Given that the game has received an engine update, pvp map editor and some extra tweaks - I'm hopeful for a few lil' goodies to come in later down the line and as such here's my 'bucket list' of suggestions that I'd love to personally see in the game:
- Arcade and Gameplay Loop
- Reintroduction of gate contribution system - I'd personally love to see community involvement in building of the arcade gates. However, as we currently have sprites that use our lovely crystal, we might need a separate resource to not end up in a situation where newer players will have to choose between empowering their sprites or contributing towards arcade gates that they want to play.
- Personal arcade gates - Same as above, but personally crafted arcade gate. If we ever get that, the amount of resources required to build a personal gate should be significantly higher. Personal gates should be temporary or trigger a random shift after X amount of floors completed (think PoE2 temples?)
- Main story missions should give rewards only once - The plague of vana/other boss focused runs really killed the experience for me personally. Players should be able to replay the completed story missions, but should receive no drops on subsequent runs. This includes boss tokens, prize boxes etc.
- Default difficulty tweaks - The higher in difficulty you go, the less leniency there should be. Emergency revive shouldn't be available on difficulties above advanced. There should be more monster spawns the higher you go with the difficulty.
- Arcade rewards rebalance - If the replayability of main story missions is killed, the arcade should be rebalanced to offer similar cr/h rewards. This should not account for resource drops even though most players could just sell them.
- Alchemy and forge shards - This is a personal pain point, imo orbs should be rebalanced like this:
- 1* available from strata 1 only
- 2* available from strata 1 (very rare) and 2
- 3* available from strata 2 (very rare), 3 and 4 (uncommon)
- 4* available from strata 4 , 5 and 6 (very rare)
- 5* available from strata 5 (very rare) and 6
The goal is to rebalance progression for newer players and allow veterans to have an easier time target farming 4* orbs of alchemy and 5* crystals. This, however, might cause issues with the 5* orbs later down the line if it were to be implemented.
- Every zone should have a chance to generate event rooms - Another personal pain point of mine. It feels awful having to run a D19 over and over during events to farm event tokens. It'd be great if we could have anniversary themed rooms in candlekeep for example.
- Strong chase rewards available from every monster family - There's currently no reason to run Beasts, Constructs, Fiends, Gremlins (if you do not account for DFS) and Undead monster families (this is not accounting for events). Slimes offer a chance to drop slime coins which can save you some cr in the casinos, but even then - it's not worth target farming Slimes either. That's all monster families that currently do not offer anything interesting for players to target farm. We could use rare monster spawns that are missing from Fiend, Beast and Gremlin to render a bunch of 'yooo, that's cool' moments during arcade runs. Which brings me to another point.
- More unique and rare monster spawns! - I'd love to see a happy klepto just following you around, not trying to steal items and instead may drop something cool. Imagine if the mewkat had a chance to drop an 'imitation key' that could open any container for free (probably with few limitations), or the said friendly klepto guaranteeing a gear drop with a random UV (given its rarity, it'd be only fair) or straight up UV tickets. The sky's the limit, we've got a bunch of monsters that could have a rare spawn equivalent as each monster family doesn't have to have only 1 rare spawn.
- Danger mission optional rooms - Should be free to access and offer additional challenges for everyone for some extra goodies.
- Non-linear progression through arcade - Personal gripe of mine, some floors just feel too linear, I'd love if there were additional elevators that act as random danger floors with new layouts and additional rewards.
- Current system and Haven changes
- Straight up delete blueprint vendors from the Hall of Heroes - "Back in my day, some of us used to trade using blueprints!" I feel like this was a nice QoL at the expense of a small part of the economy back in the day. I doubt that it'd recover with this change (as we do not get many new players), but I don't think that it should stay. This also gives Basil back their purpose.
- More event presence - I'd love to see more event presence all across Haven instead of just 2 NPCs placed below the fountain, with an occasional change to the default theme and/or some basic decor thrown here and there. This could also extend to the presence of seasons matching real world seasons.
- Merge all Haven maps into one - I think that Timmy will be able to run the entirety of Haven.
- Haven incentives/Community contributions - Imagine if you as a part of the community had to contribute to refurbish a part of Haven, succeeding in which gives everyone a buff to XYZ.
Give players limited choices on what they want to spend money on. Any bygone boxes being available could have an option to open for energy or something farmable in-game (being late to the party shouldn't punish players that want some cool cosmetics).
That's all that I can think of at midnight my time whilst a lil' inebriated. Anything else comes to mind, will put it in the list. Also happy to put your suggestions in and I'd love to hear from someone over at GH, though I doubt that anyone will willingly acknowledge any of this.
