obligatory

For defense: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/User:Jdavis/Armor#Shadow_Lairs.

For offense: If I recall correctly, Darkfire Vanaduke is immune to freeze. So leave your Shivermist Buster at home. Otherwise I've brought the usual high-damage weapons, as in regular FSC. There are a lot of howlitzers, so you should be able to dodge their heads, or shoot them if you like.

I haven't done SFSC in a while, so don't be surprised if someone shows up with better advice. Cheers.

My easy set up:

Black Kat Set/Chaos Set
Swiftstrike Buckler

2x Penta trinkets

Combuster
Nova Driver
Shivermist Buster(if you have an organized party that knows how abuse shivering spawns) / Storm or Hail Driver
Blitz Needle

Yeah I know what yall' thinking', but I'm a Veteran... What can I say lol?

lol but playing glass cannon is too hard for me, especially since I am under-skilled and play with Australian ping. are they like immune to freeze or just immune from the back? I'm sort of looking for a set with some bonuses but not too weak defensively so maybe a mix of 2 sets?

well

You've already been told what the threats are: normal, shadow, and elemental damage, and fire and curse status. So now you look at a list of armor (here or here, say), and make a list of candidates, and then ask us about them. Help us help you.

Jdpan
ok I've done some digging in

ok I've done some digging in the armour. armor of the fallen + vog (no curse resis). divine mantle + vog (no normal). im not sure lol, that's why i came for some recommendations from the more experienced

okay

Right. The only kind of armor that hits all of your notes (except for normal) is Divine. I wouldn't ever wear both pieces, because of the lack of normal protection. And I wouldn't get the Mantle. I'd get the Veil, which has a fiend bonus.

For your other armor piece, you want either curse resistance (probably Deadshot and Radiant Silvermail) or fire resistance (numerous options). I'd say that the fire resistance is more important. So Vog Cub, or Perfect Mask of Seerus, or Firefly, or whatever matches your weapons.

I assume that you're experienced in Firestorm Citadel. Which weapons do you use there? Do you find any part of it difficult?

Here's a trick, that partially explains why curse resistance isn't crucial. Suppose that your most important weapons (or pickups) are cursed. Then go stand in some carnavon (curse zombie) breath. You won't take damage, but you will get re-cursed, which resets which of your weapons are cursed. In this way, you can choose how you get cursed, somewhat.

If I were to downgrade, I'd opt for my,

Divine Veil (Max Curse UV)
Chaos Cloak

2x Penta Trinks

Sprite Perk: Fire/Curse/Life

Combuster
Blitz Needle
Nova Driver
Argent Peacemaker

I go a bit tanky in there and use
Chaos Cowl
Volcanic Plate Mail
Swiftstrike Buckler (to help with the ASI reduction)
after I found out when I get hit in there it's not usually something I would've shielded anyway or I'm busy charging, etc.

I used to use Divine Veil/Shadowsun before.

Firefly shade armor might be useful, although I haven't tried it in there.

Weapons are the same as FSC: Voltedge, AP, Blitz, Electron Vortex. (or see other FSC threads but you probably have something that works for you already)

and damage trinkets & curse perk.

Having additional weapon slots is better than loading up on curse resistance. I think you can be at -1 and still have a slot open if you have 4 weapons.

PS: Darkfire Vanaduke is only immune to minor freeze, you can still freeze him with hail driver/etc or vials (not that effective, I know).

Thanks for clearing that up, Flowchart.

alright

I think im either gunna go divine veil + vog or divine veil + chaos. To answer ur question Bopp, I normally use AP, Glacius, Blitz/flourish depending on my party (dont have a 4th slot). I'm slightly hesitant to use chaos in shadow vana, as I already said, because I'm not very good. Thanks for all the suggestions so far though :) Also should I be using COA or owlite?

shield

Also should I be using COA or owlite?

In ordinary FSC I'd say Grey Owlite Shield (if not Barbarous Thorn Shield or Swiftstrike Buckler). Most of the shadow damage is from zombies, who are easy to dodge. But in SFSC I'd pick Crest of Almire over Grey Owlite Shield. There's a lot of howlitzer fire in there.

You're welcome for the help. Have a good trip.

I like your choices.

Damage is probably more important than fire resist. You'll likely die in Vog if you have no trinkets anyways, so fire resistance is obsolete if you ask me for your situation with that dreadful ping. You'll need the CTR and DMG. What people don't think about is that the quicker you charge you brandish, the more you become out of harms way temporarily. You apply both CTR and DMG bonus results defense and offensive approach instead of beating around the fiery pits ready for you rubber band to snap you into the death pits with your so called Vog armor. Use Heath Perk from your sprite to bide time while you are burning to use remedy/health pills.
