So we were discussing shields in apocrea today

Theoritically the omega shell would be the best for resisting the hands due to it's extra health.
This is because the hands seem to deal a status, much like zombie breath or a mist bomb, that does no damage, only status.
As the hands have no equivalent resistance, omega shell would be the only thing offering more protection over another shield.

However, what do you think of this "Grasped" status? (Dibsville name for it)

To me, it seems like a complete reskin of the freeze status, without the word "Freeze!" appearing when it's inflicted. You are inhibited in exactly the same way, and can be freed the same way.

There is so much research that could be conducted on these event 'bosses', it's rather unfortunate that we don't have access to them for very long.

Bonus fun story:
I used a mecha knight kit just before we stepped on the first party button on the first level of the apocrea mission. The tentacles appeared, and the kight tried to attack them. When the mecha knight did it's spin attack, my healthbar dropped and I seemed to take normal damage. I found this very peculiar, but only had a split second to see it. if I get another mecha knight kit I shall be sure to record it.

Omega Shell is the only shield on Elite that is able to withstand two straight-hits from the status. All other shields can only endure one.

In fact just from this, Omega Shell is actually the safest shield to bring if you're confronting the Harvester. I've been able to survive barrages of the hands thanks to my Omega Shell.

The best way to survive the Harvester is to not get caught in the first place. But yes, Omega Shell would seem to be a viable defensive choice against Snares.

IDK, would you be more likely to get hit with the hands, or the scarabs? Because I've been using Crest of Almire.

Crest of Almire isn't as good as you'd think, Batabii, since status UV's are more important.

I kill all the scarabs with a DBB, so I'd probably use an Omega Shell if I had one. As it stands, I use Gorgomega currently.

Gorgomega has more health and shadow def than CoA so I've been using that. Plus freeze resist.

I thought all 5* shields besides Omega Shell had the same amount of health.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Dread Skelly ought to be good, or Omega Shell if you have it.

I don't like the tortodrone shields for this, purely because they make you walk slower. That can be detrimental to your success.

@OP: An interesting thing

@OP:

An interesting thing which happened to me at the d24 button: I used cloak before stepping on it, and when the nexus loaded in I couldn't move, was still grapsed. So I had to restart, not that it was a big deal.
I haven't tried it out a second time, nor trying out cloaking AFTER steppnig on the button, but I guess this is a glitch then.

edit:
(Swiftstrike Buckler for the win! ^^)

+1 for Fehzor

In the Grasping Plateau speed is key and a Gorgomega will certainly slow you down. I would recommend two sets for apocrea. (Both of these require no events, weapon/trinket slots)

Scarab removal: Focuses on Area damage over time statuses

Combuster, Voltaic Tempest, Chaos cloak set, and dread skelly shield. Healthy boost pet perk.

Soul removal: Focuses on speed and sword power

Skolver part, Mercuail mail part, Glacuis/voltedge, DVS, and Barbarous thorn shield. Swift steps pet perk.

The hardest part of playing in the Grasping Plateau is the terrible temptation to break tombs even when you are being chased. Just run, don't do anything just run. If you are fast enough, feel free to hunt and complete puzzles while running but leave the souls to your teammates.
