I would like to here a few opinions on the drake scale set. Nothing too specific, I just need some opinions on it.
Opinions on this set
The Drake/Dragon Scale set is good for defense if you're a gunner. (This is because higher tier enemies do no normal damage on their bullets) If you're a dedicated gunner and don't like the gunslinger defensive stats, I suggest you get Dragon, but only one piece. A whole set of dragon leaves you super vulnerable to melee attacks.
However, we don't even know what you like to use it for, Gems. Do you want offense or defense?
If you value defense, you could try for Dragon Scale Armor and then use a gunslinger helmet of your choice, such as Seerus or something.
EDIT: FYI, Dragon Scale Mail was my first 5* armor. 3rd 5* item I ever obtained. (First I got DVS and then I got Azure Guardian Helm. This was back when all recipes came from Basil except Cobalt stuff, which came from Kozma.)
It doesn't really matter what you do in terms of bonuses, as Drake/Dragon Scale set has none. Hence, it only useful as a defensive armor.
Drake/Dragon Scale is one of the most specific armor sets of the game. It is the ultimate defensive set for Compound 42, one of the danger missions under prestige. In other places, you would probably be better off using an offensive armor/other defensive armor like Divine for Ghosts in the Machine. Radiant Silvermail is also very specific to the Shadow Lair of Gloaming Wildwoods, as Bopp has said.
Therefore, in my opinion Drake/Dragon Scale is not a good first armor set to get. It's far from looking bad, but will serve little practical purpose because there are better choices for the other 99% of the game. It is not a bad set to get once all the basics have already been covered and you are looking to reduce the amount of sparks you use for those two areas, for example. So get it, but put it near the bottom of your priority list.
Only useful in a place that low ranking knights would have trouble with. Once you reach about 10k prestige feel free to try but till then it is safer if you don't try compound 42.
Sure dragon scale doesn't have any normal defence - but it looks really cool.
I got mercurial as my first set and it worked fine for me. dragon scale has fire resistance which will help you in FSC, which is great.
Honestly people saying that any armour is 'bad' other than plate mails are just being silly. Everything works fine apart from that darned ASD/MSD that you get for not-that-much-more protection.
I wonder how a mixed ancient/volcanic plate and dragon scale armour performs?
Nobody in this thread has said that Dragon Scale/Radiant Silvermail is bad. What we've said is that it's one of the weaker armors, that there are stronger armors, that there are other armors that you should get first, etc.
Yes, Dragon Scale/Radiant Silvermail is adequate. All armors are. But some armors are more than adequate, and you might as well get those first.
You should always plan equipment in terms of 5-star items, because that's where everything ends up (unless you're focused on Tier-1 Lockdown or Tier-2 Lockdown). You don't want to get a nice 3-star item and then figure out how it upgrades, because it might not upgrade to anything good. Instead, always select the 5-star item you want, and then look back in its alchemy tree, to plan how to get it.
So I immediately convert your question to: "What is your opinion on Dragon Scale and Radiant Silvermail?" These are some of the weaker armors in the game. Dragon Scale has a family-specific offensive bonus, against the easiest family in the game. Radiant Silvermail has a more useful offensive bonus, but it's still specific to a particular family. Their defense is not particularly useful, except in Compound 42 (Dragon Scale) and Shadow Gloaming Wildwoods (Radiant Silvermail).
So in the end I cannot imagine getting Drake Scale armor. Or rather I can imagine getting it only after getting about 10 other, more useful armors. That is my opinion. I hope it helps. By the way, if you like the look of Drake Scale, you can always wear it as a costume. Cheers. :)
