Compound 42 Feedback

Here are my issues with this mission

1) The difficulty of this mission is binary. It's either impossible if you don't have gear granting you immunity to the poison/fire pools or it's incredibly easy if you do have immunity. There's nothing skill based about this mission, which is what I understood danger missions were supposed to be, it's entirely a gear check.

2) There's way way too much oil, it's impossible to avoid it leading to issue 1, and it becomes impossible to actually see anything in the level once fires are lit.

3) Without the poison/oil pools the oilgels are incredibly weak, their attacks only do a couple pips of damage.

4) This mission just seems like a scheme to make players invest in an otherwise terrible set of armor.

1. This is a danger mission.

1. This is a danger mission. It may require a different set of gear. The developers didn't sit down when they made this game and go "Okay. So we need to make every content doable with Vog Cub and swords."

2. They recently updated this mission by nerfing a few things. It was ridiculously difficult before, but now (and at the time of your post) it is reasonable. From updated feedback, people are only dying 3 times now throughout the whole mission assuming you are doing things right and have the right gear, and that is without abusing the immunity to oil tactic.

>>A. Have you learned the content? Are you doing your best to keep the Oilgels from getting lit by focus firing Gremlin Scorchers? Are you then taking out Polyps and Oilgels that are lit? Are you kiting and making sure to kite Oilgels away from any fire source?

3. There is definately things skill based about this mission. Are you avoiding literally every avoidable attack that there is? Not that you have to, but if you are not, than you have no excuse to say it isn't skill based. If you are getting hit by avoidable attacks, try learning them and avoiding them. This will take more than one run through.

4. It is very difficult to see things when oil is lit. The way we solve this issue is by taking out and getting rid of everything we can which might light the Oilgels or oil. We do this by killing Gremlin Scorchers the very second they spawn.

The mission is by no means binary, the devs have balanced it.

I call myself a normal player, and I managed to solo the mission with 3 revives and so have other people, 2 of my revives because I got hit by avoidable attacks. However, most likely unlike you, I ran through it a good 5 times in order to learn the content instead of getting upset once I couldn't /win the very first time I walked in there then complained on the forums. And as I said earlier, we aren't even abusing the immunity to oil issue.

1. The problem with that is

1. The problem with that is this is a skill based game. That is why the wolver series is so popular, because good players aren't taking damage so the defenses most armors provide are meaningless. You can call wolver armor "herpderp FSC gear" all you like but it doesn't change that fact that the players wear it because it's the best armor for skilled swordsmen.

2. Congratulations on rez zerging through the mission? I managed that on my first playthrough. Unless you can do it without immunities with no revives you can't really say it's balanced.

3. With immunities the mission is no more difficult than a normal tier 3 level, without immunities it's impossible to make it through without dying due to unavoidable attacks. Sounds pretty binary to me.

4. Oil catching fire in this level is unavoidable. If scorchers were the only source if ignition you might have an argument but you don't.

Nice ad hominem. If you're going to attack someone for leaving feedback perhaps you shouldn't be allowed access to the test server?

You know, just to having

When I want a challenge, I want something fun with puzzles and an army of enemy and turrets making my heart pump as I stare death in the face. What I prose is we do something else with the oil. Let's turn it into like... it'll make us slide across the room or maybe slow our speed while also being able to be ignited on fire. imo tho but ya idk. Look at LoA, it is vry fun & heart-pumping. what can you do to a poison content? Oilers & turrets & scrochers?

I THINK that what most of us want is for the monsters to be a challenge like those slag guards knights in LoA who attack us with their flourish-like-lancers. in which making the other enemies a threat but idk. I'm bad at trying to say what i want to say lol.

You didn't read my post, Aurorra. I said that we only died 3 times, we didn't rez zerg. I also said that we did NOT abuse the immunity to oil bug.

And obviously, if it isn't cakewalk FSC for everyone, then there will always be complainers who aren't willing to learn content.

Learn to kite Oilgels out of fire. Learn to not stand in fire. Quit saying it isn't skill based when you are doing things wrong to the point that you have to complain about it being impossible where the rest of us normal people are only dying 3 times.

And I was using Shadowsun / Dragon scale mix, WITHOUT abusing the immunity to oil bug as I said earlier. You can do it in Vog Cub too.

I *totally* agree with

I *totally* agree with Aurorra.

Saying this mission is skill-based is... meh... trolling? Joking?

Seriously, with fire immunity only (because... seriously... you suggest not to use fire immunity there?) I went completely reckless. Like in tier 1. And I'm not exagerating. I used my gran faust like tier 1, without shielding. I just standed far from fire machines and traps. So... really this is completely skill-less.

I always find the sentence

I always find the sentence "without abusing immunity". Oh lol... is it denied? The hell... the new mission looks made on purpose to make you craft a new set and you can't use it in your opinion? ABUSING? Lol? Is it a bug? Is it gonna be fixed? ABUSING? Why? We risk to get banned if we do? I weared vog cub... and at that point is really *NONSENSE* not to wear a fire trinket.

They should just make it

They should just make it impossible to be immune to the oil. That way people could actually play the mission the way it was INTENDED to be played.

This is the only area where you can become immune to a status in PVE, I don't know why anyone would assume that is intended.

How can you be so sure they

How can you be so sure they intended the mission should be play without immunity? I'm just wondering, I'm sorry, I don't want to seem bad, but... isn't it possible that they just did it on purpose?

Would you like a pat on the

Would you like a pat on the back Rawrcake? Making it through the mission with three resses isn't some incredible feat. My first time through I went with vog, no immunities and managed to complete it with about three resses, but I don't consider that a success. When I say "impossible" I mean it's impossible to do the mission without res zerging through it, which you have just stated you needed to do. If the mission is balanced correctly it should be possible to do it without resorting to immunites or CE revives.

Also, immunities are a bug now? The ability to become immune to certain status afflictions isn't something that was just introduced on the test server, it's been around since the start of the game.
