Why cant they re-instate the Homecoming Event?

I was not playing Spiral Knights when the Homecoming Celebration event came around but I've seen the Honor gear displayed on the wiki. (I have them bookmarked too XD)

Different variations of the gear were given to players who logged on during this event based on what rank they were at the time. Recruits, Apprentices and Squires got the Honor Blade, Honor Guard, and the Recruit's Battle Stand. Soldiers, Knights and Knight Elite's recieved the Tempered Honor Blade, Great Honor Guard, and the Knight's battle stand. Defender's, Defender Elite's and Champion's obtained the Ascended Honor Blade, Mighty Honor Guard, and the Champions Battle Stand. Finally, Vanguard's attained the Lionheart Honor Blade, Exalted Honor Guard, and the Vanguard's Battle Stand.

I find it a little unfair that players like me who joined the game after the event didn't recieve any of these items or something similar to them. The items are not tradeable or auctionable. How is a player to obtain these items and other like event items if they weren't there for the event? Surley, that's a ridiculous question and I will most likley be shunned for it but I seriously want to get my hands on that gear!

It's only cobalt line

It's only cobalt line reskins, pretty but not really useful. Maybe someday in the future SK will have an event like this but who knows. Till then the only way to get these things is doing something that would get you perma-banned.

a little unfair, but not very unfair

It's a little unfair, yes. But not very unfair. You can get equivalent gear such as Leviathan Blade and Aegis. The shield isn't even very good. Many people (including me) think that the honor reskins are uglier than their regular versions.

Is it also unfair that players who played during the beta got Groundbreaker armor, that the rest of us can't get? A little, but not worth complaining about.

Much of the value of these items is due to their exclusivity. If everyone had them, then no one would want them, because they have little inherent worth.

3 words:
Gift of Autumn.

They seem to every once in awhile give out free items to players, with the 3 words above being the most recent one.

Just wondering.

"Till then the only way to get these things is doing something that would get you perma-banned."

How exactly would they know (unless your upfront about it :))? I mean, I see why TR set this as a rule, but it just made me wonder, if you are allowed to "skin" in Osu, why is it "a sin" here?

(Osu does have rules for taking other peoples skin elements and claiming it's "your own skin". Well this and posting modded skins or "not your own skin" for download. Posting a skin you worked hard on by yourself would be okay though)

As I see it, edits are just changing colors only for you. (Not really game breaking, like getting 9 trillion crowns)

I know I am kind of comparing Spiral Knights to "a different game" here, but I do make a valid arguement, right?

@MystrianIf you could hack

@Mystrian

If you could hack yourself an honor blade then what is to keep you from hacking yourself a crowbar? or a Guardian shield for PVE?

SK probably has a collection of dates that tell when each knight was created so if you are seen with an item that appeared before your knight existed they would know.

In TF2 you can upload mods that affect the HUD, models, and Texture but these aren't game changing features. A sword and a sword reskinned as a golf club do the same damage and have the same mechanics. However only you see the golf club, everyone else sees you with a sword.

There's a difference between hacking and model replacement.

If I recall, Nick and the Gamemasters quite open with the fact of local-replacements as long as they weren't posted on the Forums or anywhere else. I believe his reasoning was that he wanted all original content to be originally shown in an image so if anyone saw a picture of Spiral Knights and aren't familiar with the game, they wouldn't be questioning "Why doesn't my game look like this?"

I've done quite a bit of replacements myself but cannot be noted here on the forums due to the rule above: You can't show modified content on the forums.

"It sucks that there's an awesome video but you can't post it because it breaks Terms of Services."

Staying on topic however, the Honor stuff was always just an accomplishment for being here before anyone else. I don't exactly understand why people keep bringing this up.

Other than that, pretty much what Bopp said.
