I've never seen an SK advertisement before or after the launch in the game. Has anyone ever seen an advertisement on a website or something?
Does/did OOO ever market their game?
So this game relies on people telling their friends about SK (What happened to me and what I do to my friends) or finding it on MMO websites. I wonder how many more players would have came if OOO ever spent any money on advertising.
Doesn't a lot of MMOGs just do this tactic? First release of game, advertises a little, then forgets about it. Most MMOGs just do this, of course they are letting it die.
They have advertised it, and did many promotions for it on various MMO sites-- e.g. the parrying blades were originally made for a black friday promotion. I'm not certain of any current adverts, but that's likely because they're redoing the game, and are likely planning some kind of public "re-release", with the new UI, new weapon bonus, several events to show off, dash and bash, battle sprites, remastered energy/revive/crafting, remastered arcade, everything Nick promised us before he left. This is of course speculation, but certainly not speculation without strong basis.
I find this remake business to be a very good move on their part. The speed at which they're implementing all of this is abysmal, however.
I tried SK because I saw an ad on Facebook. I'm under the impressing this was shortly after launch, but I don't know for certain.
The almond eyed, cyan personal colored, tempered red caliber wielding, cobalt knight ad. Yeah.
Hopefully when *real* new content comes out they'll toss some ads around. More players means more payers after all.
they did advertise in some mmo gaming website if i remember (please tell me if im wrong) not last long~
and we do get lof of people to come play this game, but most of them leave for some reason..
1. limited play from mist energy (already removed now but its too late -_-' people already gone)
2. creepy server (this seem to be the biggest problem for people outside US, there was 30-40% of my friend from gaming website leave because of delayed time or latency problem..)
3. some bug which cause client not running or have high load then freeze (already fixed but cause a big disaster)
4. bad update (not going to tell this though~)
They used to advertise it on YouTube...
Wish they'd go back to doing that if they still don't; it seemed to attract a lot of players.
I remember seeing spiral knight advertisements on Youtube. They looked like this: http://media.spiralknights.com/v/20140226133449/images/play_now_top.en.png
OOO does a bit of advertisement with his feature videos and release the game itself at various flash game websites, but nothing much more than that as far as I know. Still, advertising doesn't really matter if the game itself is mediocre at best unless you blow more than half the game's budget on it.
Spiral knights doesn't advertise. It may attract potential players, and that would fill the servers. If we fill the servers, the game runs out of potato batteries. We can't have that happen!
