I think Spiral Knights is becoming more dramatic... very good. If OOO links up a story altogether revolving around Spiral Knights the story can become like Final Fantasy Tactics..! If you have no idea what that game is research it... It has an amazing story.
About the Story (No Spoilers but my opinion)
Final Fantasy Tactics in my opinion has the best story out of all Final Fantasy games... Only drawback is it's strategy not the casual hitting game.
The reason FFT seems like the best story is because there are so many plots going on that not everything CAN happen on screen as opposed to every other FF game where the plot only happens to your characters as an excuse to run to the next point in the linearly progressing world.
This game's plot is still all over the place and incohesive, but it's nice to see that Three Rings is at least trying. (Though these kinds of changes would have been much more acceptable, say, back in 2012.)
And yet, I quite like what the Spark and Roar mission's ending implies.
Maybe I'm wrong but re-playing the missions I think that:
1- Razwog works for Herex secretly
2- Herex wants to destroy/conquer Cradle without follow the Crimson Order plans
3- Herex and the Swarm are related
Herex is mah second fav gremlin, next to Pakrat.
The Lore has come pretty far and has been done preeeetty well for the most part, I just hope there's some kind of swarm based magic-art someone uses.
And that Herex's baldes become weapons. Hood too.
The one thing I'm not sure I like about the mission text changes and such is that they all seem to be focusing more on that Artifact macguffin (which veteran players don't even know anything about unless they've made an alt and replayed the Rescue Camp missions), and less on the Alpha Squad members we've theoretically been searching for this whole time. Those guys sound awesome, and I'd like to learn more about what happened to them.
True, although I think Herex will connect the Swarm to Tinkzar, and in turn possibly Alpha Squad.
Any who, the Vets must've seen it in the lab from the sprite missions. Currently the general focus of the game is on the gremlin arc.
I kind of liked it better when there was very little story, and it was more open ended. The new story elements are cool and all, but they're like potato chips- a fast snack. I've never been able to get into Final Fantasy games.
