Shield/Armor w/ a Shadow Defense UV: Will it get bigger if you Upgrade the Item?

If I have a Shield or Armor with a Shadow Defense UV, say Medium, will it get bigger if I Upgrade that item into the next level or not?

Yep, the length of the bar increases with star level.
