It's that "latest version of java" that's the problem. SK requires Java 6. Apple's Java 6 will only run on 64-bit Intel. Oracle's Java 7 won't even run on OSX 10.5, the last OSX to support PPC. Are you running a very old version of SK that supported Java 5, or did you compile your own Java 6 runtime?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

HOLD THE PHONE PEOPLE! THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE SOMETHING NASTY!

I need to crack this open and look at it. Do NOT run it unless you can be sure it's safe. Chances are, there is no way to get the proper version of Java running on such an old computer, and he just made it look like such in order to fool you. Proceed with caution.

EDIT: Okay, I've compared this one to the official getdown-pro.jar file. It looks okay, as far as I can tell. However, I think we need someone who knows the structure of this stuff better than I do, so don't take my word for it. All I can say is that it seems to have all the same files, so it's definitely not just a little virus in a package.

That being said, this guy's file is 10 KB bigger than the official one. Can someone figure out why? I will mention that my file came from the linux version of SK, so that could be part of it.

@OP

I'm sorry for picking this apart if you've honestly made something which works. I'm just cautious...I hope you understand.

Meep.

An alternative to downloading this file is to download the Spiral Knights program file from Steam. The only concerns with this is that you need to login by Steam and as always, you'll need to download and update it which always takes a while.

Edit: Move this thread to the graveyard and let it rest in peace.

If you did know how to edit a topic (which you did), you could have moved the whole thread too

Well I understand it was

Well I understand it was fishy and all but I downloaded this and opened it and I can finally play spiral knights on my laptop when I had been unable to for months and no amount of troubleshooting was working. I had tried everything.

But then again, checking the patch notes, they say they fixed a bug with fullscreen mode, and perhaps that had been my problem.

Regardless, my computer didn't explode
