I'm currently working on a Vog Cub Cap and Coat to protect myself from the Slag Walkers in the citadel, and on one of my recent explorations someone gave me a shadow key. He said if I can't pass through a shadow lair without dying more than ten times I wasn't ready for Vanaduke. So I took him up on his offer and I lost all but one of my sparks. There were only two of us for the shadow lair, the third lost connection halfway through. Should I really hold off on Vanaduke and polish my skills? Or should I grab a team and knock him down?

Who is this friend of yours who hands out shadow keys? And who in the right mind uses a HARDER task to qualify you for an easier task?

In short, no don't listen to this guy. I can't tell if he's just elitist, rich, or insane.

Depends if you want people to

Depends if you want people to carry your weight. If you didn't know, a little while ago, once CR's were picked up by a party member, everyone got those crs. Inexperience players paid experienced players to drag them through vans (while they were dead) to get a considerable amount of CR's for a beginner. Almost any group of 3 vana goers would be able to carry you through vana, but if you don't have at least full 4* gear you will die a ton. Work on having elemental weapons, practice fighting zombies in other levels and you'll be ready in no time

hard to say

A lot of experienced players on these forums will say that FSC is easy, because they have practiced it so much. Shadow Lairs start out difficult, but also become much easier with practice. But yeah, I'd say that Shadow Lairs are generally harder than FSC.

Hmm

Perhaps elitist, rich AND insane? Sounds like we have a certain someone in our midst.

FSC is just easy. You rarely have to think about how you want to clear an encounter. The only thing that moderately resembles a challenge is the final arena if you don't cheese by blitzing the trojans on spawn, since you're penned in somewhat by traps and you've got two trojans and their zombie guards make it difficult to smack them in the back in the cramped arena. Even then, I say only moderately challenging. The random battles in Heart of Ice are significantly harder than the hardest encounter in FSC IMO.

Bets are hard choices

If you don't want to do the request you don't have to. They are just some way to gain bragging rights.

Pretty sure not being able to

Pretty sure not being able to 2-man shadow lair FSC without even being full 5* doesn't mean you can't take on regular FSC. I did regular FSC a few years ago when I still had some 3* equips. Just try to contribute whatever damage you can while staying out of the way of whoever you have carrying you through. At least until you feel confident enough to do it yourself. I mean, come on, zombies aren't that hard to take on.

You should've sold the Shadow Key for moneys and spend it on better gear.
