Real ghosts in the game would be nice. We already have these which are potentially harmless, other than exploding upon contact.

My suggestion would be for ghosts in dark areas, such as graveyard, and bits of clockwork tunnels . Kats are considered "ghostly" creatures, but they're cats.

for a ghost to be situated, I can only presume it would be best for these new "ghost" enemies to teleport. Imagine this:

You are walking. You see an animation of a ghost being summoned. It teleports to you (or your party ally[s]) and attacks. The special thing about ghosts is that they can teleport quickly. They can often teleport if they feel they are "over-attacked". Sometimes these ghosts can teleport away and duplicate themselves.

Refer to this video for closer reference.

You quite literally just described almost everything about a Phantom besides the fact that they can curse players.

Phantoms do not teleport. They hide theirselves in the shadows into red globular circles and re-pounce once more. But think about Tier 3 wolvers, they quite literally teleport from one location to another. The process takes about 1-2 seconds for a ghost to teleport.

And Phantoms do the dash effect, which has a similar range to teleporting.

Lore Alert.

A Spookat is a ghost. Heck, it even has the classic bed sheet ghost look down, while also being adorable and bearing terrifying resemblance to a blob.

Just because they're cats, doesn't make them any less a ghost :p

Sandwich-Potato, they teleport to any allies. So, they can utterly break their distance between you and then they head for one of your other party ally(s).

Actually, the phantoms can teleport. They don't spam it or rely on it like wolvers, but if you've ever tried running away from one you'll see it teleport a bit ahead of you. I like the phantoms' AI.
