What UV's should I try to get?

I am probably going to go with:
Magic Hood: Normal Def, Elemental Def, +fire, +shock, -stun
Wolver Coat: Normal Def, Piercing Def, +freeze, +sword damage
Owlite Shield: Normal Def, Elemental Def, +fire, +shock

So if I go with those armors, what UV's should I shoot for? Should I try for some shadow def UV, poison UV, more fire defense UV, etc...? Or should I just try to get as many normal defense UV's as I can?

Eh...

UVs are not necessary, but for ones you CAN get (Increased Attack Speed can be found on weapons as UVs, not armor) well, it kinda depends on what 5* version you are looking for. Vog has elemental instead of the piercing defense your wolver coat has, along with upping sword attack speed instead of sword damage. Magic hood goes into three different ones, which can give any combination of shadow, elemental, and normal defenses, and also provides a wide variety of status effect resistances/weaknesses. So, figure that out first.

For UVs themselves, they do not make that large of a difference, but if you are dead set on getting them, go for ones that bolster your weaknesses. With your current set-up, shadow defense would be good. Shock is usually handy, as most people find it to be extremely hazardous. Otherwise, whatever you find helps you out, or that you get a high or better in (aside from something worthless like sleep) would probably be quite handy.

Oh, and just a reminder: Shield defense/resists only take affect when you are actively shielding. Do not assume otherwise, and think you'll be covered when you're not. Owlite shields benefit greatly from some shadow or piercing defense UV, with shadow being better.

Good point Droganis. So if I

Good point Droganis. So if I go for:
Cold Iron Vanquisher
Grey Feather Cowl Normal Def, Elemental Def, +fire, +shock, -stun
Grey Owlite Shield Normal Def, Elemental Def, +fire, +shock (it sounds like I should try for a shadow UV here)
no idea if I should go the Skolver or Vog Coat. They both seem to have their pros and cons. What is better, freeze and sword damage or fire defense and attack speed?

Depends

As always, it's all about personal preference. right now, with the Firestorm Citadel being the end game, fire resistance is much more important than ice. Also, I personally prefer the increased attack speed, and many people will point out the faster shielding (thus defensive bonus) that comes with it, but it's not as noticeable as one might think. In general, people seem to use Vog more, especially since piercing defense is currently less useful and Vog has elemental defense instead. I went with Vog + Fallen, since I really like attack speed, but that has it's own pretty notable flaws in curse weakness and fiend damage penalty. But to get more attack speed and some shadow defense, it's worth it to me.

A note: Cold Iron Vanquishers are considered to be kinda messed up, and not as good as the Leviathan. Some still like it, and it's hard to say that it's BAD, but just to let you know that others have experienced less than stellar performance out of that 5* sword.

A lot of people are concerned with having all of their types and status resists covered, but that's not always best. If you are looking to doing Firestorm Citadel definitely go for fire resists or elemental UVs as elemental damage will be the most common in T3.
It goes Elemental > Normal > Shadow > Piercing. Fire will be the killer status in T3 as well.
Though armor UVs aren't really that important other than status resists.

Well

CIV has a less good charge attack, in that the knock-back is considerably smaller than with the Leviathan. Also, while the damage bars LOOK the same, it does fairly notably less damage against all enemies other than undead, and only a bit more damage against those.

I have not played with either of those weapons personally, but have heard of this repeatedly. I would point you towards the Arsenal section and Sword Balance Issues thread specifically of this forum for more information.
