Gunner needing help

I need help with an Anti-Fiend Gun. I play high mobile, and I'm trying to run with 3 guns. I actually really like the two Antigua paths, The Argent Peacemaker and... The shadow one, I don't remember its name.

But that leaves an issue with Beast and Fiend, with no piercing. Looking through, I can't find a single high-mobile piercing gun. There's the Needle line, and the Magnus line. Both have 2 shot clips, and both force you to stand still. This lets me down CONSTANTLY, because no matter how hard I look for an opening, in the instant that I shoot one bullet, Any devilite will use their equally high mobility to swarm me and kill me.

As of the current, I only have 4 star gear, working (Slowly) on 5 star. However, as it happens, even in T3, I have no real issues with anyone. Every other enemy has respectable checks and balances that I can deal with. But its strictly the fiend that I can't deal with.

The biggest offender to this is the Greaver line. If there are even 2 of these, then I can be completely wiped out. They're nearly impossible to shield bump, and even if you do, they just move back to you instantly. if I even TRYING to attack them, then I'm standing still, and I get eaten alive.

My current equipment consists of Sunset gear, with the Silver Six, Black hawk, and Mega Magnus. I don't have any issue with the first two, but its the piercing gun that I have trouble with. Are there any other gunners who know what a better alternative would be? I want to keep my high mobility style, and though the beasts are easy enough to deal with, I just... I have no idea what to do with the Fiends. Please help?

The thing with Fiends in general is that they have a completely different way of fighting than other monsters in the game, making them my favorite enmy, and also my most loathsome one.

For Greavers, it's generally a good idea to stay in a corner and swipe the first swing of a Flourish or Snarble Barb line repeatedly, but if you don't have those, a Blitz Needle charge isn't a bad alternative. A level 10 Mega Magnus I believe can disrupt Gorgos, and a Blitz charge can also take care of a Silkwing, assuming you have a decent team to distract the healed monsters.

As for Devilites, remember that they will almost always run after you, so if all else fails, retreating and shooting a Magnus (which is too fast for the Fiend to dodge usually) can reliably, if not quickly wear them away. As you get used to their attacking pattern, you might want to begin kiting around them, using shield cancelling and weapon switching to fire a steady stream of bullets.

welp

Piercing guns are rare. None are what your looking for...

Except the gunner update...

I can't say spoilers but maybe go check out testing forums. The only piercing guns as of now are the magnus line and the blitz line...

Until the gunner update you

Until the gunner update you may want to just stick to a Valiance with Fiend high.

If you can learn to single

If you can learn to single switch, Magnus line guns are very good at taking down Devilites and Gorgos since you can keep individuals continuously flinched. This also works against wolvers since they can't dodge Magnus shots although you can't use it for flinching Alpha wolvers. For large crowds, blitz is preferred but Magnus line guns are still usable. High ASI is helpful to reduce the risk of single switch mistakes and makes it more efficient.

For greavers, you should use your most mobile guns (I personally do alch switching) to keep flinching the greavers when they charge into you. The important part is to avoid using your entire magazine and to hit the greavers closest to you. Drivers, Argent Peacemaker, Valiance are all good guns for this purpose.

I don't really know how to do

I don't really know how to do single gun switching. I got the vague idea when I had 2 guns, but now I have three, and it doesn't seem as practical

From my perspective, it is very difficult to kite greavers no matter what weapon you use. The only way would be to be is to take them on one at a time and you know that's never happening. That being said, you're not getting away with being mobile against them, update or no update. The best you can do is face their assault on your own terms.

It's much like Sandwich-Potatos' suggestion: Grab a corner, hunker down and use a Needle Shot/Strike Needle/Blitz Needle. Charging up can be a death sentence, especially without CTR but is still quite viable. If the charge is set up before they swoop in, you're in business. I suggest the basic attack. If done correctly, you can cancel each attack the greavers make and walk away with a few scratches, this "turtle" method is even better if you have a barrier pickup with you, or a Drakon with the Flame Barrier skill. At the moment, Magnus line is in little shape to face greavers so I advise against it.

On the other hand, Magnus can be great for devilites and beasts. You can in fact kite devilites with Magnus, you just need to pace your shots and keep moving. Fire once, transition to a safe distance out of the direction fire, repeat. Sandwich's retreat option works best in my opinion. (ASI helps, but is not necessary) That's obviously not what you're after, so take a page from Holy-Nightmare and invest in a Valiance, preferably with a fiend UV or wait for the update. Valiance has well rounded damage against all families, allows movement while firing, and has small knock back and is currently the best option for players who prefer mobility in terms of fighting devilites.

If you are having problems with fiends and beasts in general here are some of my suggestion of what you can do:

-Get a sword, namely flourish or snarble barb, as counter productive as it sounds since you are going pure gun, mastering the art of flourish can make help you immensely in combating fiends as well as beasts.

-Get another magnus, and craft it into the 5 start iron slug, don't worry, the CTR bonus on magnus line means little since you will never use the charge attack anyway. Combine it with your mega magnus, you can switch shooting between the two and chain lock any enemies, regardless of whether or not they are fiends or something else.

-Wait for a few more months and go play something else, come back when the GUNNER update is ready. Then you will have access to 4* antigua's piercing variant as well as the piercing blaster. And hopefully the new guns will succeed where the old ones failed.

-Convert your 4* sunset armour set into the shadow sun slicker set as soon as you get enough eternal orbs, if you can't beat fiends in a head on battle, then you might as well have some shadow protection so you can survive the onslaught for longer. And it never hurts to have very high gun damage bonus on all of your guns.

just wanted to clarify: I

just wanted to clarify: I don't have any problems with beasts. Actually, I like fighting them. Its only fiends that I'm having a trouble.

People keep mentioning the Gunner update, but I can't find any real details on it. Does anyone know where I could look for something more in depth? (Testing forums didn't seem to be that in depth, though I could have been looking in the wrong place)

Until the release everything

Until the release everything is up in the air (to some extent)

There are some things that are almost certain to come in the update:

Blaster/Antigua/magnus/autogun damage type adittions
Pulsar status type additions
new catalyzer mechanics
A buff to the infamous iron slug

New armors which would make gunners have more armor choices than bombers or swordknights

Honestly I carry a Valiance with me when dealing with fiends. Maybe an AP or Storm/Nova driver if there are kats mixed in. Valiance is pretty awesome with the 2-3 shot spread and large bullets + knockback.

Theres 2 choices really, wait for the gunner update or get a different type of weapon
My suggestions would be a cutter type sword (great for fiends that aren't gorgos) or a btb(charge is amazing against groups and half-kills trojans), or a dark briar barrage if you want a bomb

Fiends suck. If you want to

Fiends suck.

If you want to be safe, I would go with nova driver line. As Acheron vs Leviathan proves, you dont need to see shiny brown numbers to deal great dmg (or reg numbers even).

Nova line, kite in a circle. Blitz line if you have good aim, but its not mobile.

Nova line would probably be best.

Here is my mobile gun-only suggestion

Since I like the same playing style as you and for this reason I deeply dislike autoguns, here is my solution against fiends:

Greavers: using a Storm Driver (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Storm_Driver). This gun has a very good chance to shock, which means Greavers stop chasing you for a brief moment. By using this tactic, you need to have an area to fall back and only shoot the FIRST shot of the alchemeter. Do NEVER shoot the secound shot, because the reload time leaves you pretty vulnerable. With a Storm Driver, shield bumping and running I can handle up to 3 greavers at once. But note that this tactic will not work for Shock-Greavers.

Devility: Using the Storm Driver on the above written way works good vs single devility, too but you may have trouble vs larger groups. Another good gun here is the Polaris (or probably its normal damage counterpart, but this I never used). These bullets can get spammed and if you can handle this gun, you can easily create a safe zone in gear-levels in the arcarde. Another gun I used vs Devility is the Valiance, but it had not my expected effect here. If you have trouble vs Devility in T2 you may consider Magnus since they can keep a single Devility down on earth and will literally not allow one devility to stand up till its death. However, for this tactic you need to use only first shots to prevent reloading, since in the reloading time the devility can stand up again. I do not know if it will work with the 5 star version, too, since I need to craft and heat it first. But you shall consider, that you can keep only one devility down at a time and that devilities like to spawn in groups.

Gorgos: Well, I tried some guns, but since they are permanently in motion and my connection isn't 100% synchron with the server, I have big trouble to hit these with a gun; well maybe Polaris works for its big bullet size. But to be honest: Vs these things I can very effectly use Dark Briar Barrage (http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Dark_Briar_Barrage). With max damage and heated lvl 10 it can stop with each explosion all gorgos in range and each time gorgos are reciving good damage without the need to precisely shoot these.

Trojans: Yes, I know that many people answer this with Autoguns, but I can't recommend it for the above reasons. I recommend any gun with less clip size like a Magma Driver or Nova Driver or maybe even a Magnus. I personally will go for a Magma Driver soon since my secound weapon (Fiery Atomizer) showed already perfect use against trojans when I started. Right now I use a sword against Trojans, but this has not been your question.
