I really am.
I am surprised they didn't call this new update the "Gunnerstrophe"
"Gunnerstrophe?"
This word is not even a good paronomasia.
Words that end in "strophe" usually follows a strict format.
Some words that I could think of:
anastrophe
antistrophe
apostrophe
catastrophe
epistrophe
...
and of course strophe itself is a word.
The format is basically [....][i, o, a] which means the letter before 'strophe' has to be one of the three.
Up till now OOO followed this rule and did quite a good job:
Caketastrophe
kataclysmic/katastrophe
In fact 'gunnerstrophe' isn't even pronounceable, "Gunner-strophe?" If read quickly it will become "gunnastrophe", something like that.
Same words that has some kind of strict format inclue those 'phile' words, such as "pedophile, necrophile, formicophile, chronophile, sinophile, anglophile, japanophile etc".
First rule of making up names: Make the name easy to say
Gunnerstrophe has too many syllables and is awkward to say
Was just a joke, since they love naming events using "-astrophe" at the end.
"First rule of making up names: Make the name easy to say"
At least it's not Toyosatomimi no Miko
:)
Or gunnerocolypse
Gunpocalypse sounds decent. Or better yet, "Gunpocalypse Now". Perhaps Gunageddom.
Lol this thread was supposed to be a good pun? What a fail.
The effort, time, and depth of your post to criticize the OP of such a petty matter is laughable. Isn't there something a little bit more productive you can use that energy on?
And I take it ragging on someone for being informative on a thread, albeit whimsical, sets a much better example of productivity, does it not? Next time, maybe you should read your own posts before you start throwing the word 'petty' around.
Nah, you need to save the "-pocalypse" name for the burst of "what the heck were they thinking?" and ragequit threads after the patchnotes hit and Zeddy and the other Science Knights dig in and spell out how Three Rings somehow made guns even more unbalanced.
there are noobs, there are merchants, there are veterans, there are forumers, there are grammar nazis among forumers -- but Science Knights! That should totally be a common term.
"Gunnerstrophe" though... no, it's not catchy. 'Not like Science Knights.
No, that's another one that will have to wait until we deploy the Science Knights.
@#4: Nice try. lol. How about Chamber Maidens?
@#9: Nope. This is why I logged on. (joking)
Honestly, it took me less than 10 seconds to type that. My post may not have been very productive but I certainly didn't waste a lot of time over it.
Punslingin' takes a lot more than just quick hands. Ya need a good understandin' of phonics or yer gunna get shot down purdy quick. Fer example, the way "gunnerstrophe" is constructed says that the final vowel is silent, which makes it fail to sound anything like "catastrophe." More important than that, though, ya also gotta know better 'an to go startin' something for no good reason, and also to be durn sure yer ready for what ya take on.
Ah, I think my shiny new ASI hat might be affecting me, lemme take it off. There, that's better. Sciencemaster Zeddy, could you investigate whether this item poses a radiation hazard?
