Yesterday, the game got an update and a few Rank missions have been changed to apply some new minibosses there, and I'm sure that those of you who have been through these missions might want to go play through them again to gather info on them. Thought I would spread the word about it and thought that it would be nice of you Wiki Knights to update the page to accommodate the new minibosses... when you're ready.

Also, I haven't seen the boss, or bosses, Groat and Dread Velvet, I think, from the A Gremlin in Knead anniversary mission archived into the Event Bosses section yet, even though they are technically event bosses, but I'm sure that those of you who have placed the info on other pages would be up to placing that info on the boss page on the Wiki. Sorry that I didn't get to participate in that event. Hope I get another chance someday.

Just to remind you all who contribute to the Wiki about it. The Boss page may need some updating... if you've kindly have the time to do so, that is.

Hey, I don't appreciate this thread and it's message.

Maybe you could start helping by edit the wiki instead of 'demanding' people to, as if we are as your lackies.

People are busy and edit the wiki in their free time, and they can edit whatever they want to.

I'm not demanding anybody, you know. I was spreading the word. Also, I've done contributions to the Wiki before, and that I haven't been through the key Rank Mission changes yet.

P.S, I revised my words to sound more kind. Sorry if I typed my words that sounded demanding.

There are tons of things that need updating...and many changes might be derpy with current templates. Changes we make might change other things, break links, and so on. We do so carefully. Sometimes we need to flesh out a new template before anything can get done, and that takes time.

For example, I've just spent the last week and a half revamping the entire costumes section, parts of which were over two years out of date or nonexistant entirely. I did most of the gruntwork, but the most important part was working with other excellent editors on improving templates and sticking with standards.

But this one's simple...you can ask if you want to update things yourself, too. Actually, most forum posts in the wiki are about users editing the wiki themselves, seeking consensus.

Next time, don't go about it as if we don't do work. There is work being done on the wiki every day, all you need to do is click "recent changes" located under the search bar for proof. You probably didn't mean any offense, but come on: "Time you Wiki Knights get to updating" isn't very nice.

The wiki is for everyone. Anyone can edit the wiki. Just stick to standards and you'll be fine. There are plenty of houndogs who will go in and tidy up pages if things seem out of line.

I revised my words to sound more kind now. Sorry if what I previously said sounded demanding.

You're welcome.

Mistakes happen from time to time, right?

I created new nearly blank spots for new bosses.

They've just appeared on the boss page right now, so they're free to be filled in with the info on the new or any missed bosses recently put into the game. The release dates for them are already set, by the way. Happy editing, Wiki Knights!

More details needed

I've gone through and organized things on the Boss page, adding details regarding locations that I can remember for now. I have a feeling there's still a few bosses missing from the list, not sure. My gut is speaking and it's late. Many of the bosses on this page still need ability data, drop table data, better descriptions, and general data confirmation.

I should note that Apocrean Harvester, Dread Velvet, and the Pumpkin King are not Bosses they are just very strong enemies within the game.

Some general rules to figure out what is what:
*To be considered a boss, they must be using Boss_1 (OST: The Confrontation) and drop non-expiry tokens or something unique (IE: See Seerus) upon death to be considered a boss. If they drop tokens or drop tokens that expire, they are not considered a boss.

*To be considered a mini-boss, they must be using Boss_2 (OST: A Dangerous Game) and are prior to a treasure depth, they are considered a mini-boss.

*To be considered an event-boss, they must use either one of these but be summoned through other forms of means. (IE: Book of Dark Rituals)

I would at least consider Dread Velvet and Sparkster a mini-boss if anything but both the Apocrean Harvester and the Pumpkin King are NOT Bosses.

And that is why I prefer to

And that is why I prefer to call the Gremlin Incinerators, Big Toxoils, Sputterspark and Dread Velvet as 'Final enemies' instead add the word boss in their titles.

Btw, I agree with Glacies in all that he said, so please don't start editing the boss article to add these enemies all time, it is annoying...

*confusion*

I tend to disagree, as do many, many users (I never edit major pages without talking to at least a dozen or so people, with consensus). A boss summons minions (what is he a boss of? minions) and shows up at the end of levels, and drops set types of specific rewards of varying amounts (tokens for most, expiring or not). A boss is especially "a boss" if it speaks to players (as speech elevates the intelligence of such a monster-entity above others of its kind - this is especially emphasized in spiral knights. Pit Bosses (devilite fiend type) speak. Monsters only speak as a joke on April Fools' day, further hammering in the point), which punkin king does. Therefore, punkin king is a boss - he even has his own prestige mission.

Same logic for dread velvet.

Apocrean Harvester at least deserves a footnote. I don't think he's a boss or mini-boss either, but he qualifies for several of the classic MMO logic parameters (last fight/area, summons minions or minion-like entities, extremely bulky AND unique in form).

Major issue @glacies' logic:
Sound tracks - sure they happen to be titled as "boss" and such, and played during the majority of established boss fights, but (hidden) file names that the vast majority of players don't see ever shouldn't be a deciding factor in what makes a boss a boss, how a monster behaves and what the majority of the playerbase thinks should. Besides, half the players I've met don't listen to the in-game music at all. Poor factor to use when deciding what's a boss and what's not. Besides, what if the devs give us different music for special fights, in order to fit in with a more specific theme? Which they already kinda do.

Also, having a unique method of summoning a boss should not be a standard (unique and standard don't dance together) in deciding what makes a boss a boss - Margrel, specifically.

Regarding the miniboss classification of Sputterspark: the devs directly say he's a mini boss in the patch notes. I wouldn't go against that :P. So I wouldn't say "at least...if anything"...more like "100%, for sure."

So, I'd like to kindly ask Glacies on behalf of myself and several players to at least put punkin king back in, as I do not want to get into an "undo war" of sorts. And stick dread velvet back in the right ToC section, as you can't fight him any time you want. But I can fix the ToC issue with velvet myself without ruffling feathers.

Bosses/enemies are not in my realm of typical editing, but someone asked for help directly on these forums and even went so far as to try and help out the page themselves, so I went in and filled it in based on player demand (which has been consistent over the years).

TL;DR: consider the standard definition of "boss" across MMOs/online gaming communities, apply it to sk as appropriate , and hold the opinion of the majority of the playerbase in high regard.

Officially Needed: dread-velvet needs a monster shot, instead of a mug shot. *Waits for the year to roll by.*

Desire of mine: Devs tell us straight up what's a boss, a mini boss, and what's not. Super red cheeks if they did this on another thread already.
