Future of the Order

I have concerns about this game and it's future. Where I once saw a great place to waste hours of my time all I see are [no personal attacks please]. The Black Kat event was a great event the first time, all the teamwork and high spawn rates were very nice and the grinding went at a far more bearable pace than 3-4 kats every 6 hours or something else dumb like that. I know elevators are free now but who's going to waste their whole day for a couple pages from some dusty old tome? The spawn rate on these Black Kats needs a SERIOUS hike up to be worth the time and the inviting feature before should be returned to us so we can play with friends cause the way I see it is this: If people were to bring alts in to get extra tokens well why not? more people getting tokens means more fetishes on the AH and the less they'll cost thereby reducing the profit these farmers make, giving more options to the rest of us and since there's no real life money involved with the process it's not like OOO is losing anything.

Secondly, pricing of items in the depot seems to be beyond their comprehension. Who's going to pay 700 energy for 50 radiants besides the filthy rich and absurdly wasteful? It doesn't seem like OOO understands when enough is enough when it comes to prices, and that "only for the money" attitude scares me.

Thirdly, this game's gone long enough in the dark with neglected glitches and broken gameplay aspects. Lockdown (as much as some of you may hate me for saying so) Is far from a good PvP system. I've always thought of this game working best in the PvE format and PvP is an afterthought. Certain weapons are not balanced well enough against others making for nothing but toothpick and gran fausts mixed with polaris spam.another thing about this that can lead into another issue is game lag, anyone not directly connected to a router pretty much suffers this and as a result cannot play lockdown, or sometimes even the game itself that well. So if OOO needs somewhere good to put all the money it's getting from it's players, they should look to better servers. Several glitches and bugs also exist within the game that haven't ever been fixed, parties that are open to guildies/friends are considered "locked" while in the lobby, weapons scale down in size, certain enemies can see through shadow cloaking from mask, other pet skills have been reported as not working properly as well.

Now I will admit at the time of writing this I'm a little ticked off by the black kat event going right now in which the spawn rate is so bad I'm having trouble deciding whether I should put any time sink into it so my opinions may be a bit biased from blind fury. Please leave comments as to how you may disagree with any of this, maybe some of you can see something I can't.

I'm angry about the low spawn

I'm angry about the low spawn rate after having spent 2 hours with 0 black kats, but hey you know how it goes, more players and accounts then ever before so the rate gets adjusted or else the market gets flooded. Also, people definitely spend money on energy during these events to get what they want without the very painful grind.

I'd love the rate to be more fair, but it's not gonna happen, just gotta deal with it.

On the whole PvP thing.

PvP was an afterthought. Players wanted to compete against each other, so Three Rings did them a favor and created Blast Network, and later Lockdown. Lockdown is only as unbalanced as it is because stat bonuses exist from both gear and unique variants. If you've ever tried playing in gear that plays defensively you'll find yourself more balanced in terms of damage output and damage taken for your class, granted the other team might very well be boosting their damage output by 41% and being painfully unhelpful in learning this playstyle. One of my striker loadouts dons full Valkyrie with only a fearless rigadoon as a "traditional" weapon. I don't do well in it, but I do not do poorly either. I am in a wonderful balance there until some damage-max skolver shows up and smacks me with Gran Faust.

But Lockdown balance threads are something to be thrown to the wolvers in the Coliseum subforum.

Keep in mind that this is only the first day of the event. You shouldn't be finding hundreds of pages per day anyways. Refer to this post of mine to get a little understanding of what I think could be done to fix our black kat farming needs.

response

The black kat spawn rate is low. But most of the items you get from them aren't particularly good anyway. They are in no way essential to the game. So don't participate if you don't want to. The one exception is Black Kat Cowl. The rarity of that is disappointing.

Yes, radiants are expensive. Fortunately, they now drop MUCH more frequently at deep depths than they used to. You can find them in many danger missions and other deep missions. This has been discussed to death in many, many threads.

Yes, long-standing bugs and imbalances are annoying.

Still waiting to be unbanned and join the BK fray... why OOO, why do you have to in-game ban me when an event is on...

GRINDING HERE,
I REALIZE,
YOU ARE JUST LIKE ME,
TRYING TO MAKE ENERGY,

BUT WHO IS TO JUDGE?
THE CONTENTS FROM SKINS?
BUT WHEN OUR SPARKS ARE DOWN,
I THINK WE BOTH AGREE,
THAT END GAME BREEDS GRINDING,
BUT IN THE END,
ALL MMO HAS TO BE THIS WAY.

HE PLAYED HIS ARCADE, I FOLLOWED MY RAGE,
BUT MAYBE WE WERE BOTH THE SAME,
THE BKs ARE HERE, NO NEW HATS TO MAKE,
BUT NO ONE IS TO BLAME,

AS I AM TEARING ACROSS FIRE STORM CITADEL,
I HOPE NEW KNIGHTS COULD BE BORN BENEATH THIS GUNNER UPDATE,
BENEATH THIS GUNNER UPDATE!!!

Hmmm...

Well with these responses I now have things to think about. The point of there being more people and hence making pages harder to find makes sense. I suppose lockdown CAN be balanced but it takes some work and no two teams will have the same balance either but nothing can really be done about that. Connection is only really half the fault of bad servers, with wireless there will be some form of lag or another so I guess that was a little unfair to complain about. In regards to some of the "extreme" comments I made like "money grubbers" I'm sorry, responding to this situation with agression was shortsighted, but understand it wasn't a "personal attack". I was only trying to express how I felt and it came off in the wrong way due to my mood at the time. In fariness the glitches for the most part have been minor, weapon scaling down really isn't a problem and can actually be funny at times. Thanks for the comments and I'm glad to see this wasn't simply taken down and ignored.

@Nolybot

Lockdown can be balanced only when weapon stats in Lockdown become independent from stats in Clockworks - basically by having entirely different weapons there. Until then, it will either screw up Lockdown, or screw up PvE.

You know what's left a bad

You know what's left a bad taste in my mouth? The prize boxes from the last two events. I liked the prize boxes with energy setup, and it even got me to buy some energy I probably wouldn't have otherwise. But for whatever reason straight-up selling prize boxes seems like a much more cynical cash grab. It must be working for them, though, so I assume it's what we're going to see from now on.

that's funny

That's funny, because I don't even know what's in those prize boxes, even today. Whenever a new promotion like that is announced, I ignore it. Perhaps this helps me continue to enjoy the game.
