Hey all,
I recently decided to try out commentating and recording some shadow lair runs. To kick things off, I've got a full solo DFV run (recorded well over a month ago, but only recently uploaded). If any of you are kind enough to spend the time watching and let me know what I might be able to improve, it'd be greatly appreciated!

One tip

Stop, because videos of this type are boring as hell. No offense ofc, but there is a lot more interesing topics to make video about than another boring sl run.

Another tip

Don't listen to twats the likes of Mtax. He's the kind that generalizes his personal opinion to the rest of the community. If I were to bother making a SL run I'd watch one of these videos first to know what to expect.

You need company!

In my opinion your video are a bit dulled but what could fix it is have friends come along if your video that can also talk, so its not only you talking but other people with their own opinion and talk about interesting topic during the play

Dont take my word for it just my opinion

Watched it

I just watched your run Noxy, and I enjoyed it a lot. But boy have things changed a lot since I use to solo DV back in 012 before the pets or the dashing, they just add a lot of extra fun elements/evasion to the mix.

Try to bring some friends along and run a little slapstick.

Short of just "watching" a SL

Short of just "watching" a SL video before jumping into their first Lair most players will overlook this, ignore the comments, and go find other videos.
(I did this with OCH, just turned off the sound and watched)

You could do weapons demonstrations (try a format similar to Chawkthree's vids) when the new stuff comes out.

You could do pvp (try something other than the typical "OMG I haz BKC/ perfect UVs and can farm noobs for damage, aren't I great"), but honestly unless you can show us something new and weird (vortex, cutter, sudaruska, and new shards in LD) most people will overlook you.

Limiting yourself to just one game can also limit your views, try minecraft or TF2 videos with a large bit of SK on the side.

"try minecraft"

DO NOT DO IT.

You'll get sucked in by the endless demand for new Minecraft videos. Quote TV Tropes: "Many gaming channels on YouTube won't do Minecraft videos because of the monomania demonstrated by Minecraft Fan Dumb, who keep downvoting non-Minecraft videos while endlessly shouting that they want Minecraft videos." You'll also most likely anger John Bain.

Try doing TF2 instead. They're generally bunch of laid-back fellows. (Unless you anger them.)

Alright, thanks for the

Alright, thanks for the insight. I was with a friend, but his voice wasn't caught in the recording - I'll fix that in the future. It sounds like the general consensus is
- Full runs aren't interesting to most people
- Keep it short and unique
- Cover new content ASAP

I'm not an LD player so that cuts out quite a few options, but your suggestions have been helpful... I think I get the gist of what I should be doing. Thanks again!

(And no need to worry about minecraft - not a minecraft fan, but I will eventually record other games)

If we look at the SK you-tubers with the most subscribers. Make lame videos about gear and enemies with information that's already accessible on the wiki. huehuehue.

Jokes aside, commentary seems to be popular and PvP has more variety than the same old predictable enemy monsters. Face cam makes you stand out even more. I've had people begging me to reveal my voice with some sort of commentary running in the background.

For PvE to be at all fun to watch you need to do some sort of challenge or beat a record. Because there's already so many videos of regular game play in PvE.
