardest set of levels in Tier 2 (it has the Tier 2 boss) and it was far too easy.

The fact that other folks are recommending guarding/shielding demonstrates this. 2* players shouldn't be running the Jelly Palace unless they know what they're doing.

If you think the jelly palace shouldn't be very difficult for players in 2-3* gear, then clearly it was too easy previously.

Bosses are placed at the very end of a Tier, meaning you're likely to need a bit better gear than just the minimum to have access to that Tier.

When the Snarbolax was released they said something along the lines of, ''We recommend that you have 'mastery' of Tier 1 before fighting him''. Because bosses are -not- for total beginners, nor those with little experience of the particular enemies of the area.

Jelly King is a Tier 2 boss, however it's recommended that you be in 3~4* before setting foot in his levels unless you know what you're doing, but knowing what you're doing really only applies to the stages, not Jelly King himself as being poorly equipped will still spell the end for you. So what they said about Snarbolax also applies to every other boss in the game: Only attempt them after feeling you've got the proper skills and equipment.

Learn to run around so the spikes never hit you and spam alchemer :P

But yeah, actually using a shield also helps. I still don't fully feel the floor spikes timing, but i am getting there.

idk - I have a char who has a troika, blaster, wolver cap / coat, and an owlite shield, all 2* eqiups.

I can do everything except jelly king on him.

So I think this is more of a "l2p" thing... You don't take damage if you don't get hit, which should ALWAYS be your first line of defense.

Tier 2 Dark City (and fiends in general) is still a ton harder than Jelly Palace. I can't solo Tier 2 Plazamonium with 5* gear but Jelly is still very doable without dieing. Although I should get a piercing armor now. :P

The spikes aren't too hard to deal with, just keep running toward the jellies and they will miss. :P This works well with a hit-and-run charge attack strategy. (I use Nightblade line btw.)

I also find it much easier solo now than in a party, in addition to the less lag and you can better predict the spikes.

Only beef I have with the spike attack is it could use a longer and more visible warning...

Anyways, 2-3 armor is what tier 2 is supposed to be for, no? I would consider someone with all 3 star armor to have mastered the tier. With 4-5 star, tier 2 is just easy.

And as for the Snarbolax, well, the Snarbolax is just easy. Any experienced gamer could do that with 0 star gear.

I find the rest of tier 2 very easy, all the monsters (except these spiky jellies) give ample warning of attack, and are very predictable.

btw, how many of you replying have actually tried it with 2-3 star gear? If no, then at least give it a try so you can see from my perspective.

Yes, the same applies for -all- monsters: You always have a chance of being hit. You get hit far less when you learn enough tactics to avoid attacks while still dealing them out.
Also, how long you play doesn't necessarily mean you're any skilled at something. Practice makes perfect, but some people need to practice far more than others before they get good.

2* is the -minimum- for the Tier itself, but 2* is -not- recommend for Jelly King as the boss levels plus the bosses themselves are meant to be harder than normal levels found on that Tier. The recommended gear is 3*+ for Jelly King, and even then it's also recommended you fight him in a decent group. Soloing a boss is obviously possible but it's not recommended.

Jelly Cube spikes also give ample warning before attacking, however some players don't pay enough attention to their surroundings to notice it, or they just lag (Though this isn't Three Rings' fault). A crack in the ground comes up, a second later a spike comes out, that's just like Retrode attacks, so why not complain about those also? A Retrode fires a beam that does no damage, then it's immediately followed by a beam that does damage, and a lot of players don't have enough time to react to this. Strategy for that? Don't stay in front of them while they're firing. Strategy for Jelly Cubes? Stay close enough to them so they don't even use their spike attack.

Other people have noticed no problems in other threads similar to this very unoriginal one, and they were using 2~3* gear.

Equipment doesn't make as much difference as skill does, which is why even on my alt character, when using Proto gear still, was able to easily solo entire Danger Rooms and Arenas. By the sounds of it the only way I can get a view from your perspective is if I somehow drop down in skill.

I'm pretty happy Jelly Palace isn't a walk in the park anymore.

2* gear is for the first half of T2.
3* gear is for the second half. you need to level it for it to be most effective there.
4*/5* gear is for T3. It's as strong on level 1 as it is on level 10 in T2.

I did about half as much damage with a 2* weapon as I did with a leveld 3* weapon (or just 4*/5* weapons) in jelly stages last time I tried stuff out.
so basically, get 3* gear and level it and you are near the optimum for jelly king. Stat wise. But 2* weapons perform really bad there.

edit: and I'm totally supporting everything that makes the most crown generating place harder to access. (I still dont like spikes on jelly cubes for esthetic reasons ;_;)

Not 3*+, just 3* is supposed to be what T2 is designed for. 4 people with tempered caliburs should find the Jelly King about the same as 4 people with 1* swords would find Snarbolax, and I really don't think it is. I don't have any complaints with making the palace itself harder, but the boss fight should be achievable with bog standard 3* weapons and without amazingly good use of vials. Heaven forbid even reduce the crowns there, it's the tokens that you can't get elsewhere!

And vanaduke should be as easy as snarbolax with 5* equip too right?

Just don't dare to compare anything to snarbolax because he's made for people who are new to the game. Even if snarbolax took half your health per hit his difficulty would be insultingly low.

I think it's a good thing as the jelly king runs were easier than normal runs. Now people at least gotta have skill to do the more rewarding boss run

I just hope that Royal Palace getting harder will stop people from basically just running JK then all those people complaining about no content will actually start getting to the actual content. This isn't WoW and we aren't chinese gold farmers.

It shouldn't be AS easy, but it should be roughly in proportion, as it was the boss fight itself made a Stratum 4 Flame Arena look like Floor 1 Jigsaw Valley in terms of party wipe potential. The preceding levels needed a difficultly bump, but I still think the boss fight is too hard. It seems bad that the people who WANT the tokens are forced to grind the first two levels of the palace to get good enough gear to be able to face him, by which point they don't need the tokens so badly any more.

You do realize this basically means you are burned out on the game and all that is left for you is mindless grind? Just helping you here, the sooner you realize this, the better.

I play this game because basic levels are fun for me, because killing stuff gives me the jollies. I am not playing so that my virtual account grows. That's what real life jobs are for.

I never liked clockworks tunnels. (edit: the things with the gear icon; also not liked by me:devilish drugery, gremlin stages that aren't demolition zone)
And I stopped playing kind of. I like dropping by in a jk/vana run tho if I happen to log on for some reason, and someone is doing one.
also "burned out" is a bit of a euphemism for "ran out of things that seem beneficial" the way you use it.

edit: also there's nothing to grind in this game. which is a nice touch in a way.

Jeez Loki, that was just rude. Very funny, that last bit. Anyways, it seems the majority are in favor of these monstrosities. Anywho, it is difficult to argue with all of you at once. I suppose I am merely not used to these terrible new jellies. I shall just have to suffer and die, like a wilting flower, while the rest of you wallow in ease.

Come to think of it, I mainly actually only dislike the spikies cause they replaced old jellies. To be honest, I only did one run with them. And yes, there are already topics about this whole thing, but if there are lots of them it makes more debate, which is good, from my point of view, because I do not like these jellies. If they dropped more crowns, on the other hand, I would be appeased.

indeed the spikey jellies are an eyesore to me and the spikes are cheap with lag. it's sad they don't want people to use full combos of their swords anywhere.

These new falling wheels and fire have ruined it for people who aren't above tier 4 already. Unless you use some tactics that will take a really long time, it is waaay too difficult for 4-5 star gear like seraphic armor. First off, they are spiky. Second, the wheels are really random, and sometimes I get hit even when I think I'm in a safe spot. It's so unpredictable, especially with other monsters around and with the large groups of them in the Firestone Citadel, it's really hard to defend against. I understand the need for variety, like gremlins, but these is just terrible. If the whole floor lighted up so you could see the wheels coming 3 seconds ahead of time, rather than wheels just coming down, it would be much better. Also, why make it more difficult with fire? If people want difficulty, what was the point of making the tiers in the first place, separating them from higher levels? It is very unbalanced now, and I liked it much better with no falling wheels and fire in the way. That is all.

But..but.. the falling wheels and fire made it FUN. It was the only thing that set Vanaduke runs apart from a T3 Fire arena.

I wish they introduced places for that charge to be usable or for it to be just remade.

I enjoyed the slight advantage of sometimes using full combo of a heavy sword over 2 hit shield cancel versus slimes. (movement, wider arc, more damage, higher knockback/crowd control; actually nice to use it when you can hit all the slimes without one jumping out of line to wobble at you) now I dont think it's particularly practical anywhere anymore. Slimes just loiter around till they feel like spiking you at random.

Nice for you to think it's fun they are equally useless now. ;_;
