That is true, I use Steam but would never post on their SK forums. I've just............... never really enjoyed the way that the Steam forums were moderated, you know?

The overall organization is quite poor and it is quite hard to follow threads. Even on these forums the moderation isn't...err you know. But it's far better than Steam's. I choose not to look at the Steam's community forums since they're quite redundant (more so there than on here), and gaaah. Just no.

That was a really, really bad idea.
Ever play on multiple computers? Don't always have Steam on hand? Think you're entitled to enjoy Steam deals or achievements and still be able to play without Steam every now and then? Lost your Steam to hackers or got banned? Well, tough luck. Once you convert, you can't play without Steam. The conversion literally moves your character(s), energy, and achievements to a new account.
Now, this is fine for players who carefully play on their Steam and always have it on whatever computer they're on. But if you're hacked? All your SK stuff is gone. Banned? All gone. You at least were able to hide your SK account, but not your Steam account, so it puts you in a much more vulnerable position to lose everything if you anger the wrong person... Or anything else, really.
It's an accident waiting to happen for a lot of players.

You can't use the old account to actually play the game, though.
Steam binding has upsides and downsides to it. Not being able to login without Steam can be annoying, especially when Steam's servers are too busy throwing a fit to let you login to the game.

They don't offer discounts. Even if they did, that's not why I wanted to do it.
Also, when was the last time Steam broke? I haven't seen it break in a long time, for myself or others. In addition, I have 2, and soon to be 3, computers which run Steam.

Well for friends with I'm not connected to outside of SK (Steam friends) it's easy for communication, though the quality is quite poor.
Mamble-Skype*-Teamspeaks whatever is much easier to use imo.
*I use this over Steam since my Laptop's built in is terrrrrible. (soooon)

True, but for some reason I've never had a problem connecting to their servers. Ever. I must only try using them when they work. :P Besides, I can always play MWO, Warframe, or Pokemon if Steam is down.
And besides, all you people are derailing. I might as well graveyard this. I'm asking for tips of any things to watch out for and maybe something which I didn't expect, not what I've done wrong. And I didn't do this without a 2nd thought. I did it after thinking for a long time about it. It's your opinion if it was a bad idea to go to Steam. I already did it, and what's done cannot be undone.
Part of what delayed me from merging was Linux and Steam. Now that Steam works on Linux and the signs are showing, I trust that SK will go on Steamed Linux soon. Aside from that, I cannot play SK on my Linux computer until I can get around to overhauling it, so I'm not even effected by this, and I won't be until summer vacation, when I can thoroughly get it up to date.
As a very side note, SK handles Steam horribly. You can play Warframe on Steam (with achievements working and all) and then play without Steam. You don't have to mess with permanent mergers or anything. It's wishful thinking, but I wish SK could do this. I'm not letting that stop me, though.

When I converted months ago I was confused as to why I'm still able to log on to the forums with my SK Client account details while able to log in with the same details in the Steam Client.

Too much negativeness around here... Steam going down is as probable as finding a BoDR to me. The only thing breaking every now and then is the Friends system. Not that I care about it anyways... *has no friends*

Because you never see any Sonic Sets on the Auction House.
(Hint: It's bound. It was only during the event where you could obtain it with CE that it was unbound.)
Be sure to make sure your voice chat isn't automatically turned on (check this in-game setting, unless you'd like to talk to people 24/7 or have others hear your voice-background noise).
