The mission "Shocking Sentient Sentries" is a Tier 2 mission, in which we see a Gremlin who totally isn't Seerus (cuz it's totally like "Dress up as your favorite evil mastermind day") giving orders to Scuttlespark or whatever that Gremlin's name is. Since Operation Crimson Hammer has a Tier 1 version, and the chronological order of the storyline involves progressively going deeper into the Clockworks, can we conclusively say this is proof that Seerus survived the overly dramatic explosion at the climax of OCH? (Barring the trope of "No dead body = no death" in these dramatic sequences)
Is the mission "Shocking Sentient Sentries" proof that Warmaster Seerus survived OCH?
All members of the crimson order supposedly bear the symbol on their mask, so that could have been one of the other mystery seven.
>Since Operation Crimson Hammer has a Tier 1 version, and the chronological order of the storyline involves progressively going deeper into the Clockworks,
OCH's depth is unknown, so t3 OCH may not necessarily be deeper than t2 OCH. t3 OCH could just be "later" than t2, where maybe the Armory was repaired(is there any proof that it was completely destroyed in the "overly dramatic explosion?") and its guardians gained more experience(and weight).
I was pretty sure he survived it - he was the one who launched fortress self-destruction, he would be pretty stupid if he would not make escape route in case of that situation - he designed self-destruction system but no escape route? Rather no.
I think we will see him in final confrontation with the eight.
why would he just leave his mask behind though?
im sure he either survived or Herex got to him and made his body *disappear*
I personally think the mask was a replica and a decoy. Probably to fake his "death" and strike when we least expect it.
@Blazzberry
well, he did suspect the Stalkers were sent by Herex to kill him...
the plot thickens!
Secondary question:
If we assume that T1 OCH happened, does this mean T2 and T3 OCH did not happen? Does it mean Seerus went ahead with the exact same plan in the exact same place three times with progressively stronger weapons and gear for us to loot all while saying the exact same things each time?
Also we've only seen 2 of the 9 Crimson Order leaders, and one of them didn't have the symbol on his mask (or anywhere that I could see), so I don't really think it's safe to assume that all 9 will have masks with the symbol on it. So it's Seerus for sure, and that means this probably takes place before OCH.
Now, assuming OCH is 100% canon, here is the gremlin timeline (supposedly)
Rescue Camp Missions: We beat Razwog and get the Artifact. HAVEN BOUND! (Ancient Generator and Crossing the Chasm)
Scenario Rooms FTW.
A New Threat(?): Artifact is...stolen? ok....
OCH: Beat Seerus! (it has a T1 and 2 form as well)
Ironclaw Mutinous Factory: Plot to destroy Haven is foiled!
Ok...
Beyond the Axes and Spark and Roar: MOAR LORE! Plus more plots to kill us. Yay.
Swarm Based Missions in Order go here.
So, Compound 42 goes where? Let's say between scenario rooms and New Threat.
But wut 'bout the other OCH? The T3 and T2 ones?
"Fake and g-"
STOP.
Filler? No
Hmmm...Did it happen again?
"Oops I did it again"...

Come on people......The Seerus helms Description clearly states ...
"A remake of a mask once worn by Warmaster Seerus of the Crimson Order. This perfect recreation bears the terrible likeness of Seerus himself, serving as a dark memento of Operation Crimson Hammer."
Meaning its not his....BUT ......a replica.

Its a REPLICA not Seerus's face
We have to remember that OCH may have happened at any point in the timeline, depending on when the player plays it, and I think that Seerus surviving the events of OCH is the easiest explanation for that.As long as no new references to OCH in the past or future tense are made, I think OCH should be able to easily co-exist with any part of the story-line. Perhaps something post-vanguard explaining how Seerus survived may clear things up.
In my opinion, all the rank missions happen, then OCH and Compound 42 happen concurrently

If you really think an elite member of the Crimson order leaves tenderfoots to guard his armory, then sure.
In the same sense, this DLC is not a main connection with the main story. Like sidequests in another RPG game, it is merely unique content that has no effect (currently) on the story.
That plus the Warmaster has a rocket on their back. Seerus burned the place down, presumably escaping in the process.
So far, the Nine have been pretty good at disappearing whenever we confront them.
