I am really confused by people using /2 to chat when they could just use /1. I would think that they would be bothered by the 30 second delay.
Can anyone explain what's going on?

Question is, did ever someone /leave 1?
Yeah, the natter really bugged me back in the day - especially when /Trade was at it's hight. I left /1 without a second thought.
I've actually been using Zone1 for random questions to ask all havenites. Works pretty well.
yeah the problem is that you have to be in the same haven for /1 to work. So people use /2 because its easier than getting everyone involved to meet in one haven.
Honestly, unless I'm buying or selling something that isn't in the AH you won't ever find me in channel 2. Regardless of how useful it may appear.
STEALTH EDIT MAN I AM AWESOME also stock is a jerkface.
I /join 2, tell people what I'm buying, and then I /leave.
I really, really don't like 2--but it was a good stopgap measure while we waited for the Auction House, and it's the only place aside from the forums where we can say what we're buying.
I only use 1 to ask people random questions; if they get the question right, they get a mystery prize.
(Hint: The mystery prize is always 200 gel drops.)
@ Dirt. Yeah I'm not saying it should be used for chat. I'm just saying it how it is. I reckon they should just make /1 multi-instanced
I agree. Seems silly one channel is trans-instance and the other isn't. Maybe it was an oversight in the chat design, since channel 2 is newer.
"Irregardless"
-euughhh-
BUT! Zone chat should be used to instead go cross-instance. Having tabs might make the visual associations a little stronger so people don't start trading in /1 when they should be in /2.
/2 chat is used explicitly as a trade channel, while /1 chat is used for other topics of conversation. The majority of chat that occurs involves sellers and buyers, and they must use the trade chat.
