Hello all,
I recently acquired my T2 set of equips, and am currently wishing to know what are some good T3 equips to look out for please? I'd like some opinions on this before I spend the little money I have, so and help is very appreciate!
Thank you in advance,
BlazeShaman
T3 Equips?
Oh, I am a swordmaster mainly, and use a gun as my secondary, but am open to change
I have a cutter and a voltech alchemer
Alchemers are pretty good as far as I can tell. But I'm more of a sword/bomb user so far.
Also good are calibur line (great charge) and heavy swords (mainly avenger/DA) (preferably with one piece of vog cub armor at least).
Faust and Flourish lines are good for the enemies weak to em.
Well if you want to do Vanaduke (the current T3 boss) without getting too crispy, you could go with the Vog cub set if you want to continue your swashbuckling sword swinging.
It will give you the much needed fire resist/elemental defense to fight against the flaming fires and zombies of Firestorm Citedel. In addition it adds very high sword attack speed as a bonus. Also your armor drips lava. Thats cool right?
As for shields, the Owlite shield seris are one of the most common solutions for t3 shield problems. But you can also pick and choose between Volcanic Plate, Omega Shell and the Dread Skelly Shield.
As for weapons, well thats just depends on your play style. Cutter can branch into the Dread Venom Striker (Fantastic against the Jelly king) or the Hunting blade (Possibly fantastic against the supposed new t1 boss). Though some can argue that these weapons are not as amazing in T3. But its your own playstyle that matters the most!
Continuing down the Voltech line isn't a bad idea either. Its a decent gun that could cripple if used right. The other common gun of choice for citadel hunting is the argent peacemaker or the Callahan. One is a fast bullet spam shooter that you can move with, the other is a thunderous battleship cannon that roots you to the ground as you shoot shells bigger then your gun.
To be honest people have proven that even a set not ideal for certain situations (see the Mad bomber solo run in Firestorm Citedel Thread) can be achieved with patience and skill.
TL;DR
Standard blah boring everyone does this (but safe) approach -> Vog cub/owlite/Leviathan/Argent Peacemaker
Make your own decision approach (somewhat safe) approach -> Elemental defense shield/armor/ your choice of weapons
Awesome Daring (you are going to die unless you are Chuck Norris) approach -> Full Proto set
Hey, so I have been considering between swapping my sword, would any of you specifically recommend the calibur line over cutter?
calibur is your bread and butter sword. simple combo, nice knockback, good damage, sweet charge attack. simple, yet effective. the only cutter use for me would be the venom striker thing, for jelly king.
you could always try out a blast bomb, and get it to at least the 4 star master blast bomb. nice damage to huge groups, offers survivability in arenas.
Ok, so cutter isn't that great then? I'm thinking calibur, but what is flourish like? Thank you all, btw, for the help.
flourish is nice. first swing has huge arc and knockback, it's kinda hard to hit the second swing, faster than calibur but similar dmg. does terrible damage to slime and machine (cause it's piercing) so you'd want to carry at least 1 other sword. great damage to fiend/beast though. charge does simmilar dmg to calibur just in a forward movement/corridor.
As has been pointed out you should choose the sword that you enjoy using and compliments your playing style. There is no one sword that is absolutely better than every other sword in every situation. There are too many variables, enemy being faced, style of the user, status condition of the enemy/level, Solo or party, etc. The Calibur is a popular and solid line of sword. It is easy to use, does nice damage has a simple and effective charged attack. I personally favor the Spur line which you can read about else where on the forums. I can tell you that others will say that the spur line is not useful in T2 or T3 but I have soloed the JK with it and won. I have also successfully used an Arc-Razor/Master Blaster combo for weapons in T3, solo.
One person said that the cutter isn't that great except for against the JK. I don't particular care for it either but I haven't spent enough time with it to know how best to use it. Each sword has a specific effective way to be used and that style will not work well using other swords.
Take what everyone tells you as an opinion. Weigh it against you and how you do things and try out other weapons that sound interesting and strike your fancy and don't be afraid to give them up if you don't like using them.
Vanaduke set is basically Vog Cub Coat, Vog Cub Cap, Grey Owlite Shield, Argent Peacemaker, Divine Avenger, Leviathan, and Shivermist Buster. (DA is great for firestorm citadel, but Levi apparently deals more damage to Vanaduke himself).
If you're not buying weapon upgrade slots, then pick two of those weapons and make runs with people that have the other two.
There are other options, but that's the usual set because of the large amounts of fire and undead in the firestorm citadel - elemental and fire resist are your friends!
OTOH, for general utility, I like having my divine veil (shadow/elemental), vog cub coat (normal/elemental), leviathan (normal damage), hail driver (elemental damage + freeze), umbra driver (shadow damage). You could go with Valiance if you don't want an extra weapon slot, but the value of my guns is really in doing bonus damage against gun puppies and menders and freezing phantoms in graveyards.
What they said.
I tried out different swords in T1 and loved the cutter. The speed and mobility really worked for me. I upgraded it all the way to Dread Venom Striker and it works perfectly in T2. In T3 though, not so much. The cutter series works best by being able to overwhelm and outmaneuver your opponent before they can attack. This is downright dangerous in T3 since the defense of enemies outweighs the damage increases offered by the cutter series. It takes a long time play defensively using attack/shield/attack/shield because you'll be doing marginal damage each time.
Dread Venom Striker still pwns gun puppies in T3, but you can just use a calibur charge attack or a gun instead.
So yeah, find another sword type that offers more damage per hit and decent knockback to keep enemies out of range.
The Flourish is useful for destroying Wolvers. They auto-dodge bullets and, in Tier 3, they can even teleport behind you (via lightning-fast, cartoony-style burrowing).
Calibur series has a fantastic charged attack-- up to three powerful hits on a cornered or immobile enemy, and fantastic knockback on anything else. Far as I know, bosses are immune to knockback, so you'll be landing all three hits regularly-- added together, I get roughly 400 damage per charged attack on the Royal Jelly boss, and that's without poisoning him first. (This "burst damage" capability is important in his second phase since you only have such a brief opportunity to attack him.)
Caliburs commonly go for moderately inexpensive prices on the auction house-- less than the cost of 50 CE plus the recipe. Check there before you go out to build one for yourself. (Kozma sells the recipes for the rest of the series. It's probably the best stuff in her selection.)
It depends on what weapons ur using til now. R u a gunner, swordmaster or bomber~?
