I mean, they can't raise forever, right? Why are people even raising their prices like that?
I can't afford those eternal orbs now, 8,600 cr is absurd u.u

I actually can, I'm just refusing to.

energy for boxes and sparks of life?

Perhaps players are buying Winterfest prize boxes and/or Sparks of Life (to survive the daily missions)? These cost energy in the Supply Depot. So the value of energy relative to other commodities (namely crowns) has gone up.

If this explanation is correct, then you can expect prices to decline after Winterfest ends.

whenever who is putting up the wall gets bored or it ends up selling through (might take a while if there are fewer reasons to sell)

I am boycotting the CE market also

I could always depend on the market dying (dipping to 6500-7000) after events, but no longer is that the case, it seems. I have boycotted the CE market since July, and will continue to do so. I may never get CE again for quite a long time as the player pool is apparently diminished so that now a relative few are in control. (Well, just my thought.) I'll just hoard crowns until that great day returns when Ce is at 6,500 (in 2020).

I think someone is

I think someone is monopolizing the market and whenever they get on, they buyout small offers and reset to their price walls with profit margin from buying and selling.

The only way such high prices can be sustained is if there's a shortage of people selling energy. If more people wanted to sell energy (which they bought with their real money) for crowns, supply would outstrip demand and they'd have to lower their asking price. That guy's "wall" wouldn't hold up long at all.

There you go. You now have a reason to ask all your pay-2-play friends to start playing this game.

I don't get it either.Energy

I don't get it either.

Energy prices should be sinking from hoarding, the gunner update, and Winterfest.

On top of that, plenty of kids are playing now from winter break. There should be a surge of demand to play the game and supply of energy. Unless there are tons of people who are cashing out for Steam's game sale, it doesn't make any sense.

Heck, you can't even buy the expansion on sale. It still costs 3200 energy in game.

I mean I'm as skeptical of

I mean I'm as skeptical of SK's longevity as the next guy, but these events are a decent effort to revive the game. The energy supply should be expanding faster than usual right now.

As Smalltownguy said, people just aren't selling it like they used to. We need more people selling to lower the prices down.

mist gone perhaps?

I know this isn't 100% procent relevant to the question asked, but i think it should be noted aswell.
Because Mist got removed from the game, we can spam floors in the clockworks. This means that we can 'technically' get infinite crowns.
Because of this, it would be natural for the CE prices to be higher then they used to be, because getting crowns is way easier then it used to be. (unless you pay them with IRL money).
Unless a miracle is going to happen, i think it's simply impossible for the prices to be 7,000 crowns or lower per 100 CE. Sure, i hate it too, but we just have to live on i guess.
I kinda think of it as a trade. three rings gave us the ability to spam floors as much as we want, but in return the prices of CE shall become much higher. Maybe one day they will lower down again....

also, i have a question to ask myself. It evolves around beggars. Since mist got removed, i suspected that the beggars would decrease, mainly cause, well.... you can spam floors, obviously.
But instead of that, it occurs to me that it has risen! it has never happend to me that i go to haven without at least 1 person begging me if they could get crowns or CE. Does anyone know what to do with that?
(Sure, you can be like, just 'ignore' them and be done with it, but i don't like doing that as much. I think it is the only option i have left though :/)
For the rest, i think for as of now, we just have to farm more to get our CE because we got the ability to do so now.

May this problem be solved one day! Although that would be quite tough.

Who ever controls the spice, controls the seasonings

OOO completely controls the Energy:Crown ratio with the base price of Energy.
If you get more Energy per dollar, Energy would become cheaper on the exchange.
Trouble is, aside from costume boxes, there hasn't really been any Energy promos.

Nor is there any real reason to buy Energy except to just completely bypass grinding, which is all you'd be doing whether you buy energy or not.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

ciardha, what you said it true, but the prices of ce haven't gone up, they're still around 7-7.5kcr even after mist was removed. everyone had that same frame of mind just before the update hit, but in the end it kind of falls flat to facts.
as for beggars, the fact they didn't have mist to play was more of an excuse than an actual thing. beggars will keep on existing even if OOO decides to give us 1000ce per day.

Sup guys!

That is how I deal with beggar.

Begger: gimmeh moniesss plzzzzzzzzzzz
Me: Hey, Begger! I will give you free money/ce. Meet me at haven x I will join you there in a sec.
Begger is joining haven x.
/me applauds.

A guy was asking for 100ce yesterday. I made him move to 5 different havens. He was PMing me and I was like "Oh? You are at haven x? I'm at haven y...", etc. He finally came back to the first haven and realized he got trolled. I gave him 100ce for beeing good sport.

The end.

My point of view

ciardha, what you said it true, but the prices of ce haven't gone up, they're still around 7-7.5kcr even after mist was removed. ~Thunder-The-Bright

Not really. CE was always around 6.5-7k crowns when mist was still there. When mist got removed, it stayed the same for a couple of months. Even though it surprisingly went slowly, the prices of CE did went up. Just looked at the CE price in the supply depot while writing this: 8,140 crowns. When mist was still a thing something must have been broken for it to be that price. It definitely went up, no way not seeing that. and about the beggars thing, yeah your right. they shall always exist unfortunately :/

@Spiral-Market; sure, but he's going to keep PMing and coming back and be even more annoying then when he first asked. it only makes things worse. And you did gave him the CE he asked for in the end, not really helping. :/

definitely false

CE was always around 6.5-7k crowns when mist was still there.

That is definitely false. Before release 2013-07-30, I saw energy prices vary between about 5,000 to over 9,000. Prices were surprisingly volatile for the first year or two of the game.

That's why when players start these threads about "look what's happening to the energy market!", my initial response is always "is something happening to the energy market?"
