How and when do you use sparks?

As I have seen from many players there is quite a large number of you that have a horde of sparks.

As a player who calculates how much I would gain by reviving and more often than not deciding not to revive I still seem to have a terribly low number of sparks. (single digits)

Aside from reviving at the very end of Vana runs, event bosses, and reviving the sparkless before the last arena prizeroom I never use sparks for casual play.

Am I doing something wrong when it comes to sparks, am I terribly unlucky when it comes to prize box sparks, or is there something wrong about how I judge whether or not to revive?

What are your criteria for using sparks?

events

The missions give you over 200 Sparks of Life, right? 250 maybe? From there, my Sparks of Life have generally gone up. I use them only on special occasions, such as events (tortodrones) and Shadow Lairs. I might use one at the end of an FSC run, if I died and my team needed me.

So you and I are doing the same thing, except perhaps that I am dying less than you are. (I don't say that to be mean.) Stay the course, and play safely. :)

Will use sparks...

On myself if...
- I'm solo and I've gone further than 2 floors in a stratum (or if I'm on the higher strata, past Basil).
- I'm fighting a boss and need to be alive to get the tokens
- I have just picked up a spark on the same/previous floor

On teammates if...
- I think they have a good chance of surviving from that moment until the end of the floor (I'm usually only willing to use 1-2 sparks per person per floor).
- We're fighting a boss and they need to be alive to get the tokens.
- I have just picked up a spark on the same/previous floor

The spark hoarders like me barely even use sparks in these.
Don't get me wrong - I do use sparks, usually on allies. I just use them at a slower rate than I get them from boxes (most recent data shows about 0.5% chance per box or about 1 every 20 depths).

I also do not grind FSC which seems to be a spark sink for most newer players. There are safer and faster farming alternatives. Just keep to an even stratum mission.

I have no mouth and I need to scream

Knyack knyack knyack.

I hardly ever die twice unless I'm screwing around or do a double backflip swan dive into a fiend arena. But I do use my sparks on others far far more than I do for myself. This only counts for those that, like some mentioned, I personally think that they have a chance. Although I feel like I could join the 500+ group if I wasn't giving mine away like candy.

Basically, anyone getting knocked out twice with double the pill amount should learn how to DOOOOOODGE.

Just play safe, only take

Just play safe, only take swings/shot/bomb charges when the moment is right.

The floggings will begin sometime between 8 am and 4 pm

From what I understand the majority of players who have amassed sparks got them in dungeon runs during their introduction. (is this the event Bopp is mentioning about?)

I just simply restart the level unless I want to keep up with a group. The elevators are free so any mistake is still progress.

Quite rarely do I use mine

I typically run solo but simply don't die. I don't play this game on the offensive as many players do, so I can take the hits that get past my shield.
I honestly can't remember the last time I used a spark on myself. I know I've revived Poomph more recently in a fiend arena, but I don't think I have had to spark in any of the arenas we've been having lately.

The only place I really did lose a fair amount of sparks was Grinchlin Assault, but not hundreds of sparks. Up until that final battle, I wouldn't need to use a spark(At least after a whole lot of practice).

My criteria for using sparks usually is: If it manages to kill me twice, then I can use a spark.
For other players, it usually depends on how well I know them or if they are willing to pay for a revive. Typically I'll ask for less than the standard (2,000 crowns per revive) amount, and I will ask downed people if they want a revive if there are a large amount of prize boxes when we are at a depth containing radiants.

And Bopp, I'm pretty sure missions give players around 60-80 sparks of life in total from mission rewards. If they gave us 200-250, then I would be well over 1000 sparks of life by now.

Fun... Is... INFINITE.

I use a lot of sparks, but almost each time I use one I find another on the same level.

my "200" comment

To clarify my comment about "200": When a new rank mission reward is introduced to the game, knights who have already completed that mission receive the reward in their mail. When Sparks of Life were added to the game, they were added to the rewards for many rank missions. So knights who had already completed all of the rank missions received a big quantity of Sparks of Life in their mail.

Fangel, you could be right that the mission rewards are only about 80 Sparks of Life. Somehow I got up to 250 really quickly, and then grew more slowly from there. Perhaps the drop rate was simply that high in the early days. Cheers.

Well...

Almost never, because the things drop so ridiculously infrequently, and I'm down in the single digits, mainly thanks to those Kill 'em All special events. (I even had to resort to *sob* buying a few on the Auction House, just to have a bit of a buffer.) Pretty much the only time I do it anymore is if I'm playing a Danger Mission with a friend, because I don't want to screw them over, or if I'm in a public run on one and we're far enough into it that it'd seem like a total waste to abort it. Man, I miss the days when you made it to a Danger Mission treasure room and knew you were pretty much guaranteed to get at least one drop...

I use sparks when I need them.

I am not a hoarder. I use sparks on myself and others without thinking twice. Only when I give a person a spark, they get up and die a few seconds later, then ask for another, do I not revive them.

This system hasn't been working too well though. I very rarely need to use a spark for myself, but it is even more rare for me to find another spark. Even on elite mode where they should be plentiful.

I am down to about 30 sparks which is good for a few Shadow Lairs or Danger Missions. If another event comes around I may want to buy a few sparks from the depot. I am getting more money than sparks at this rate, so I may as well just get 10 when ever I can.

I spark whenever I need to,

I spark whenever I need to, really, unless the party I'm with is terrible. I'd only spark close friends but they rarely need me to do that, haha.

My computer is pretty terrible so there's frequent moments where I'm doing fine, suddenly everything stops moving, and it all comes back with me dead on the floor, lol. I'd just buy a better computer but you can't get those with crowns, so I'm okay with buying more sparks for the time being.

Spark of Life drop rates were pretty high at introduction

Sparks of Life had a rather insane drop rate early on. I would find at least one to three sparks on every arcade gate I ran. That's probably the reason why you gathered so many early on, Bopp.

I mostly use mine on other players if I can profit, I used a lot on other players on Grinchlin Assault for 2k each (the run made 5k on Elite, so they still came out ahead and I didn't need to feel so bad)

I rarely ever die, but when I do, I almost always revive because I don't want to feel like deadweight.

I have enough Sparks and die rarely enough that I can be as careless with them as I'd like to be- within reason, anyway.

I am a bit of..

I don't have any sparks :P

As soon as get some more, they disappear on me being careless, or to a friend.

I have found that I absolutely HATE to restart levels, makes me feel like I am wasting time. But I hope I get over that.
