I know a few people that like to on certain missions but only a few. I mean the way I see it, you do normal if you inexperienced or want to get through a mission easily. After your used to a mission you just want the most crowns and best mats and stuff possible so your gonna do elite. Maybe you wanna get through a mission/clockworks but either not quite ready for elite or just want the possibility for rare finds then you do advanced. However since Advanced was the old "normal" before there were choices in difficulty most of the vet players see no need for advanced and maybe only do elite when a new mission comes out at first just to get a feel for it then which to elite for best profit. Thanks my take on it anywho, I'm sure a lot of it it's an individual preference thing as well.
" everyone " is a generalization.
Advanced is how the game was before the update. So, typically the newer players go for Normal, and the older-more experienced ones go for Elite, plus more loots.
Personally, I do Advanced when I'm hunting for specific orb drops (i.e. Advanced Orbs in RJP since Elite just buckles me down with Elite Orbs instead).
So if you play on Normal you'll get Normal Orbs inste-- *shot*
*after receiving medical treatment*
Anyway, I only play on lower difficulties if I'm inexperienced or otherwise unable to clear a mission on Elite. (Grinchlin Assault comes to mind...) Otherwise, I run Elite-only because I'm familiar enough and can bring enemies down with relative ease.
last time I saw advanced being a thing was during Winterfest, since many people didn't want to do Grinchlin Assault on Elite.
I only Advance when I'm going solo on stuff. Better drops than Normal, but easier to do than Elite.
I only Advanced when i'm helping a guildie with a mission, otherwise, Advanced is poop compared to Elite in payout.
And i love me mah Eternals.
I do Elite pretty much always. Just gotta get that increased payout of crowns and loot. Although, I will go advanced for some of the more annoying missions like grinclin and if it gets real bad then I start doing normal. Plus, I'd also do normal if I ever still play while frustrated or something.
Now I'll be honest, as a farmer I'll say that at this point elite FSC feels way easier than the old FSC of the old days ever had been for some reason. For some reason. (I don't know about other people)
Elite is usually what I end up playing because with almost 3 years of experience I don't think I need that much handicap anymore (not to mention sometimes even elite loot is terrible, because there's only about 2-3 levels ever worth playing *for the money*). BUT then comes one of those off days where I suddenly start screwing up everything, and thus I may drop the difficulty a bit... Which doesn't help, so I just give up and go bombing or something.
As for advanced itself, it feels a little lackluster with the whole in the middle thing. If I wanted to earn money, I'd just go elite (Although I haven't tested certain rarity drops, such as advanced VS elite orbs), and if I was feeling bad enough on that day I'd just slaughter things on normal (although eventually I get tired of it and just go back to elite for self-torture, nonsensical reasons. Maybe I'm a masochist?)
It's not often that things that are a jack of all trades but master of none become more popular than the specialists for whatever job they specialise in, to say the least of things.
(P.S: Grinchlin really turned me off last winterfest, and the new revive system also ruined the other winterfest mission for me, so I can say, "bah humbug" to Winterfest '13)
FSC is easier because you've done it a million times but also because of buffed blitz needle and chaos set, BKC etc.
About half my grinchlin assault runs were on advanced because friends near the end were running low on sparks and didn't want to risk using 1 on elite.
When I start my own party I usually play on advanced. That is because I only have one five star item, a sword.
Most of the time I'm joining a party, and everyone else only plays on normal or elite.
