alright, spookats (I prefer ghost kitties, but whatevs) always have owlite feathers. Knowing cats, it is probably because they have bloody feathers stuck to their adorable little kitty mouths after killing and eating some "innocent" bird.

the fluff (or feather) text about the Grey Feather Mantle says: "A cloak for renowned Owlite scholars, this feathery frock is filled with the wisdom of the ages... and is super soft!"

Grey Feather Cowl: "A downy hood made for scholars who like to get out into the field. It's softer than the most luxurious of pillows, yet extraordinarily protective. "

Philoso Feather: "A large, grey feather plucked from the greatest of the Owlite magicians. "

So... where are the owlites that the Spookats kill? what are they? where are they? what do they look like? How do the Spookats kill them when they have such sweet armor? Owlites are implied to be intelligent ("renowned Owlite scholars" and "Owlite magicians" ) and yet are evidently susceptible to the predictable and fairly easily countered Spookat tactics that consist of quick lunging bites and slow moving energy projectiles.

I mean, there are few intelligent species here... Strangers, Gremlins, Jellies (enough to have a monarchy?) and Owlites.... so... where are the owlites?

Obviously...

Spookats kill Owlite Magicians the same way they kill Spiral Knights. By going after them in large packs and bringing a few greavers to provide enough harassment that the victim can either run and be status'd by greavers and then be killed while writhing in agony, or else hold still and have a shield shatter under 20 or 30 slow moving energy projectiles and then be killed while defenseless!

I suspect...

I think you've already seen plenty.
Owlite Magicians wear hoods and cloaks. Strangers wear hoods and cloaks.
Owlite Magicians are a bird people. Snipes love Strangers.
Of course, my suspicions can only be proven if we can get a stranger to take off his (her? its?) mask.

Now, you might think we could force them to do that with the armaments we have, but I, for one, do not one to be cut off from Basil's recipes!

Well, if your suspicions are correct....

There is probably a secret "Penalty to Stranger Very High" and "Maximum!" on all of our weapons and armor that we dont know about.... And that Basil "neglected" to tell us about. So our armaments probably wont do a damn thing anyway.

You know, just in case. >.>

Well...

If the Easter Bunny can lay chicken eggs, then why cant' spookats be the ghosts of Owlite scholars? Who's to say that it wasn't the knights that were doing the plucking from the spookats instead of the other way around? It would also make sense, because all Kat types shoot out elemental bullets; isn't anything "elemental" supposed to be of magic or wizardry, especially if the Kat family are of a demonic variety?

... it's 1 in the morning, so this probably won't make any sense when i wake up... but, just a thought. kat souls/ghosts from owlite scholars. XD

@ caelean

You Sir, are a very disturbed (and probably confused) Gentleman and Scholar. And yet, a gentleman and a scholar nonetheless.
