Okay, anyone feel like giving me the uses and lack of uses versus the Mercuriall Set and the Chaos Set? Thanks for your time.
Well, time for armor debate, Merciual and Chaos Pros vs Cons
I meant I just wanted the pros and the cons of both sets, not them against each other (piercing vs elemental defense and damage vs movement speed don't compare due to differences) Thanks by the way. Really good reply.
Merc mail is great for getting out of the worst possible situation, getting shocklocked by numerous monsters, and with that MSI you can compound it with a swift steps pet perk and become a good fighter who can dodge faster than most.
Unfortunately the only pierce/shock monsters are voltails, alpha voltails, quicksilvers, silver polyps, power drops, and tortodrones (which are accompanied by fiends) all but one of these are considered "easy" monsters (power drops are iffy due to their habit of forming masses)
Chaos is for those who can dodge, if you cant you will bite the dust in a few seconds of entering any floor with a status. It would be far more productive to learn how to play with more defensive armors and then switch to Chaos much later.
For pvp Chaos is extremely common (don't forget hp trinks or anyone with shock/fire damage can drop you easy), Merc mail is ok but most pair it's armor with the BKC helm to keep speed up while getting a nice damage boost.
You forgot that Chaos gives every status effect negative. With full Chaos you're pretty much always going to freeze/flame/intoxicate/shock/curse.
@Itsmeandersonlol
Look at Mercurial's first pro vs Chaos.
I didn't forget. :s
MSI can be stacked to make you move incredibly quickly, which is incredibly useful for dodging and strafing better, especially when bombing. If you have trinkets and variants, then you can dodge about dropping bombs without putting yourself in harms way nearly as much. Handguns also work really well with this, because you can move out of the way faster, etc. Swords are less benefited, unless you have CTR and are using them for that business.
Chaos just gives you a ton of stats flat out, and forces you to play well or you'll die. If you overcome chaos's weaknesses, then you'll basically just end up over powered compared to your average build. This is great, but is completely apples to oranges when it comes to MSI buffs, which you will not have stacked up with your mountain of ctr and damage.
In the end, MSI and mercurial would win out because you can give yourself good stats via unique variants and trinkets, but then you could also just sell your very high asi very high ctr combuster and solve world hunger entirely with crystal energy. To expect to get endgame gear on everything is rather unrealistic, even if a possibility. So unless you have unlimited resources at your disposal, its a matter of playstyle- dodge more effectively and pull off crazy stunts? Or play the game normally, but with less defense and more offense?
Do you mean Mercurial or Mercurial Demo?
Bah, whatever.
Chaos set's pros vs Merurial:
• Huge universal damage bonus makes it the strongest armor set currently in the game. While there are other armors that also give +20% damage, Chaos is universal so it easily beats those.
• Charge Time Reduction: Very High to all weapons. Any weapon at level 10 obtains CTR Max even without UV's or trinkets.
• Very easy to get as all the recipes are in the Hall of Heroes.
• Can be mixed with another armor set to cut down some of its negative resistances while still giving Universal Damage Bonus Med and CTR Med.
• Elemental defense, yo.
Mercurial's pros vs Chaos:
• Max shock resistance is extremely useful, arguably the most useful status resistance we currently have. In contrast, Chaos gives negative fire, shock, poison, freeze, and curse resistance.
• Movement Speed Increase. This is a fun little bonus to play around with, and with the only sets that give it being Mercurial and Mercurial Demo, alongside Black Kat Cowl which doesn't have a matching body to go with it, it's a very unique bonus limited to very few armors.
That's about all I can think of...
