This is a place to share what you have learned about doing the apocrea mission.

I have learned that the Seraphynx Iron Heart attack's effect is instantly negated when on the Grasping Plateau. (I am not certain about the other heart attacks but I can only speculate that they are equally useless)

I am not certain but I believe that the lost souls change their movement based on what weapon you have equipped. (I noticed swords seem to make them fly faster, while they seem to ignore the gunner knight, I have not tested bombs)

The Grasping Plateau greatly increases lag (regardless of settings) and I find it somewhat helpful to shield when lag occurs.

Feel free to share what you have found.

You did okay on that run...

Here's one that always bugs me: Kill the bloody scarabs! They will hit you, so if you're not being bombarded by Apocrean tentacles, kill the little buggers.
That plus the scarabs attribute to most of the lag in the level. (Notice how much smoother everything is when you first spawn?)

Another is to dodge when you first hear the tentacles/when you see the little poofs on the ground. These will offset the tentacles so that they do not hit you.
While on the topic of the tentacles, if you can see someone on your screen and the harvester is following either you or them, try to keep an eye out for if they get caught. Also, prioritize caught teammates over souls. It only takes a single bullet to free them.

Try to remember to mention what puzzles you find and solve. It'll clear up some confusion.

I've found that bringing a striker-line isn't terrible here. It attacks fast and doesn't push the soul as far away as the hammer does.

If you are being chased by the harvester and no scarabs are attacking you, try to distract the harvester. You might be playing a rather boring game of cat-and-mouse, but your teammates are freeing souls and you are helping them a great sum.

Another tip is that when you hear/see the harvester's tentacles, run in a diagonal. It would be hard for the harvester's tentacles to catch you whereas going in a straight line, you'd likely be captured by the harvester.

If you have a Drakon with Backfire Burner, then make sure to use it when you hear the tentacles coming. You'll get a massive head start on getting away to find more souls.

Bring some form of handgun, preferably a Nova Driver, and use it to destroy the grave stones. If scarabs appear then you will hit a lot of them, making it easier to land a kill on them.

I found that MSI armor can help you outrun the tentacles with little tricks needed.

A half Snarby/skolver/BKC (for damage) and Mercurial mail (paired with a swift steps pet perk) pretty much allows you to run right by the Harvester, this also helps in chasing down those lost souls.

Once in a while a player will enter the level with the map active (compared to static), this player can sit at the elevator and call out directions to teammates to guide them to suspicious landmarks.

Shielding during the Harvester's gaze will reduce the damage taken (though it is best not to have to use this).

If you are caught, use the shadow cloak (maskeriath) to avoid getting the harvester to gaze at you. Shield yourselves from scarabs and bombies while doing so or you'll lose your cloak.

There are more tricks, but I won't share :P

Use brandish charges against the gravestones, and shield immediately, reasons:
1. If scarabs spawn, your brandish charges should slice through them, killing them or at least cutting their hp to half.
2. If bombies spawn, hitting them triggers them, while knocking them back, bringing you safety. Shielding guarantees it.
3. If souls spawn, well you know.

Is a Blitz Needle any good? Assume that I'm in a party of 4 on Elite, I have max CTR, and the party actually bothers to kill Scarabs and distract the Harvester.

I've used the same strategy last year and it's still effective.

Gear: BKC, Chaos Cloak, Voltedge (ASI Med), Blitz Needle, Shivermist Buster (CTR Med), Pentaheart, ASI Swords Trinket, CTR Gun Pet Perk, and Crest of Almire.

- Break tombs with Shivermist (the centre of the radius). If souls come out you can take them out with Blitz since the freeze will hold them together. Any other spawn kill with Voltedge.
- As soon as you see the flashing image on your screen to show you've got aggro, stop whatever you're doing and just beeline it in a random direction for about 10 seconds until it's safe. Don't break graves when you're targeted.
- Stay away from party members. The Apocrean chases one person in the party, so staying together is a waste of manpower if he's near the group. Best to split up to farm faster.
- Prioritize HP and survival. If Slender comes, just bolt out of there, there will always be more souls.

As long as your party is decent you can farm up a handful of tokens this way. Got 500+ in one run on Elite, one spark rev, and with two Arena floors last night.

5* Electron Vortex works

5* Electron Vortex works miracles; it keeps all enemies in the same spot and shocks them when it's done.

I'm not sure how it works, but sometimes the "B" map glitches on instead of static. Maybe keeping the map on before the next level will make it show up?

Brraking the tombs with a

Brraking the tombs with a blitz is the slowest but possibly best thing to do.

Max dmg strike kills 2 souls immediately, and injures the last one quite well. If scarabs, then itt kills most. If bombies, shield asap.

When blitzing tombs, stand about 3 tiles away for best effect. Too close and you wont get much effect, too far and your dps will suck.

If you are about to be tentacled, follow a slightly curved path to escape.

Best tactic so far that ive seen is shock haze bomb. Traps scarabs and souls

From what I learned last year

From what I learned last year and taking the skills I gained at the end into this year,
this is my current basic strategy and to-do list for running into the Apocrean wilderness.
NOTE: I'm not putting anything here for equipment, this is more of a behavior strategy.

o) Don't speed through the first floor, it's rude and shows right away your not interested in helping your current squad.
Kill mobs and collect stuff, anything you find here like pills and vita pods will only make the sigil hunt easier.

o) I recommend only doing the minimum in the fiend arenas when they come up, these still give a bulk of players a lot of trouble.
This is usually made even more difficult as you need to fight with your sigil hunting gear, which is not always fiend killing gear.

o) When inside the plateau, remember that you have all the time in the world to collect your sigils and cooperate with your squad.
There is no time limit, break tombstones methodically, one at a time, and never break tombstones while running from Harvey.

o) When encountering the Harvester (aka Harvey), put avoiding him at top priority! Do not break tombstones while running from him!
Breaking tombstones while running will only create an excess of scarabs or souls that you cannot collect before he catches up.
Getting a head start is important, as the "wave" of tentacles will chase you rather far, and run straight for max distance from him.
REMEMBER! Harvey moves very quickly when he is in nobody's sight, he only moves slow while you can see him!

o) If scarabs pop out of a tombstone you break, it is your duty to at least make an attempt to kill the majority of them.
First, eliminating scarabs as you find them will greatly increase your chances of survival as time goes on.
The scarabs can sometimes have attack zones the size of a city bus, less scarabs later means easier sigil collecting.
Second, the more scarabs alive, the more laggy the area will become, until you slow you a crawl and are unable to continue.

o) When souls come out of a tombstone, try to avoid breaking any other tombstones until the souls you have are dealt with.
Many times have I seen knights purposefully or accidentally hit multiple then have way too many souls for them to manage.
This also helps to reduce losses when Harvey shows up, meaning you will overall abandon less souls in total if you need to run.

Lastly, those of you who have powerful enough Maskeraith's will find the Shadow Cloak to be useful in avoiding Harvey's tentacles. Just remember when using the cloak to try and veer off so you don't get caught in the tentacle "wave" as it passes by.
Hopefully this will help some of those who are still new or inexperienced in delving into the Apocrean wilds. . .

solo perspective

Playing solo is very different from playing in a party. My method: Have lots of MSI and Maskeraith cloaking, for evading the harvester. Scan the plateau back and forth, to find all puzzles. Break tombstones only if you're not bored with them. Don't kill any scarabs.

Static Map with Icons, and my strategy

I use the elevator icon on the static map as a compass to show which direction I am at all times. Onto the strategy. I have one person set to distract the Apple-crea (they're both harvesters, haha) and the rest are split up, but if you have a bomber on the team disregard all that (except the distractor) and stick together. The distractor will also find puzzles and solve them if they have the amount of time before the Apple come after them. If not, they'll notify the team where the puzzle is on the static map compass elevator strategy.

I use blitz when im about to break tombs but i always aim at this distance: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=273619536

when i use at this distance i end killing about all the scarabs (if they spawn) and sometimes they survive around 1 or 3 scarabs making easy to kill them without much trouble. if bombie spawns you have enough time to use dash (assuming you have ASI) or shiled yourself. If Soul spawn well its easy because sometimes you will kill 1 or 2 aiming at this distance and most of the times you will leave them weak to kill them with anything else or with blitz charge.

when searching in group of 3 with blitz in this way its easier since your friends can cover you in case you dont kill all the scarabs or help you to kill souls with a charge ready, usually what we do its to take 1 line of tombs each one and only break the tombs in our line, if we dont have tombs in our line we help to cover the others. so we work faster like that.

but everyone have their ways to search souls in this game.
