We all want the gun update, we know that there are dozens of new guns, I am asking that OOO release some of what they have finished.
I'm not suggesting they release a massive portion, just enough to placate some of those who have waited so long.
Release a gun line and leave the players to grind that out for a while, this should buy you some time, allow for maybe even a costume promo, and lower the current strain on the gun update workforce.
If they release too little at a time people will just rage like the usual and say "OOO y u no release new content." Rather I think they're holding off on purpose so an update with content doesn't disappoint people and is an sk rerelease in a way to bring back all the older players.

Last I heard, they showed people what they had done on the test server a while ago, and there was a lot of mixed feedback on some guns feeling too good, for example.
They had a second showing, and some guns (ex: catalyzers) were more obviously found to be bugged.
Changes to mechanics for one gun might mean making changes and reorganizing code that (not related directly to the one you're changing) might have made assumptions on how the old mechanics worked. There can be a lot of work done just to make something act... well, the same way it used to before you started making changes.
Now, mechanics and tweaks aside, what if they just released a new gun as though it were a duplicate/reskin of an existing gun with the current mechanics, THEN released the gunner update to change the mechanics later? (ex: if a Piercing Catalyzer was planned and mechanics were changed to have catalyzer shots automatically tag adjacent enemies, then release the piercing catalyzer first as a new item, then change the behavior later with the main update).

IDK about this. I feel like it could get sloppy, if OOO started releasing bits of the gunner update early-- especially if they wanted to go back on it later in the update.
Just hoping that Arcade Redux is also part of this... Or maybe I'm horribly behind on news and arcade redux isn't part of it. (Just thinking since test servers were up like a month ago and nobody said anything about the redux...)

I think there's a good chance the update needs all the different parts to keep from temporarily imbalancing the game as they release it in chunks.
I have been gone from Spiral Knights for so long, I forget about this update... (note that I'm saying this in my weirdest voice possible. so read it in your weirdest voice possible.)
4* + 5* piercing antigua line... been waiting for this ever since the game came out on steam for crying out loud -_-
It doesn't take a professional game designer to figure out that this is a horrible idea.
I feel that while this may seem good idea in concept, in actualization, it may be more work for OOO to spit things up as they are now. Furthermore, releasing things in waves could cause people to feel excluded or less inportant if the guns they wanted were not released first, resulting in a net of overall more disappointment.
At this point I think it's best to let OOO do their thing and hope for the best.
