When the core finally opens...

It would be great if it was chock full of the beta monsters that were removed, because they were "too difficult" to fight against. Along with a couple of other new ones to make a variety. Creatures like the tortodrone, slooms, vog cub. Creatures and maps that are totally alien to what we experience everyday. Sure the very old players would know how to beat them, but they're a dying breed and you could always add changes to them. This whole area would look totally different. It would have elavators that are just pads of pure light that would take you down instead of elavators made from the Spiral order and machinery and beasts that didn't exist eons ago with powers unheard of pulsing with small doses of power from what powers the core.

Maybe add in new status effects that knights would have resistance against. Something like "foreshadowment" which makes black blots appear on the screen at random for a short time so it's hard to see what's going on, especially around turret towers shooting projectiles you have to avoid. Another could be "corrosion", a water themed affect, where either the your sheild or one of your weapons becomes useless for a set time. Maybe even add a new type of damage that would be critical since no armor would protect against it. Something like "cosmic" with a blue attack icon (to finally match all the colors from what you see on the minerals.)

And of course something like this would need a killer boss at the end. I can just imagine the whole set of missions devoted to reaching the core after vangaurd and beating the shadow lairs. The storyline would be something like the gremlins decided to help knights in an awkward alliance to open up the core. There would be missions where knights must retreive certain parts and equipment from unkown parts of the clockwork where only the gremlins know of. When they finally open it up the gremlins turn on the knights and get a headstart to explore the core which begins a race between gremlins and knights to obtain the ultimate source of power found in the center of the core.

I can imagine right when your squad is about to reach the end, King Tinkinzar comes up with a beaten up squad of gremlins, snatches it before your eyes and begins to brag about how he'll (mis)use the power. Once he's done bragging the whole scene looks like there will begin a battle between both beaten up teams when suddenly I gigantic machine, something like the core's "ultimate gaurdian" attacks the gremlins with single blast which sends them out of the picture and then you fight it after the short 10 second cutscene of its appearance.

The last things I'd like to add is that it would be scary tough with no heart restorations before the boss fight AND if all knights fall in the middle of the battle this "gaurdian" will simply kick out everyone before there is a revive. (You can only revive as long as someone is still on their feet.) The only advantage that should be given for exploring such a deadly place is to grant a squad to have more than just the 4 person limit, but actually have an 8 member squad that can meet up right outside the core. Something like a full lockdown team to give it a go in what would ordinarily be impossible to just one person. It would at least be requirement that you can't go down without a full squad. Whatever players that aren't there to fill the party will be given over to comp knights to accompany you. If a player leaves while in the core, his/her place won't be replaced with a knight since you passed the checkpoint. (You'd probably be given 7 comp knights, but who would want to do that just to go it alone? You'd be better off with a team.)

I think the center of the core should be something so extremely hard it gives the well-experienced players a scare, but the ultimate prize at the end to be worth it. Something so hard and advanced that it would probably takes months after it comes out for some lucky party to make it. people would play it regardless of how tough it is or not, because no one would know what would be beyond it. It the curiosity for to discover the unkown and be the first one to claim it out from everyone else. It would be the climax of everything where extremes from one end meet extremes on the other end and collide into something unimaginable.

And when the core is finally opened, the game could still go forward by exploring the inner depthes of different planets, or what's on the surface of this one, but that's a conversation for a different thread.

(Sorry for the long read. I just felt like pouring my brain out.)

I only skimmed it, but there's a problem...

This is an "end". MMO's do not have ends. If they have ends, especially if the games are like SK and don't have much in the way of "side quests", then everyone beats the game and leaves. We don't want that.

And, supposedly Tinkizar built Cradle and the Clockworks. Why would he want in to the core?

The papaya thinks............

Well, they'd probably release this update (or something similar) somewhere near the end of the game, when the developers can't support it anymore :(

@Noklip

Actually Noklip. I'm fairly sure that he's talking about an ending to missions. And there already is an end to the missions. It's called rank 9-3. So technically the game did end. And you still see a ton of people right? That's because there's still the Arcade, Lockdown, & Blast Network. Trust me. OOO's is going to end the missions and end the story line. But they'll probably focus on promotions, balancing, and etc until then. After all that they'll improve the options after you've beaten the game. You both need to realize that OOO's has a lot to work on before they can even touch this stuff. It also helps to actually tell OOO's every aspect of what you want them to put in the game. Not the coding. But the mechanics of everything and how it will work.

This "end" that you speak of?

Did anyone else catch the second to last line regarding to about the end?

I agree that OOO needs to fix and refine their game before they add more content, but at the same time they need to keep adding content to keep the money flowing in and keep players interested. So, what do they add in between?

All games..

all games should have an end. games that dont are mostly not good to play cause you could spend your entirer life playing the game and you would never reach the end. games that dont have a conclusion to its story is only meant to farm money from players who are dedicated. No one wants to watch a movie without a climax, or read a story that goes on for eternity. I dont think anyone is immortal in the world, so why would annyone want to continue on a story that would never end even if they spent there whole life time reading it. Even if there was a someone with an immortal body, wouln't that person get bored along the way as the story keeps going and going and going and going........ yeah you dont like me saying that word over and over again do you? So why would you want to continue reading a story that does the same thing. Unless there was an infinite amount of variaety of stories that is being produced in the stories of spiral knights, then it needs an end.

yes...

but it needs more variety before the end before it is ended. To prevent what happened in SW:TOR: everyone got the game, beat the story, and left.

I agree that...

I agree that Spiral Knights needs an end to the storyline, but that doesn't mean an end to the game. Maybe there could be missions after the core? Back on the home-planet of the knights of spiral? Or maybe as Paratroopa said, there could be missions and arcade-style, free-roaming explorations on other planets to gather info on the creatures that ended up on/in Cradle.

Also, for the Core idea, I agree with all the "scary monsters" and special core elements and stuff, but I'm not so sure about the big boss of the game being a machine. Maybe there could be a portal gate or a void or something that connects to other worlds/planets with a guardian? And the idea of the gremlins joining in on the fun is pretty nice xD It would be cool to give those pros a scare- I hope OOO adds scary sounds and effects too :DDDD plus weird monster hybrids or something to do with the shadow lairs(shapeless monsters can shift shape into creatures that came from the other worlds?). That would be awesome!

Why not at the core, there

Why not at the core, there will be all the gold monsters the boss should be the thing that created the void. I must agree that the game will have an end and not really 'end'. Sloombargos should be added too.

Klipik is right!

Gold monsters should be accompanied with silver monsters. The only difference is once you beat a silver monster, a few moments later it revives and duplicates itself. The dublication number could go up to 8! Imagine if we did that to a fiend or a silkwing!

Oh god...

If the Knights got back to Isora, Cradle just becomes another "New World" to be pioneered. That would suck for everything living on there. Which is why I don't plan on leaving Cradle.

No..wont lose meaning.

It would instead create a new meaning to spiral knights instead of this never ending plight to try to escape cradle. The new meaning can be that the home world of sk has been attacked and is on the verge of destruction. Spiral knights will have to search the distant local planets that might contain this special material to heal the sk home world. Spiral knights will also have to fight their attackers back and go to the attacker’s home world to conquer it and restore order.

With this idea in place, there can be hundreds of world and where each world contains thousands of monster types. The new enemy could also contain hundred of types to battle against because they are mixed race. The conquer of the enemy home world can also create a whole new story for the developers to work with.
