I'd really love to see Jobs (like mechanic, fighter, miner, crafter) that enable special abilities.
These could be chosen at the rescue camp or chosen by talking to Feron. Then you could have job levels that unlock new abilities as you gain heat.
Miners could destroy minerals easier, or have a higher chance of getting minerals, fighters could have hightened attack, crafter could have reduced alchemy prices and so on. Or fighters could have an area attack ability or something like that. I think this would make the game more interesting and give it more depth.
Jobs and Abilities
We're all knights... didn't you figure that out at the start?
True we are all knights. Although to his credit even we as knights don't just run around and kill things. We do crafting and we do mine and collect materials, but the point is we all do these things with the dame amount of proficiency more or less. I don't think there has to be any separation between who can do a certain thing the best. Leave that distinction to the battle field with skill level.
More useful would be to make items that influence a character's role in the party in ways other than damage dealing, perhaps a bomb that generates an area shield that knights could hide under, or a limited use healing item (can't heal players over X hp)
How about a perk you can choose for your character.
Like swordsman
- __ % more damage
Gunslinger
-__% more damage
Bomber
-__% less charge time
etc.
Not to troll or anything, but if they where to add such a thing they would have to rebalance the entire game, and besides that the damage/items/monsters is alittle off on balance right now as it is. Just a opinion, is all.
so really all i was saying is that it would be cool if the game had more depth, instead of click-click-clicking all the time at monsters, you could have strategies or combos and skills. it would be more fun.
plus, my brother is a hater and the main reason is that the game is too 'boring' he says. He says that in other games like ragnarok online, you have skills and it's complicated and fun.
one of this game's key points is its classless system. as it is now you can be anything according to whats present in the game (swordsman, gunner, bomber and any combination of the three.)
that aside we only have 3 character slots that for most of us share the same mist energy pool not only would this stress the players into a rage since they can't have a character for every class it would irritate them because of the energy issue
I like Letchi's suggestion, but it would have to be lower than what the equipment can offer as bonus, if not it would deter people from trying new things, (i.e. spending more CE)
The best part of this game is that we don't have these. I honestly hope they never do this.
I think u got messed up with classes, there is knights only one class, but there is orders the knights have which we have 3 orders. The knights of defender, Weaponry (armory of crafting), and assault.
I agree with Dwho, if I wanted that I'd play a different MMO
Other players have proposed classes for the game, which is similar to what you are proposing. The fact that spiral knights doesn't have that is something that makes it unique. Players don't fall into specific roles and are not forced to do certain things based on their class. Now I know what your saying, each of these professions would only give one ability to a player. Depending on what these were if it was implemented is one thing. The abilities you have proposed would create roles for people. In this case there would definitely be an imbalance in the value of each profession. A lot of players would end up choosing the fighter because they attack faster, which is really important in this game. Whereas I could see few people wanting to be a miner because you would at best only be getting a few more crowns. Not to mention that OOO would not include an ability like the crafter's because then it allows people to spend less energy (which based on the last patch) is not the direction they want to go in.
My apologies if I sound critical but in essence this is an alright idea, it would just have to be tweaked so that:
There is equal incentive to pick each class.
The class abilities don't affect the game in a really crucial way.
