1. Obviously Polaris. The shock as well as the expansion of the bullet makes way for annoyance. It dissuades area access and if you have multiple Polaris spammers, you basically just bounce around in blue orbs of death til you're dead. Not only is it annoying to the foe but to the ally. The big explosion causes a temporary blindness in which a person can die by a swing of a Gran Faust. The power of that thing is a bit too much. I understand that it's slow but that doesn't mean it makes up for how powerful it's usage is. One may say "Learn to dodge". No. Try a full blown polaris onslaught and you see what I mean. Players that have been going on for years now still have a hard time dodging, so no. Just no.
2. Branishes. More specifically Acheron and Brandish charges. I understand that SK was trying to balance out the Brandish family by adding more juice to Acheron, but adding it to an already overpowered line? That's just death to the metagame. Acheron does way too much damage. "Why don't you just buy Shadow Max/Normal Max" ? Well.. I hope not everyone has as much money as you do. Some of us actually don't buy CE at every promotion(every hour) so that isn't necessarily an option to all players and especially upcoming players. Brandish charges... The range on that arc is insaneeee. A lot of the times, I find myself dashing out of the way at a predicted charge but guess what? It still hits. It's bad enough that the status is greatly overpowered and the charge one hit KO's you but the range on the charge is just way too much.
3. Hammers. The thing is listed under "sword" but I don't see a blade on it. It's a hammer, not a sword. Yes, the dash in between makes for vulnerability but does that really make up for all its other quirks? No. The range is about the same on a GF on the first swing but on the second, its range is outside the screen. I remember getting hit from a guy using a hammer where it literally hit me from a place outside my screen. The range on that is way too much. The attack pattern makes for a cheap way to get damage. There is no skill involved. Some idiot says that wielding a hammer is hard. No. I hit 20k on my first time using it. No Skill. Hammer isn't that bad to be honest but it gets really annoying when I can't see my opponent swinging at me from half way across the screen.
Comments? Thoughts?
What I find that needs a good nerfing in LockDown.
Let's not forget pentas the striker class toothpicks aaaand I'm probably forgetting something but well, those three matter a lot.
You can say what you want about hammers, but they definitely require skill to use effectively.
The fact you hit 20k with it doesn't really mean anything; because if it was that easy, hammer would be the default heavy sword, and not GF/DA.
Blueflood and Krakob raise valid points.
Except about the toothpicks. Don't you touch my flourish Krakob >:(
Toothpick range is messed up. I'd be completely fine with a hitbox about the width of a Brandish/DVS but with 1.5 tiles reach. Now it's just broken wide and really, width should be a heavy sword thing. Flourish could be a niche sword with reach, speed, but with a lacking width to more accurately depict a real life fencing sword but it's not and that's a shame, if you ask me.
I'd really have to agree with krakky here, flourish has a much, much wider range than brandish and it also faster than brandish iirc and has just slightly lower damage(1 more hit than brandish right? Or a couple of vali shots?) The weapon is definitely one of the most fun to use swordwise but it definitely isn't balanced.
Yeah. Flourishes are faster, wider, and have a tiny bit more reach. If OOO would be consistent in their balancing, Flourishes would be at the same damage as Acheron, also. Why?
Flourish's piercing damage is the same as Levi's normal damage. Likewise, 2* Brandish's damage is the same as Calibur's damage. So, Brandishes should be equal to Caliburs and Caliburs shouhld be equal to Flourishes. One might argue that'd be proper balance and it would be, if Toothpicks had proper hitboxes.
Nerf the hitbox all you want.. People will AT their way out of it.
I'm all about high risk, high reward in lockdown, but we all now it'll never happen.
Health trinkets. They screw up class mechanics, and negate the striker's main weakness (that hp drop)
In T1 (which no one plays) it gives almost no benefit, and a player with skill can overcome this easy
In T2 (rarely see matches) it starts to show and as there are few attack boosting armors to choose countering one means using the right weapon (elemental, shadow weapon).
In T3 strikers (which are meant to die quickly due to the natural hp drop) can take 4-5 unboosted (by armor or deathmark) hits and live, and quickly run to base to heal. Recons can hide, run, and strike for a long time, and guardians can take numerous hits (often tanking long enough to allow reinforcements to come)
I don't get people ranting about hammer. It's less powerful than any brandish, slower, and doesn't have that ridiculous GF/DA style second swing that hits on a massive range with massive damage. There would be a majority of hammer users if it was that OP, and I rarely see anyone wielding hammer seriously. Some of these weapons might be OP but you'll find that they are only if put in the right hands.
If OOO really wanted to piss off some people who abuse AT to the brim... They could have AT disabled if you change your angle of attack too much (aka the people who do 360s every day all day in LD waiting for an at lock so they don't really try to aim). This would cripple a bunch of people who spend all day 360'ing with a valiance to circumvent that 15 degree limit of at.
Actually, YAS, do eeet OOO. >:3
Even with a double max you'll die from 3 acheron hits plus 1 shitty gun bullet.
I agree on all of these, but making any changes would be redundant if AT is still available.
Pretty sure I watched that hammer pants gif for like 5 minutes. Thanks Rete... :)
oh blue you know how to flatter a chap; i was actually conflicted on posting that because it seemed like a "gimme" option, but then i saw some other posts and decided this entire thread is a giant "gimme" so i have a joke for you:
petater and illu walked into a bar
i'm not sure what else happened but given the generalized statements they both just made i think they got concussions
Sure! There are a lot of re-balancing issues. You touched on a few good ones here. There are also quite a few threads that agree with this one, but have been neglected for so long people just got tired of raising the issue.. or they ended up on suggestion forums and got pushed back as well. One just has to do their best to beat the system and get better - strive for excellence!
You also gota keep in mind (and I am thankful that people remind me of this when I get cranky) if you stop having fun or someone is just in there "trolling" and making the game a painful experience rather then an enjoyable one, just leave the room. Certain people I have to /ignore or just not play with because it's their lot in life to make the game unpleasant for the rest of the room for whatever reason... be it their attitude or playstyle.
Hope that helps a bit.
