Never been much of a sports fan. I could see this selling well to those into that kind of thing, but I'm not sure that there are enough people like that here to warrant it. I'm not sure that there aren't enough either though, so it would really be a judgement call on OOO's behalf.

Fehzor you underestimating the amount of international players in this game. And the World cup is the biggest sporting event in the world period. If they would've gotten colors resembling team colors they could've made a killing this month. The US players would've been happy getting gear close to the flag colors even if they aren't sports fans.

Spiral-themed sports outfits sound super cute. We already have trunks so it's definitely a do-able thing. Little sneakers and maybe different element-based teams (like Shock-themed, Fire, etc) with the little patches on the uniforms... I like it.
Also makes me think of a "Bucket of Bloons" type thing where various sportsballs can be obtained to toss around. They'd probably explode on impact too but w/e. Sounds like a great idea. I don't really care about any sports other than American football but I'd gladly participate in such a promo.

Oh I know. My comparison is American Football. I know a lot of people that are really into it, and watch it all the time etc. But most of the time they aren't into video games (outside of Madden, and those kinds of things). And most of the people I know that are into video games don't particularly enjoy sporting events either. Like I said, OOO would have to make a judgement call... and considering the recent updates, I would certainly trust them to make such a call.
I suppose there wouldn't be harm in this though. I might want to buy me some cute little soccer shorts for my character regardless of my love for sporting events. But I wouldn't get so very excited.

It's not so much that I want promos so much as I want Three Rings to be able to make enough money to pay their employees, and promos are the most efficient and fair way for them to receive money from pay to play players. They're not offering some super powerful exclusive weapon for cash, they're only offering cosmetics which have no impact on gameplay at all. (I'm definitely not mad about new ways to dress up my knight, though, but that's irrelevant to the point I wanna make haha.)
Considering other free to play games can and do go that route, I'm really grateful that they've found a way to get money (since CE sales aren't exactly what they used to be because of rarity drops etc) that doesn't upset the balance of the game for free players. They're just without a few non-essential costume bits. Which they can still save up and buy!
It's been talked about before - two different teams, art team, developer team. Art team makes promos which are very easy to code so minimal impact is made on the dev team's time, money is made, meanwhile the developer team is chipping away at new content (that, surprisingly, doesn't pay for itself!). Art team brings in income, dev team brings in playerbase.. when new content is released, anyhow. And there's quite a lot in the works.

I agree with you. The only thing that made me dislike OOO's promos and be more careful about them was when they decided to put silly huge chances on UV tickets.
Also Celestial Shield. I know it's not "Omg best items in the history of 5ever", but it WAS something new and unique that's Pay to Get or Grind-for-then-pay-a-stupid-huge-amount-of-Energy to Get.
I'd totally love some soccer outfits (especially if you take art cues from Mario Strikers Charged).
