ever since I started playing this game 2 years ago, I loved it
But with all the new knight buffs (battle sprites, dash, chaos set buff, BKC, etc..) and all the monster nerfs (wolver tracking, zombie tracking, "normal, adv, elite" modes, etc..), this game is losing the challenge that it once presented to me
Of course it should happen naturally since the more I play, the better I get, and the easier it should be.
But making the game easier (than it already is) just because a bunch of new casual players (aka noobs) don't understand the game are raging about balance and difficulty (although they dont understand anything about those) is just dumb

Here's a video that explains exactly what I feel (for a different game, but exactly the same concept). (may contain coarse language, do not click if easily offended by certain words that aren't even directed towards you)

STOP MAKING THE GAME EASIER

:/

A game's difficulty is arbituary to the person who is playing it, I will take myself for an example, FPS games are my biggest weakness, I have a bad sense of direction and often get killed due to bad reaction time. But when it comes to 3rd person game such as SK I am perfectly adapted to it.

SK is by no means an easy game, I struggled alot at the start for not knowing which gears are the best for the enemies I am about to fight. Learning curve can be different from players to players and if you want a challenge then feel free to do danger missions and SL.

LEAVE THE GAME THE WAY IT IS

Now I just aggro a mob to attack me...then players thinking they can tank hits end up dead :)

PRO GOD TIER TIP:
Move out of the way.

Edit: I do miss the tracking of wolvers also

Funny, last time this game had a challenge people moaned and whined because the average 90% of the population couldn't use the standard brandish charge/blitz needle tactic they use to bully vanaduke.

And if they entered clockworks then people would just pull their hair out because then the game would be too hard for them. Bald people would just bust a grape out of anger or something.

Move this into suggestions.

Just have weapon charges taken out of the game, put mini's into arenas and make mobs get aggroed more often (gremlins stop and wander too much)

thumbs up. you're awesome!

And then every event, you have people moaning "O0o0ow0ooo why is this event so0o0oo hard" while I'm off soloing Grinchlin or something.

...

....

It's just too bad you're better at the game than a normal player after 2 years of playing the game :(

I know, it was hard for me to accept too, but I finally just sucked it up and well, it's the truth.

I'm just better than most normalf- er, normal people at Spiral Knights.
A lot of my friends are good at Spiral Knights.

You might be good at Spiral Knights too. Maybe.

Fun thing to think about:
Did you know that, despite it being a widely popular "casual" game compared to the "hardcore" PC games at the time, a lot of people have never finished Super Mario 1 (NES)?

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

This game is proving challenging again after taking a 3-4 month break. (Although I did still log in sometimes.)

Oookay maybe I don't use Brandish and Blitz...but w.e.

I think the game is at a good difficulty.
Players can currently not use all the perks to make the game harder.

Honestly after seeing the majority of how people use the various skills and gear that they are gifted, it doesn't surprise me that the developers are doing this kind of thing. Things like sprite skills and shield bashing especially... and they do still die often enough, even though things like heart attack and shadow cloak could drastically improve their chances of survival.

So to say "the game is too easy" is wrong, when looking at players on the whole because they range from ubermench to awful. The developers could work around this issue, but honestly its a hard one to work around period, and they've been trying to work around it for forever-- first with tiers, then with difficulty settings... the latter of which being largely the fault of the mission system, and the introduction of a linear story line. What I think would be cool- oh yes, we don't care about what I think. Righto. I'm a hypocritical idiot, thank god I didn't forget. I'll just stop here.

I guess i'm the 1% who doesn't use charges/has no blitz/does not use pet skill (still questioning why I even have my masker- that thing)/runs full chaos and actually stays for the whole t3 run. What's wrong with having damage max though? If I get hit even once I run the risk of almost dying, so to all the people saying this games easy (myself included) mobs can be sorta a minor challenge (if you do get hit) so its good play cautiously

> That face when Gorgos stole

> That face when Gorgos stole wolver tracking
> Still more everything else and only 2 "true" types of beasts
> When you realize most of tier 3, events, danger mission focus solely on shadow damage

Meh... the problem is that when OOO tries to make things difficult its the lazy unfair kind of difficult. What do i mean by this? well it would probably be something along the lines of: "OMGZILLIONSOFMONSTERSINSIDETINYAREASFILLEDWITHTRAPSTHATHAVEOMGDAMAGEOVER9000OLOLOLOLUMADBRO" instead of adding something that is legitimately difficult its like they are just tossing whatever they can into a single room, it doesn't even work either, players have many, MANY ways of controling large groups of monsters with a variety of weapons, like a good ol' shiver, an electron bomb, most brandishes, venom veiler, etc etc.

I'd like it if, for example, OOO would buff defenses so they can become relevant and the game wouldn't be just about about who can whack their sword harder and faster... i mean seriously, it takes very little for a player to kill a monster, and same way goes to monsters, you take about 4 hits from most regular monsters then you're down, the only difference is that most players can easily block/dodge monster's attacks if they have a bit of skill and know their patterns of attack.
With a proper fully defensive set you could at best take one or two more hits at the cost of losing your ability to 1 shot stuff with that shiny brandish/blitz, wich is just ridiculous and pointless.

If monsters would actually pose a more considerable threat to knights, say, being tougher and smarter or just getting a bit better at actually damaging you instead of just swarming lots of them hoping that it somehow adds some difficutly for the veteran players, just add some real difficutly that is fair both for monsters (GREMLINS HAVE FEELINGS TOO YOU KNOW) and players, it would also make the game much more enjoyable, players get tired easily when all they have to do is brandish charge the crap out of every living thing. It would fix some problems with deffensive armors on the way too wich is just friggin great.

But yeah, doing a change like that would require devs to make a new AI and rework the way that damage works, theres alot of stuff to have in mind, and in the end they will not be able to sell it to us in some Boxes for 5 bucks each.

Unless...

new DLC content! "THE CORE DEPTHS" Where everything is just like the normal clockworks but balanced.
there's new enemies, the strangers, they were behind everything, the swarm is revealed to be controlled by the gremlins who were trying to destroy the evil strangers and free cradle from their horrible and never visible hands. vanaduke is replaced by Basil, who reveals his true form and it inflicts every status on the game with its mace, yes he would sleep you too, along with a new status called "Stranger doom" wich makes you die after 60 seconds.
