Why do we need another accessory slot? Because of accessories like the Node Slime Containers. I believe that few armor front accessories clip when combined with the container. I'm sure there are similar accessories (to the containers) that go on the knight's shoulders and/or arms.
If not, then why not do this anyway? It allows for greater customization.
I've at least gotten a couple of agreements on the game. What say you, forum goers?
Accessory Slot: Armor Side
I completely agree there. While some costumes could get crowded, I do get a little dejected that chest and waist items can't be used at the same time.
So as a clarification, for you it would be
Helmet Top
Helmet Back
Helmet Side
Helmet Face Top
Helmet Face Bottom
Armor Chest
Armor Waist
Armor Top
Armor Aura
Armor Back
Armor Rear
Correct? I'd absolutely love for there to be customization like that.

That's how I would like to see it! I'd be willing to give up armor top for either armor chest or armor back if that's a little too much customization, but the others I'd like to see existing.
Quite a few armor pieces would be changed in this happening, and I could see Three Rings completely redesigning the accessory slots for every item, and classify new and old items under the new system.
I'll do a quick rundown of a few accessories for each slot (by looking at the accessory page and picking a few from each section):
Helmet Top - Birthday Candle, grand topper, halo, flower
Helmet Back - Plumes, long feather, ribbon (iffy here, but ribbons + flowers is cute),
Helmet Side - helm guards, vertical vents, mecha wings, com unit
Helmet Face Top - glasses, round shades, glow eyes, eye of fury
Helmet Face Bottom - mustache, pipe, party blowout, scarves
There are plenty of others, but these are a few examples
Armor Chest - Barrel bellies, crests, bomb bandoleers, monster pocket
Armor Waist - parrying blade, tomes of rage, canteens (maybe these could be lowered slightly)
Armor Top - Node containers, anti-personal spikes (new items could be added here, such as shoulder pads or a warm towel)
Armor Aura - Nothing really changes here...
Armor Back - Wings (all styles), vitakit, munitions pack, writhing tendrils
Armor Rear - Tails (all styles), side blade (why isn't this a bottom accessory as of now anyways? It clips with those so badly)
There are plenty of others, but there are a few examples
Any item that a player has that has an accessory on a slot that is changed or has an accessory moved to another slot would have their accessories removed and returned to them, and a mail from Spiral HQ would tell them what helmets and armors were affected(perhaps even put them in this mail). The mail would be sent to the knight the next time they log in to Spiral Knights, and would not have a simple "delete" option(accept and delete, or just accept).
@Fangel
There is no Armor Bottom, it's always been called Armor Rear. Aside from that, everything's fine by me.
I'd strongly support more slots. I was really annoyed to find that I can't use my new ammo backpack with a Side Blade.
quit saying petition, every suggestion is a petition in itself, it's no use to make petitions.
Armor front doesn't suffice what we really use. For armor pieces, we need: Armor waist, armor rear, armor top. Armor front would be renamed to armor chest, and armor bottom would become armor rear.
Waist is for things like books that don't collide with other chest items. This also opens up slots for belts, and allows cloak-like items to be able to wear the tomes of rage (I'm looking at you, grey owlite)
Rear is for things that already take up the armor bottom slot. Specifically, tails.
Top is for things that are more on our knights' shoulders. Anti-personal spikes could be added to this list, and the new containers would also fulfill this area.
For helmet pieces, we need: Helmet face bottom, helmet face top.
Face bottom is for things like mustaches, pipes, and now scarfs (they don't collide with other back accessories anyways).
Face top is for things like glasses, glow eyes, vees, and the prismatic dazzling gem.
Alternatively, keep the vees as helmet top accessories. (I just find it rather odd we can put a bolted vee on top of a dazzling gem. Kinda funny but looks weird)
