Cuz Black Kats in folklore
Cuz Black Kats in folklore are pretty unlucky, and the whole story involving the purpley Black Kats talks about how Margrel was the unluckiest of all the Kats.
plus Black Kat has a better ring to it than Purple Kat. ;3

In traditional superstition, if a black cat were to cross your path, you are cursed with bad luck.
So, Black Kats are themselves unlucky, and are curse themed - meaning they retain a purple colour, very similar to Carnavons.
