Ellthan, you do realize you access to the Snarbolax mission, right?... With twenty mist, you can get around 1,700 crowns. Do that five times, and whaddaya get?
I am beggining to hate this game more and more by the hour, is it just me?
You are serious? I want the CE but what is the IGN?
I searched my mission menu, but I can't find any mission under that name.
Okay, since you don't seem to have an initiative to do anything yourself, I'll spell it out nice and slowly for you. The mission is called "Shadow of the Beast."
The boss there is called "The Snarbolax." Do that mission's first two depths, but don't fight the boss.
Just because I'm new to the game doesn't me I don't have a initiative to do anything myself, unlike you I have a life and I don't spend every second of my day researching the bosses of a videogame.
P.S. Can somebody tell me what is IGN?
There's only about 10 missions between it and the very beginning of the game.
By simply doing the first two levels and then exiting, you can turn a meager profit and have a few crowns left over after buying 100CE on the market.
The profit gets larger with Jelly King.
So, technically. if you have the patience to endure 10 missions, you can play the game for free, with periodic grinding. If you're smart when it comes to moneymaking or lucky when it comes to gear, the grinding is minimized.
Still, nobody has told me what IGN is.
My in game name is Ellthan-Cosmolion, in case you were serious, which I doubt you were.
what you're saying is you don't want to spend money on this game but you want to progress but before you're parents told you not to spend money on this game you were all for spending money on this game?!
This game is free to play don't make any mistake about it, only problem is its harder if you're free2play. if it was the old days when CE was only 3.5ce then you wouldn't be having this issue now would you? if anything its the player base that makes the game harder to play for newer people, eheheh.
btw, I never heard of a demo that lets you progress until you can play nonstop forever?
I'm not constrained by anyone else, I answer to myself.
Enjoy your 1000 CE kid. Spend it the way you want it.
first things first.
1 IGN stands for "in game name".
2 the jelly king (JK) is the second boss.
3 right now, if you are worrying about energy, do shadow of the beast and skip the boss. but I suggest you to endure until the mission "the sovereign slime", AKA the jelly king. that will give you more profit. but, it will take time to arrive there. if you want, you can friend me, we'll see what to do. I can bring you to RJP for more profit. but I'm in EU, so we may not meet.
4 anyway, from what I know, the only thing you can do to have separated mist tanks is to pay any amount of money to get anything. since you can't, you are going to stay that way.
5 if you are sharing accounts (i.e.: you and your brother log in same account) all energy is shared, so pay attention.
"unlike you I have a life"
I have a job, car, and a college scholarship, while you contribute nothing to society. .-.
The mission in question has wolvers as the primary enemy. Wolvers are weak to piercing damage and resistant to elemental. There are also some constructs such as lumbers (tree robots that can hit fairly hard, but are slow and weak to elemental) and gun-puppies (stationary turrets that are also weak to elemental) as well as some scattered undead types that are weak to elemental. So basically, bring a normal-type weapon, or a piercing and elemental type.
As for the Snarbolax, it's the first boss in the game. It's a beast-type enemy, so it is weak to piercing damage and resistant to elemental. The only way to hurt it is to hit a bell in the middle of the arena you fight it in, and it will be stunned. You have around five seconds to hit it with all you've got before it becomes invulnerable again. It also can't be stunned unless it's in or near the center of the arena near the bell.
There, you now have a tutorial to beating the mission and the Snarbolax.
What you are saying is immature and stupid, here is how it happened:
1. I saw the game on the steam store and I downloaded it.
2. I liked it and I asked my parents permission to spend money on it.
3. They said no.
4. End of story.
5. ???
6. Profit
I'm pretty sure when you were a student, you contributed nothing to society too.
Just because I'm new to the game doesn't me I don't have a initiative to do anything myself, unlike you I have a life and I don't spend every second of my day researching the bosses of a videogame.
So you are saying that i don't have a life because i look at the wiki page and learned some stuff about the game before starting it?
I feel sorry for Dementia-Praecox and others because they are wasting their precious time to give you basic informations which can be found on wiki page and you are not respectful. Instead of asking everything that comes to your mind, try searching on google or http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Main_Page
Well since this has gotten 70 replies in 3 hours, I'll reply!
I am a good example of a F2P player that is vanguard. The only thing is that I've been playing since whenever preview event ended (2-3 weeks after it ended, I joined). There are many more ways to get CE. Play those missions, earn crowns and buy 100 CE from the market (exchanging 7k crowns to 100 CE). If you repeat this over and over again, you eventually find yourself making profit. Then, as the game progressed, merchanting was introduced via the Auction House. There are more ways now to make money than there ever was, so you shouldn't be complaining.
We're born with brains, you gotta use it sometimes, or just stop and think outside the box! You also really need to thank Neodasus for his kind gesture towards you. Just because a few people on this thread have been insulting you doesn't mean you should judge everyone to be the same. Good luck in the future and as a tip: don't play PvP until you're done with PvE!
If you really wanna make money here and you have steam, and play TF2, that shouldn't be an issue, plenty of people want to buy TF2 crap with CE/Crowns.
>immature and stupid
Look buddy that's your problem, I don't understand why you even came to the forums... just to complain? and you somehow managed to get people to give you free ce that's actually pretty funny seeing as this happens all the time. are we all supposed to throw you a pity party because YOU cant play a game a little longer? have you even tried googling how to make money in this game so you can progress faster without having to worry about energy limits? no right? because you have a life?! that's pretty funny seeing as you have the time to come back to this game after waiting 22 hours. look buddy, instead of coming to the forums complaining about how this free game isn't free try looking up how to make money in this game so you can play longer... but you know that's too hard right? so here ya go ------> http://bit.ly/10MXpdU
I actually used to be in a similar boat - I can pay for CE, seeing that I actually contribute to society and have the autonomy, but I'm a notorious cheapskate.
More or less, just play the game casually. Really. It's a casual MMO in that it was kind of designed to be played for only one or two hours. Extended play really comes around when you've got a reliable set of armor & weapon and you're grinding the Royal Jelly strata of levels - when you;re actually making enough money to buy CE at a manageable rate. More or less, the key is to start off slow until you build a sizable reservoir of money for upgrades, and then using whatever's left over to either play the markets or buy more CE.
TLDR: It'll start slow, but after snarby you'll start to make enough money to upgrade gear, and then afterwards you'll make money to break even. By the ned of the game you'll easily make enough money to buy an extra 100 CE per Firestorm Citadel Run. (Usually ranging from 7k - 8k in CR)
"What you are saying is immature and stupid, here is how it happened:

So, you can play Spiral knights without money. Just be patient. Have nothing to do? Play Minecraft. It is a very addicting game to pass your waiting time for mist. I did the same, and enjoyed it 100 percent. If you still have nothing to do, then I suggest that you do something in real life other than being addicted to the internet or finding a game. I'm sure there's more to life than playing videos games. Right?
"Just because I'm new to the game doesn't me I don't have a initiative to do anything myself, unlike you I have a life and I don't spend every second of my day researching the bosses of a videogame."
Are you seriously trying to insult players just because they are trying to help you? Unlike you, you are the new person, and you are probably jealous that these people are already in the end game. Just be thankful that Neodusus gave you 1k CE. That's alot. You should also thank the people who are trying to give you tips and help you. Saying "U suk" or any insult when people say "You should always play Snarbolax so you can make profit" is just selfish and just spoiled.
It takes some time to play, so you should be patient and do something in real life. Then, come back and play again instead of staring at the mist tank and waiting for it to raise by 1.
1) How long have you been playing this game? 2 Days? A week? A month? What?
2) Even if you run out of energy, you still have plenty you can do. Play some PVP, troll around in the Advanced Training Hall, browse the Auction House, visit some guild halls, herd Snipes, run circles around the fountain in the Town Square, etc. Make some friends, join a guild! Have fun!
After reading the first few posts, I wanted to read the last few but I think I'll just sum it up instead:
Joining a guild can help. Some guilds have mistwells which allow you to draw mist energy from them. These take Crystal Energy to fill, so don't get too greedy. It does really help though! Also, if you don't lag too much try your hand at PVP. If you have spare materials, sell them if you have the time to. They can get you plenty of crowns, especially certain fiend and beast materials.
The kid has a life and doesnt have time to look at the game and know the basics.. but he has the time to whine like the little underage kid he is, on the forums?
bahahha xD
EDIT:
@Neodasus, I bet he took ur money and ran, gj xD
This conversation is getting out of hand, and I was never ungrateful for any of the help anyone gave me, the problem is that people need read to READ BEFORE THEY POST, and stop reaching conclusions so easily.
Just a reminder to anybody that didn't read the original post:
Please, do not post of your answer is just a troll.
Please, do not post of your don't actually have something meaningful to say.
Ellthan, here's what I will tell you.
Since you and your brother share the same computer, you share the same energy pool, yes you knew that. But, the catch was paying for energy yes? I have a sibling too, named Divine-Railgun. She and I used to share on the same computer, and through two friggin' years, we've been sharing the same pool, nopw we have different computers and play on different accounts. We divided our energy pool into 50/50, and lived through the game the hard way. Ellthan, you guys have it easy now. Back then, armor was used to be bought from vendors or the Auction House. It was hard to save up for complete 4-5 pieces of equipment for both of us, especially with the shared pool. Spookington is the same, sharing sucks.
Here's what I suggest. Note they are all separate.
1) Join a guild, drain some of its mist reserves and repay what you use in time.
2) Draw up a schedule, you play tomorrow, he plays the next day, and so on and so forth.
3) Everyone who actually posted here with reason gave a good amount of suggestions, try to follow them.
I'm sure you will hate this last one;
4) Suck it up and live life, it's the way it is, you're lucky the armor and equipment's free, if you don't like it, sell to vendor or AH and when you get the money, buy real armor and equipment.
EDIT: I have something else to say:
It all can be done with patience. Please, be patient and you will find the path you will take. I'm serious, when you grow up and decide to play the game again, you'll be able to pay. Be happy, know what you are doing in this game because if you don't, you'll regret it.
He gave you freakin' 1000 CRYSTAL ENERGY! Something I can't reach myself!
If you don't like the limit... Dammit, I have to restrain myself at times like these.
I'm a student, too, but I waste the weekends because I love this game, probably the best I've played, and I've been patient so I have 4* gear!
Restrain.
Okay, I'm not going to bring much new to the board, but I'll summarise a few of the points others have made:
-Easiest way to make CE is to grind the Shadow of the Beast mission (Two levels five times), however this is less efficient than the Sovereign Slime.
-Plan ahead: know what you want and stick with it. As a F2P Vanguard (and a terrible one at that), I cannot tell you how dull it is grinding for 5* gear, which I inevitably did to the point of making low star equipment to test them out.
-Create a routine with your sibling.
-Join a guild. You may need to fill in an application for some of them (I remember something of the like in the Guild Hall threads).
-If you plan on being a merchant to get crowns for CE, make and sell the good stuff. Wolver coats are likely to sell, although at lower prices since there's so many of the ruddy things. Easiest way to get money via selling in my opinion is to go down into the clockworks and buy recipes for boss token weapons (They're the weapons you get from the guy in the bazaar in the bottom left corner. He also sells materials for tokens). Some of the best recipes for sale include the Bristling Buckler and Avenger lines.
Also, if someone obviously didn't read your opening post, or tells you to grind the Firestorm Citadel (AKA The King of Ashes), you'll probably just want to ignore their posts. They aren't worth reading if they don't take the time to read yours.
One last thing, before I forget: When people say you can "sell the (Firestorm) Tokens for 3000 crowns", what they actually mean is that you have to grind the five level mission to the boss ten times, buy a piece of Ancient Plate, the sell it off to one of the strangers for 30k: you can't sell tokens directly.
Hope this helps.
Stahp, please.
TL;DR, and I apologize if I have been copying peoples' points but...
Please calm down... this energy system is what keeps the economy system churning in its rightful place. It just prevents over-playing, leading to either you getting addicted, or the super-duper high inflation rates in the game (WHICH NO ONE WANTS IT TO HAPPEN). I have played other games as well, and I am telling you their inflation rates is off the charts, because everyone can play for hours and hours and hours, generating massive amounts of currency into the system.
Stop here and think about other peoples' sake, I know you are a free to play, and f2pers will still get their rights, but as a f2p myself, the economy system of this game has been generally fantastic, with stable prices.
As a f2p, I can give some tips. Just be patient, and you can definitely get to a higher level and become self-sufficient. No one says you will level up very fast. Make some friends, have fun, when it's time to stop, stop. End.
...Like I said, suck it up and play patiently, or get another computer, or what most of US suggested. No one on this thread actually trolled, they were giving meaningful suggestions, now be quiet and follow them, they're only giving you choices to make or decisions to decide.
After you finish with your mist energy, go to haven, make some new friends, join a guild, join in a conversation.
You might be able to make some friends who are above your current tier who will be cool enough to send you and invite into missions.
It is a social game after all.
Study the Auction house more, be aware of the market prices of stuff that sells, so you can start merchant-ing, it takes not alot of crowns to start up, like 50-100k, look for some cheap stuff to buy, then try to sell it for more.
Build up your snowball slowly, may it be runs or reselling stuff.
I know a free-to-play friend, he is currently merchanting 5 BTB asi vh and 4 DA asi vh, and a bunch of other maxed uv'ed armor and shield,
He's been playing for around 6 months and his bank roll is like 200-300k ce, just from merchanting from scratch.
But if you don't like trading and merchanting, you can always stick with the slow grinding, that will take a while, but no game is designed for any player to reach end-game in a short amount of time anyway.
There isn't any FREE online game it's the biggest lie ever, you always need to pay at some point.
EDIT:@Stelli: 50-100k will always be too much for me, for i will be broke in this entire game, because i chosed the bomber set and now the new update make me want to go sword, plus all sets annoy me, i keep changing and changing and changing and changing did i said i was changing?
Anyway i am broke...In the game.
If you manage to get a couple bucks in your wallet on steam (not sure how you'd do that, I don't know much about steam trading, I knew there was a way of selling TF2 stuff through the market though) you could buy a small energy pack or an elevator pass. That'll seperate your mist tank from your brother's.
I think no one saw this little flaw in his post:
"A few days after that I introduced the game to my brother, he loved, simply LOVED IT. And after he played a bit and I sat on the computer again to play my turn (we have ONE computer) and I found out the horrible truth. WE HAD A SHARED ENERGY POOL! So in order for both of us to play equally each of us had to wait 2 ENTIRE DAYS WE HAD TO WAIT 2 ENTIRE DAYS TO PLAY FOR 2 HOURS EACH! Wait for my pool to fill ( One day me-One day him ) then I wait for HIS energy pool to fill (Two Days for me- First day for him)"
Actually you don't wait more, you just play less, as the max is 100... so I guess many people have taken some bait.
I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Can you bold the "flaw" please? Assuming it's not the entire paragraph.
/reply Cmeresweetheart: There isn't any FREE online game it's the biggest lie ever, you always need to pay at some point.
Not quite true. People do have to pay at some point, although this doesn't apply to anyone. F2P is closer to "Pay if you want", to be honest. That said, I imagine the game becomes more accessible for P2Pers.
Actually you don't wait more, you just play less, as the max is 100... so I guess many people have taken some bait.
He does have to wait more, as he has to wait for a full 200 energy to recharge.
...
I really frigging hate people like you. Whining about energy, disrespecting people who HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE THE GAME STARTED who are GIVING YOU ADVICE, calling people who take their time to learn a little about the game on the wiki people with no life, the list goes on and on...
First of all, the energy system is how the game works. Live with it. Me and my bro have been playing the game for 2 years on the same computer. We both used 50 energy everyday. It sucked, but it was the only solution. We both have 5* now. If you don't have the patience, suck it up. The energy system is set up so that you can still play everyday, but you don't get addicted. Honestly, if you really want to play all day long, go play a game like Rotmg where you kill monsters all day long until your eyeballs dry out. Btw, I thought you had a life? Then why are you on the forums whining about a game that doesn't let you play 24/7? If you think about it (although some people can't), that's actually kinda contradicting, isn't it.
Also, calling people like Guarder idiot and stupid - that's just a big, dumb mistake, right there. Simply because he suggested going on the wiki to research the game a bit instead of whining to people like us (Dementia as well), you called both of them people who have no lives, because they apparently spend every second of their day researching the bosses of a videogame. Nope, it actually takes a couple minutes at most.
1. Go to the wiki
2. Type in the search bar, "boss"
3. ???
4. Profit!
Of course, it takes some people a while to type. I don't know about you, but I type around 60-80 words a second without looking at the keyboard. I guess it takes you an entire day to type one word. Understandable.
Also, you know how only sane people play video games for entertainment, not life lessons? You might wanna read this.
Oh, and I like the way you called Neo immature and stupid, and then jumped right up to claim that generous 1k C of his. Hats of to ya. It takes skill to piss of several vet players (including me) in one day, making one so annoyed that he sends you enough CE to give you a big boost just to make you shut up. Sadly, it didn't work. If I were him, I'd as for it back (what, don't you get a refund at a store when you don't get that "satisfaction guaranteed!" they guarentee?), but you probably wasted it already.
^^
When OP replied with caps or moot again I'll be ready to punt rage in--
Ahem.
I came to this thread to ask people to tone it down, but that's not gonna happen, I guess.
I guess I'll just sit and laugh at all the looneys who are blowing their rocket at this guy. People get riled up so easily.
Self entitlement never works out, you receive a free service, that service is limited, but it is still free.
Limited Access Free ≠ Paid
You don't have to pay for anything if you have the patience, but you have the idea that you should get full access for free because it is called a "Free to Play"
Another thing, if you want to enjoy things during your adult life, you're going to need to spend money in most situations, so what you are trying to argue here is essentially justifying being immature.
I have seen a lot of rage in the comments above and I have 2 things to say to those who disagree with me:
1. LEARN TO READ! If you knew how to read then you would have read my comments above and you would knew that I'm NOT ungrateful or all the other things you said for the advice and the help others have given me, but apparently you can't.
2. Do you actually like the current energy system? And if you do now, you did even when you were tier 1 or 2?
@Ellthan
Ignoring the first;
Yes, I do like the energy system. Do you not? Because the way I see it, your just trying to progress without doing any grinding at all. This are my words to you:
THAT. ENERGY. SYSTEM. YOU. ARE. FLAMING. AT. IN. YOUR. OP. IS. THE. LIMIT. THAT. KEEPS. US. F2P-ers/P2P-ers. SANE!
@Hexzyle
LOL.
Let's look for some milk tea...
I swear the OP is 10. Why does this happen so often on the forums?
He walks into the forums asking for help. He receives help, then insults the helpers. Alright, sure. Insolence is great. Can't blame a ten year old. Helpers then inform him of his ungrateful behavior. OP states that he isn't ungrateful, then calls the helpers trolls and ragers. Continues to do so, and informs people that they can't read. Ironic, because the OP complains constantly about being uninformed. How about reading the wiki? Took me 20 minutes into the game to find it, and that was when the game first launched.
Thank you, Ellthing Cosmoschmuck. You're a quintessential ten year old. Do us a good turn and prove me wrong.
Edited for some more rage hard troll no life-ing content. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
1. If you have access to a 2nd computer (friends house who doesn't play, school, library, etc) try and start a 2nd account on that computer. On that account use the 100 mist energy to craft two 2* items and sell them either to an NPC or on the AH. That will get you 1400-2k crowns a day. If you get UV's you may even get lucky and get a max and make a lot of profit.
2. Watch the auction house. Run beast strata and sell monster bones, and bushy tails.
3. When you see monster bones, and bushy tails for sell cheaper than they should be, buy those and resell for a small profit. It will add up.
4. Basically sell all your mats (including shards) that you can and that you don't currently need.
5. Don't beg for CE ever. If you need 7, 10, 15 ce offer to buy it at the going rate in crowns. You'd be surprised how many people will freely help out a player who is trying to help themselves.
6. It is usually cheaper to buy a 3* weapon or armor off of the auction house than it is to craft it yourself (@ 4* it is cheaper to upgrade your 3* than to buy one). When you get to 3* buy dusker if you like swords, fused demo if you wanna use bombs, or gunslinger if you want to use guns. I advise you to avoid all other armors for the time being. You are probably best off going dusker, then buying a Nightblade (3* sword), and now you are ready to learn the Jelly King.
Hang in there. In a few weeks you will be able to play as much as you would like :) Good luck.
P.S. If you don't like the "grind" of playing to get CE, or using buy/sell tactics to make crowns for CE, or the grind of leveling gear and advancing you equipment, then you don't really like this game. Progress is the backbone of any mmorpg including this action mmorpg.
Or you could install another operating system. OS X if you know how to hackintosh on another OS.
On windows, try installing a linux flavor. Accounts on the *same computer* using different OSes will have separate mist pools. It's not so hard to install linux. Try ubuntu if nothing else.
P.S. You will need to know how to code in order to fully operate linux.
Snarky, ignorant commenters ≠ helpers
Kicking idiots in the spleen, and thanking people who take the time to read a post, is a 10-year-old course of action? Forget the OP, it's the commenters that are beyond saving.
Do not comment, lest one be be construed as a villain.
This line. "and I have 2 things to say to those who disagree with me:" So many more. I don't want to read any more of this.
Shadownox: "I really frigging hate people like you. Whining about energy, disrespecting people who HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE THE GAME STARTED who are GIVING YOU ADVICE, calling people who take their time to learn a little about the game on the wiki people with no life, the list goes on and on..."
Thank you. OP, how can anybody help you if you're not willing to help yourself?
@Hexzyle: Don't worry too much, we can probably save you.
Do you want CE or not. I wasn't saying that to be patronizing, I'm saying it because I'm serious. Give us your IGN and I will send you 1000 CE right now. Use that to get yourself started, kid.
