In other forums i have been to, there is usually a link to a page with all the threads you have posted in. with an asterisk or icon indicating someone else has posted since your last visit to said thread. Does this forum have such a link, or do you have to keep track of every post by mind?

There is no shortcut for doing so. When I want to quote, I copy and paste the text into quotation marks or <em></em> tags, as above.
The way I do it is I keep a notepad document on my dekstop that contains only the node number and a brief description of what said thread holds. It's probably less convenient than Bopp's method, but it works for me.

I keep track of important threads using bookmarks in my web browser. After almost three years on the forums, I have about 10 threads bookmarked.
By the way, Three Rings didn't invent this forum software. It's Drupal, which is fairly standard, although it gets a lot of complaints around here.
The forum search function stinks. But you can use any web search engine to search these forums. So, if you want to find your old posts, try a Google search string such as "Spar-Crux site:forums.spiralknights.com" (without quotation marks).
