Eternal Orbs?

Well 1-2 years ago, I used to farm Rotting Metropolis for 5* Orbs.
Then I stopped playing Spiral Knights for a really long period, but now its been a month since I've started again.

I tried out some Rotting Metropolis on Elite mode and I got nothing?
I did it at least a decent 10 times and so far I've gotten no 5* Orbs?

Ever since I stopped, did I miss out on any update which changed the 5* orb drop rates or am I farming in the wrong place?
Also could you guys please recommend me some good places to farm Eternal Orbs?

All of tier 3 will get you eternal orbs and at a faster rate than it'll get you radiant fire crystals- so aim for lots of boxes + near the core.

frequently asked question

How to find orbs is a frequently asked question. My prepared answer, including links to data sets and other advice, is here. Good luck.

That's a really good topic..

Well..

I only noticed myself gathering Eternal orbs more frequently when I had a full party of T3.

The difficulty for enemies is raised and the chance for better drops jumps. I also think your rank matters..
When I was a champion with the same gear I was getting squat..

Now I get 1-3 on average with a full breakdown through Levels concerning T3 settings.

I was getting discouraged on finding the orbs for a second there. I suppose these factors make a difference.

I hope I've aided anyone with these rookie words. Since I just recently noticed.. And I have been playing for a very, very long time..

Kind of sad but it happened.

doubt it

You are right that difficulty affects treasure. However, party size does not seem to affect treasure. For crowns and spark tokens this has been clearly demonstrated here. Orbs and other rarities drop from treasure boxes, not monsters, and treasure boxes don't increase with party size. It's conceivable that treasure per box increases with party size, but I really doubt it.
