Are they good to use as ranged weapons? They count as sword type right so they scale with the wolver series? Is it reconmeneded?
The spur series
Personally I don't recommend the Spur series, because it gets less effective in T2 and even more so in T3. The Winmillion (the 5* Spur) pales in comparison to other T2/T3 swords.
I wouldn't recommend them as ranged weapons because:
1) Swinging the spur series moves you forward quite a bit and
2) The ranged portion has a short range. Very short.
The spur is good against multiple foes close together, though, and I've had wonderful results battling Gremlins with my Winmillion.
The best use for the Winmillion as a ranged weapon is hitting switches if you don't carry a gun. It's nice not to have to use a pot. Otherwise, the projectile range is too short to even think about.
The Spur and Arc Razor are my favorite 2 and 3* swords. Unfortunately, other swords pass them at the 4* level.
If the speed drew you to the Spur line, the cutter series will be faster but weaker in the 2-3* range. At 4* it starts applying poison (if you make it a vile striker) and that ups its power significantly, making it better than the winmillion.
If the first-swing knockback with decent speed drew you to the Spur series, the flourish lines may work well for you. Once you get a fierce flamberge lighting enemies on fire, the damage you can do will far outstrip the winmillion. Flourishes also have the advantage of being strong against the most annoying enemies - wolvers, devilites, and greavers - so dispatching of those faster makes me love my fierce flamberge.
I've played the Winmillion through tier 3 to the core. It's fun to use and I'm glad I own one, but it's not the best sword in my arsenal.

I can say the same thing about the Cutter Series though. I just don't know if there is any real reason to go with the Spurs over the cutters, everything that makes them unique is basically nullified by the fact that The Cutters either do it better or it's completely useless like the rang on the charge.
A 6 hit combo consisting of 3 swings and 3 energy disks. Every disk is shot immediately after a swing of the blade. Enemies who dodge or block (i.e., Devilites, Gremlins, Mecha Knights, Wolvers) will go into defensive mode to avoid these projectiles.
That sounds pretty useful, actually, especially in 3rd-round arenas with the berserk robots.
I use an Arc-Razor and love it. I am very much a minority in my prefered sword use. You'll probably encounter a lot of knights that disdain it as a terrible weapon. But as a user of one I will tell you my experience with it and what I like.
To me the Spur is a balance between speed and damage. Faster than the calibur and deals more damage than the cutter. For example, I've found it takes 3 slashes to take out a low level spoocat, devilite or jelly and with 3 quick slashes those enemies don't have a chance to hit you. It has a bit wider strike arc than other swords which I find handy when I solo. You step into every slash pushing enemies in front of you with the last of the 3 slash combo having a good chance of knowking the enemy down. This feature has the effective of carrying you past attacking monsters not directly in front of you often causing them to miss. If I have 3 or so enemies coming at me in an open area I'll target on on either fringe to unleash a full combo on. If I aim correctly it will knock that enemy off its feet and carry me past the others before they strike allowing me to avoid all damage. It does take some getting use to. First time I used it after having started with a calibur I kept ending up in spikes. Which brings me to disadvantages.
While it does have a projectile in the charge attack it is very difficult to aim plus it has a very short range and I find that I never use it. As I said you have to be carful with in when around spikes and thorns, espcially in confined areas or you'll end up with damage. You have to learn when to single, double and triple slash with it and what will work in what situations. I've found in T3 it is better to slash once or twice and shield. I haven't upgraded to the Winmillion yet as I want to still have an arc-razor (3*) in case I don't like the projectile attack with every strike. The arc works well on Wolvers and Devilites which tend to dodge projectiles and I'm not sure how they will be effected by the Winmillion's projectile on every strike.
My best advise is to try it out and if you don't like it don't upgrade it and I would basically say that about any sword. You should pick the one that best matches your play style. For me that is currently the Arc-Razor. I will say that you shouldn't choose this sword for its projectile.
I hope this helps and always remember to take anything anyone tells you about any weapon with a grain of salt until you have used it yourself and experience how it works as what I like about it may be something you dislike. In the end there is no sword that is the end all beat all of swords. You want to use the one you are the most comfortable with.
