Personally I think its a mechanic that stops trojans from trapping people in corners and just killing them.

It works for all guns, blitzing the shield will give you lots of room to move. (if trapped)

Works for all guns and swords; plinking a Trojan's shield will move him backward and outta the way. (Bombers get the short end of the stick, we gotta waste a Vial.)

Yeah they did this to stop people getting trapped in corners by Trojans.
Guns knockback Trojans a bit. I've used them a bit to squirm out of corners a few times.
