Me & my friend were discussing about which 2* items we should UV Farm to get MAXIMUM!, & I picked Brandish, but he said it was inferior to the Calibur. He said it was stronger, but I said that the Brandish can be made into Combuster for Fire Damage or Glacius for Frost, etc. Then we were discussing about the charge attacks it has. Calibur does a strong 360 turn, but the Brandish can do a forward swing with lower damage, but small explosions(large if Upgraded.) So, me & my friend decided they were both equal. What are your thoughts on both of them? Please, do not post a reply if you have not used both of the weapons. I would like to listen to those who have had experience with them.
The Better Blade: Brandish or Calibur?
Plus it's lines can do elemental or shadow damage, and they often inflict statuses, but the Calibur lines are 1: easier to find the recipes of. And 2:They do normal damage, which means they're good for everything. I suppose it comes down to what you're planning on doing. are you planning to be a swordsman? then use the brandish line(s, if you want to use the acheron line instead of faust), but if you're thinking of being a gunner or bomber, then the calibur line would be best, as it's useful in every situation.

EH....
Im certainly not a swordsman, nor im a gunner. However, most of the time all I carry is my Acheron and Hail Driver, maybe my Mega Magnus instead of the Hail Driver if fiends are a certainty.
I used a calibur for awhile... then switched over to the cutter line... got to vile striker before i realized it wasnt doing what my play style needed. So I swapped over to a nightblade and I havent looked back. I don't miss the versatility that normal damage brings me. If I cant kill it with my sword, my gun will do the trick.
honestly, with this setup, I am always doing at least "neutral" damage to monsters, which is exactly what the calibur and cutter were giving me... but now I have the chance for those big golden numbers as well.
this works well for me, precisely because I am willing to switch from gun to sword and back again... dont feel locked into "swordsman" or "gunner" or "bomber". Use whichever weapon best destroys the target, and you will find out you are more versatile than any single weapon.
I feel that Calibur supports a more defensive play style, with a charge attack that repels enemies, and consistent, reliable damage.
Brandish is better for more aggressive players, with a straightforward charge attack, and elemental type matching goodness in it's later incarnations.
Can't go wrong with either, just pick what feels right.
Well, if you're a swordsman (like me) then you cant go wrong with the calibur. Its charge attack can kill up to 10 monsters at a time!
Well, im going with calibur. (have tempered calibur) and the Levi blade is nice. as ElementLord said, Normal is good against anything. and calibur has plenty of it. AND its pretty fast.
There isn't too much to compare for the 2*. Probably the calibur, I did enjoy that sword's charge attack, and the Leviathan is pretty nice. A very solid blade.
But otherwise, you're kind of comparing apples and oranges. Leviathan does only normal damage, so is probably better all around than the brandish line. Those, however, do half normal, half elemental/shadow, so will do notably more damage against the enemies that are weak to those damage types. If you specialize in swords, it's hard to go wrong with Acheron, Glacius/Combuster, and a Flourish. If you want only one sword, though, the Leviathan is usually the favorite, with Divine Avenger probably coming in second.
