A friend and I had a talk about ideas regarding dual wielding and how to account for implementation, controls, some mechanics, significance, essential animations that have to carry out before other becomes available, and other stuff. And while I am not all too wild about the idea, I contributed to the conversation nonetheless for however brief a period it was. Something recently occurred to me.

If dual wielding were to occur while being inclusive of all weapon types (I could not imagine) then how would one act when dual wielding bombs? XD

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

that's actually one of the problems with dual wieding, and why one of the few "good" ideas about it is to not make normal weapons dual wield but to make a new type of weapon.

Nick wanted to make it where you'd just have a new set of "dual wielded weapons". I think this would be really disappointing to a lot of people.

If they wanted to make a "dual wield mode" of some sort, I'm sure they could do something involving stats and the removal of the weapon switch period. For instance, you'd get asi high + damage high + ctr high added to all of your weapons, but you'd have literally no shield and instead would have a single weapon equipped as a shield. But I don't think this is in the cards, especially given the existing content and how quickly they produce it.

Dual wielding is possible idea, but we would need to get shieldblade. Some levels are not finishable without shield and you may get stuck (For example one piece in compound, where perma freeze wisp move in 3 blocks only)

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

I've made a thread on the topic not too long ago. Checks timestamp. Oh, a year old, already!? Well, feel free to necro that thread if you have something meaningful to add or critique. I'll probably respond.

(Just don't needlessly bump it! >.<)

No one said anything about removing shields. I mean, look at them. You don't hold them, they're hovering above/strapped to your arm (saying the latter because frack it, hovering isn't all that). It's even noticeable with the Nightblade line, since you hold the sheath with the same hand you're supposedly holding your shield with.

Oh dear...

Dual wielding threads show up too often in the suggestions forum. If it were to be its own weapon line, great - it could be balanced like any other weapon. If it were to be another playstyle of the current game, so many things would be needlessly broken. Bombs are a good example, especially since you charge them above your head with both hands.

My only thoughts on this would be to have new weapons, or have a parrying blade shield that would counter-attack when it takes damage or something, or perhaps attack when you use shield bash. If you're going to replace the shield with a weapon, make that weapon a counter-attack weapon and not another primary weapon.
