well, i had the problem most 5-2 (knight) players have. They only give you 8 advanced orbs, and you need 15 to progress. This is how I did it

STEPS

1. get all 8 orbs
2. upgrade/ make a helm, armor, and a sword (if you don't do this it won't work. also, you need 1 more token, and a trip to the auction house with 6k would cover that)
3. get friends and replay the jelly boss level until you have 20 tokens (and save more than 15k)
4. buy the antigua (3 star gun)
5. use your 15k and convert it into energy (you should get 200)
6. buy 3 advanced orbs
7. DONE!!!

P.S: you can get a few orbs from a friend

Extra-Salty
Salt tastes gr8

You actually only need one 3 star weapon to progress. So you could skip crafting the sword or trading the tokens for the gun.

but then ditch the Antigua

It's a nice idea, especially with Extra-Salty's amendment. But Antigua is not a great gun for most users, and its upgrades aren't especially good either. So you're going to want to work on some preferable 3-star weapons soon anyway.

The easiest way to get Three-Star Gear is to just run Royal Jelly Palace. With enough runs you have a viable set that can be easily used to bypass the Hall of Heroes: Three-Star Clearance mission. I'd personally suggest getting Sealed Sword though:

Antigua would take on average 7 runs for a single one. Even then, the Antigua has little-to-no use outside of specified areas including its upgrades. It'll provide no use in both Royal Jelly Palace and Ironclaw: Munitions Factory. The Sealed Sword's upgrade, Avenger will be much more useful end-game than Silversix.

You could also go with the Brute Jelly Set:

Brute Jelly Set would take on average 15 Runs for the entire set. The set isn't insanely viable but will allow you to bypass clearance for free. The set can then be sold for 10.5k if you choose to not keep it. The money you make from the Royal Jelly Runs will be enough to help you progress slightly on your chosen four-star equipment.

Also, begging is wrong. M'kay.

Brute Jelly will turn out better too

If you're following the cobalt line, I'd recommend not upgrading it. The jelly line will prove much more helpful, as the cobalt line is only cheap, and does not give any advantage other than to your wallet. (You'll be grinding for orbs anyways, so you might as well use some of those crowns on the recipes)

You can use your advanced orbs on getting another weapon from the roarmulus twins upgraded this way too.

but don't get Jelly either

Fangel is right, that Cobalt-line armor is some of the weakest in the game, and you should not get it. However, the Jelly-line armor is also some of the weakest in the game, and you shouldn't get that either.

Depending on your preferred weapon type and your level of skill/experience/lag, focus on the Wolver, Gunslinger, Demo, and Chaos lines (and Perfect Mask of Seerus and Black Kat Cowl). I'm not saying that every player should use only these armors. But new players, who are trying to "get the lay of the land", should look at these armors first.

If you're using swords, then Wolver-line armor makes a lot of sense. You may find my detailed sword guide useful. It covers basic concepts, choosing a sidearm, choosing swords, choosing armor, etc.

The Cutter-line swords are fun, but they are some of the weakest and hardest-to-use in the game. So you might want to rethink that choice.

This is a frequently asked question. There is a direct comparison in my sword guide linked above. You can also search Google for something like "DVS WHB site:forums.spiralknights.com" to find many threads.

Cutters are good in low tiers

Cutters are good in low tiers but in the tougher levels you may want something else.

Short of a viable way to spread poison using a sword DVS is a less than great weapon.

The WHB has a great flinch chance when using the charge but most allies will knock your prey out of range while unwittingly attracting monsters to you, this leaves you attacking air while getting stabbed in the back. (and I speak from experience)

There are some other good points that I point out here.

The toughest part of this process is getting friends. Not inviting them, but actually having some.

yes

Yes, I specifically address the issue of efficiency vs. fun in the Final Thoughts of my sword guide. Where you make that tradeoff is up to you. Just don't be surprised if you find that Tier 3 is difficult with a Cutter-style sword.

Dread Venom Striker was my first 5-star sword. When I switched to other swords such as Divine Avenger and Gran Faust (let alone Barbarous Thorn Blade, Combuster, etc.) I thought to myself, "Wow, that DVS has been making this game much harder than it needs to be."

Happy travels, and enjoy.
