Swordsmen and Bombers, come hither

I've seen from countless Jelly runs the effectiveness of Bombers and how well their bombs generally make everything much smoother. I've been thinking if whether I should invest in bomber armor and bombs or whether I should just stick to using my swords so I could get better and badder sword faster than I would investing in swords and bombs. I have very good connection and I don't lag often, save for when I'm in an arena full of gremlin bombers. Since I don't lag I can fully enjoy and appreciate close combat; dodging precisely at the needed time and hacking and slashing away.
I know not all Swordsmen can say the same due to their connection.

Anyway, I bought both the fiery vaporizer Mkll and the Freezing vaporizer Mkll and tried them out without any swords. I hated it. I felt slow, and I wasn't progressing as fast as I was without swords. I decided that I would just buy an extra weapon slot and use that for my bomb.

So my questions are: Is investing in bomber gear worth it?
Do any bombers prefer being bombers more than being a swordsman?
Do any swordsmen regret shifting from swordsman to bomber?

@Zoa

1. If you want to specialize in bombs, yes. Otherwise, you can grab a CTR: Very High bomb and not have to bother with bomber gear altogether (and miss out on the damage bonus from Mad Bomber).
2. From what I know of my bomber friends, they spend a lot of their time running around cackling maniacally holding bombs over their heads.
3. N/A.

[PERSONAL OPINION]
I personally feel that it's silly to limit oneself to "pure" builds. Any knight should carry a backup weapon to complement their chosen weapon so they can adapt to situations. Perhaps it's not optimal for their gear, but it's a lot better than doing without.

I know people get enjoyment

I know people get enjoyment out of it...but please...don't try to go pure bomb for no reason. Swords are the main damage dealing things. Also you're not going to kill anything fast with just Freezing and Fiery. You need a damage bomb like the blast bomb series. Freezing is crowd control support. Fire is moderate damage overtime. It is possible to combo Fire + Ice ONLY with the haze bomb series, but you need a friend to pull that off effectively (it'll burn them twice as fast because the statuses nullify each other causing the fire tick to reset again and again).

1. Yes. You can sorta use them without it but its a lot less effective. Like Dasparian said, you can get a very high bomb...but well good luck with that. I don't have the money for such things..do you? lol...
2. I'm not pure anything. I use things by situation, and most situations you will find me using a sword. My bombs are for
Nitronome: Laziness and arenas, you can SORT OF stand in the center and spam it at Ultra CTR and never get hit. I say sorta because different things will cause enemies to slip through, like mecha knights self shocking sometimes allows them to avoid knockback.
Shivermist buster: Freezing baby. ESPECIALLY with swords, by myself or with others. If I'm alone I can charge up one, lay it, and while the enemies around me are frozen, I can charge up with my calibur to make quick work of anything :D
3. Same as above...I'm not pure.

You could try getting a medium bomb (which may be my long term plan) and then wear volc demo helm or mad bomber helm (both have CTR medium). That way you have max without even trying and good armor. Plus you can then wear whatever suit you like, vog cub coat for instance.

The two excellent above posts

The two excellent above posts pretty much sum everything up for you. I just want to add that if you want to see bombing done right check out this thread for great videos on bombing.

Please note that although the guy has 5* gear and Mad Bomber suit he still carries a sword for situational purposes. Not to say that going all bomber isn't possible. Its just not ideal for every situation.

I think there is also a video link on some guy who soloed Jelly King with bombs.

hysteric bomber

I've outfitted myself with a Volcanic Demo Helm and Mad Bomber Suit, even though I've never carried more than one bomb since the April release.

Bombing is great in certain situations. If you can handle a monster (or a group of monsters) using only your sword, then by all means do it. When the situation becomes overwhelming, like in most danger rooms and arenas, kiting with bombs is usually a great way to survive and kill everything (in T2 at least). @Dasparian: Indeed, I often laugh hysterically as monsters are constantly walking into the blast radius of my bombs while I'm already setting the next one for them.

I wouldn't recommend going pure bomber, but that's a personal opinion. I'm with NegimaSonic in this regard, going pure something something is just a way of crippling yourself. Swords are the weapons that do the most damage in this game and there are plenty of situations where they will outperform any bomb by a lot.

Some people obsess by making their weapons fit the bonuses of their armor. I would turn that around, pick the armor that seems to go with my arsenal. Currently that's Demo, but that might change as my playstyle evolves.

bombs + swords

ive come across the same issue just recently and im working on a chart to sort out a good overall build depending on where i play often and where id like to boost my speed without sacrificing it elsewhere

1st of all bombs purely use charge attacks
2nd swords have strong charge attacks

so most importantly ull want max CTR no matter if for swords or bombs, swords for dmg, bombs for AoE preferably supporting ur sword

Is investing in bomber gear worth it?
only if u get bored with swords, make sure to pick a bomb with a GOOD BLAST RADIUS or let it be..
also keep in mind the bomb will not be able to save u instantly like ur sword, when u let go of the attack button, since it takes a while to explode unlike ur swords charge attack

Do any bombers prefer being bombers more than being a swordsman?
they may look impressive often, but i personally dont think a bomber wouldnt ever have the urge to take out a sword with decent dmg and kill specific monsters with or without the charge attack

Do any swordsmen regret shifting from swordsman to bomber?
u shouldnt sell ur sword, so u cannot regret no matter how much u mess ur char up

I started out as a swordsman

I started out as a swordsman that packed a gun as a backup weapon, but one day I crafted Haze Bomb with CTR Medium and turned it into a Shivermist. I have never looked back.

I'm full Vog with DA, and I don't use extra weapon slots.

Bombs are great!

Bombs are the best bet for dealing against crowds of enemies, which is usually where people end up dying (arenas/danger rooms). Unless you spend money on CE, have a crap ton of crowns, or already have a 5* set for a swordsman, I wouldn't recommend switching gear. I've been playing for a little over 2 weeks and almost have all my 4-star equipment (had to switch cause I heard cobalt sucks :l), but I have a Fiery atomizer and its pretty amazing with dealing with the mechanical sword enemies alone (and outdamages the fairies that try healing on the 17th depth arena), even if you have a party of 4 and everyones dead. Even if you don't have bomb gear, I'd recommend going for one before a gun.

Speaking as someone who

Speaking as someone who doesn't actually use bombs themselves, I have to admit that a skilled and well-equipped bomber is easily one of my most favorite things to see in a party that I've joined. The shivermist series, in particular, trivialises many danger rooms and arenas. I'm primarily a gunner myself, and having everything in the room frozen in place basically allows me to choose targets and pick things off with impunity, in addition to making best use of the Alchemer-line ricochets.

Woah. Thanks for the detailed

Woah.
Thanks for the detailed replies guys!
I was expecting about two or three posts until this thread would become dead.
But yeah, I've decided that I'll stick aiming for my vog set and just have a shivermist and ash of agni ready for any occassion.
