Short answer? Don't.

For real though, make an account on steam, and download the Spiral Knights client from the steam page. From there, launch the game through Steam, and log in through the account you want to transfer. A prompt should pop up upon logging in asking if you want to transfer your account to Steam. Click "Yes", and begin the suffering.

What suffering is that? I've never had the slightest issue with Steam, Spiral Knights or otherwise.

Pi5, you need to put on some glasses or something, didn't mention begging anywhere in my post, silly.

As for Steam's Spiral Knights client? Well, if you like taking up more Memory than necessary for a voice-chat service that's miraculously buggier than Skype, then go for it.

Dont usually go on the forums.

But when I do its for ignorant posts. Having problems with the small extra memory thats being used? No problem! Turn off the voice chat; problem solved.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Don't listen to Whimsicality. I've merged, and I'm happy with the result. Yes, there are those who have had problems, so it's technically not the 'safest' way to go. However, there are multiple benefits. My favorite is the ability to quickly hop into SK with a friend on Steam. Trading on Steam is also more hassle-free than with a Steam alt.

That being said, thanks Whimsicality. It's best that he knows what he's doing before he merges.

EDIT: @Mitrail: I don't think it reduces the memory used. What he is probably talking about is the memory that is consumed when you run Steam with SK.

By the way, a great way to dry-run Steam with SK is to decline when it asks you if you want to merge. You can then play with Steam running. I suggest you do this for a while, like I have. You can see if the game runs much slower, and if you're happy with how things are preforming, then go ahead and merge. Keep in mind that running Spiral Knights like this isn't the same as merging. Voice Chat won't work, Steam Trading won't work, and joining from the friends list won't work, etc.

If Steam is causing a slowdown, then your computer is in dire shape. I've run 2 instances of SK on one machine; one Steam, one independent. There was no difference between running either version alone, or both together.

The only problems I've had with Steam being linked to SK is that sometimes Steam would be down .. meaning I can't play SK. Steam downtimes are really irritating, and thankfully MOSTLY over for now, but it leaves you completely out of luck if you wanna play SK. :s

Dat true. I'd just play Minecraft for a while.
