So I was reading the descriptions of the kat cowls recently and noticed that the claw cowl and it says
"said to resemble the Kat Tribe hero, Scraith, first to scale the walls of the Owlite High Academy".
This got me thinking....
What do the kats of the kat tribe look like? The description states that they could "scale walls" so i geuss (unless ive got this completely wrong) they must have arms and legs as opposed to the wing like structures of the kats now. Also, before anyone says i have this completely wrong and that the current kats are the same as the kat tribe kats the description of margrel says "causing about the Kataclysm destroying both the Kat-tribe and the Owlites.". There is nothing therefore suggesting that kat tribe kats look like modern kats except the cowls we have which only show the head.
Also, you cant judge how the kats look based on how margrel looks as you can clearly see from the differences between the BKC and margrel boss(that the konjuring kat summons) that the 2 are no longer similar in appearance. I may however be completely wrong so if i am, please show me.
kat tribe lore
It's still very open to interpretation and personal opinion. But the wings are clearly a reference to being dead like in old looney tunes cartoons where characters ascend like angels, only in this case the kat tribe can't ascend as a result of being cursed from Margrel's actions. Whether or not this curse was a side effect of Margrel opening that apparently holy book with bad intentions, or if the book itself was booby trapped in such a way to prevent using it for evil, no one knows.
In my opinion, they were probably similar looking enough to spiral knights that you could take something like kat eye cowl + blizzbreaker armor + white cat tail (divine?) together to get an approximate estimation for what they looked like. The ghost form isn't a reliable appearance to go by since it's only half of what makes a kat a kat; their soul, and judging from the many different forms these kats take (possibly depending on how negative/vengeful they are), it's a flexible appearance.
Personally, I think the cat tail accessories work as evidence to their appearance since I can imagine the little ring bell near the end of the tails working as a sort of training device to teach young kats how to move stealthily without making any noise except for special occasions like ceremonies and the like.
I don't know much about this, but in your view, are the current kats just the ghosts of the old kats?
Is this new breed of ghost-kat spreading somehow? How feline ghosts reproduce is something I don't care to ponder.
