Making the Nodes more Interesting/Worth while

I've noticed plenty of people complain about the Node Crushers and Node Walls. And for good reason. They are just basic Sudaruska and Ironmight reskins.
But they hold fruitless color variations.

And I've been wondering something.
Why was this chance ignored to make interesting variations of the Sudaruska and IronMight? Like different status effects/resistance.

What would it be like to have variations that reflect Dusky, Divine, Military, and Toasty more accurately?
Would they really end up being overpowered/unbalanced. Or was it just an opportunity missed?

Like Toasty could have been a Volcanic Plate Shield and the Toasty Node Crusher being a Sudaruska-type blade that matches the Volcanic Shield's stat'ing.

(Would honestly love to hear what a GM thinks of this. Always been curious about choices made in development processes.)

Actually the sword has no

Actually the sword has no status thus it deals more damage than a Sudaruska. (fair trade)

The shield has more health than an Ironmight while the rest of the stats are the same. (unbalanced)

Going to go ahead and debunk you there, Holy-Nightmare to prevent confusion and lies:

The Node Slime Crusher deals the exact same amount of damage as the Sudaruska and even the Triglav. The Node Slime Crusher does in-fact have Stun, but it's only for the charge attack. It's been a well discussed topic before and really needs to be fixed personally.

The Node Slime Wall is a reskin of the Ironmight Plate Shield but in no way has more health than the Ironmight Plate Shield. All its stats are the same, you can even compare on the Wiki if you must.

As for the topic itself, I believe that reskins are perfectly fine and nothing is wrong with them. There was originally a debate on this yesterday on the Trade channel. The reason for the pure-reskins and not new stats are quite simple: People aren't happy with pay-for-chance equipment. The whole debate came up as the Equinox Shield was created: A Shield with only a 1.5% chance of obtaining from the Equinox Prize Box. Many people were unhappy and as such, I believe Three-Rings is just sticking with reskins as to prevent the hated from the community again.

As such: They are listening when they can.

Personally, i enjoy weapon reskins.
I like customization. And the fact that i'm able to be a slime beast thing, wearing headphones, that has slime weapons and pulsates with tendrils on my back is an A++ for creativity.

Well I only ask this because

Well I only ask this because I see much more people raging over them being just reskins then I do see people that rather enjoy them.

Granted I do enjoy the items myself, but the color variations seems a bit odd to me, and seems like it was a missed chance for something interesting.

And the issue with the Celestial Shield and the Equinox Box wasn't there 1.5% of getting the wonderful shield, but because it was about a 22% chance to even get an item specific to the box. People hated it because of the tickets, that was its issue.

But I myself being someone going into game development, I see this as an interesting chance to have given players more weaponry. As everyone always enjoys more variety. So I'm intereted to see if they had thought things like a Fire Sudaruska were overpowered. Or even to go and say because of how the Crushers are all heavy swords, that they didn't just take each color as a different blade. You know?
Like Cool be Trig. Divine be Avenger. That kind of stuff. Granted at this point that would require making different color variations to release, and basically boning anyone that had already opened a box out of possibly getting that kind of reskins.
But it is still an idea I am curious about.

It would not be a good balance

Unless similar weapons were released that are completely attainable through the crafting system, the weapons should not be given "unique" stats. Putting any weapon behind a paywall is a recipe for disaster in a game that is free-to-play. Heck, everything in the game is attainable if you're a free player, other than some costumes or other things that don't affect gameplay.

Having cosmetics be rare and sought after is much better than having a new weapon be rare and sought after, because then people's arsenals would be limited.

And as for the people raging over reskins, they'll be raging over every promo that comes out, as if promos have a negative effect on the company's ability to create gameplay content, and then they'll complain every few weeks when there's not a promo because there's no new content.
Plus the people who are happy don't usually go around shouting how happy they are about these items. They'll usually be more quiet and if it comes up in conversation, say "Oh yes, I love these reskins!"

The item celestial shield is not available to F2P players.

The stat bars lie again!

The stat bars lie again! (I.E. Gran Faust)

Oh well, I only went on what I saw in the AH, pity though, I was going to save up and try to buy on one.

I guess I'll stick with my Kaminarin for now, and maybe get an Ironmight one day.

My mistake...

The item celestial shield is not available to F2P players.

I more or less overlook the celestial shield as THAT item because as much as it is unique, it's not that helpful. Plus, in the same paragraph I say [p]utting any [item] behind a paywall is a recipe for disaster in a game that is free-to-play, which was quite evident when that shield first came out.

I would still rather it just be a reskin or have Three Rings introduce a shield that's craftable with the same stats, regardless of how useful it is. Three Rings could make a prize-box only proto sword that inflicts poison and people would still be upset, despite there being much better items in almost every situation. Hence, all prize box items need to be reskins, not unique items, no matter how useful.

But I have to point it out. Its the one unique shield (darkfang and other reskins don't count) that I don't have in my collection, and I'm not about to afford it. How could I not point it out? If OOO wants to make completing the collection require amounts of money for sweet nothingness then they have no right highlight how possible it is to collect all of the gear freely. That would be silly.

Hissss.

If the slime sword does more damage than the Sudaruska, it's a straight upgrade. The Stun proc is worthless due to its rarity and the Suda is just a hair away from being able to oneshot enemies with a charge on the lowest depths. Bah.
