This is a recording of my weapon collection in Spiral Knights.
The purpose was to collect every 5* (or so) with its optimal variant, i.e. Flourish line weapons should have Attack Speed Increase: Very High while bombs should have Charge Time Reduction Decrease: Very High.
The status of the collection is almost completed. Gunner update weapons aside (which I had prepared for most beforehand), I only lack Deadly Splinter Bomb CTR VH. I've been stuck several monthes trying to find this one with no results. It's a bad weapon anyway.

The reason I am showing it now (despite it being slightly incomplete and Gunner Update not out yet) is that I will be selling those items, this is therefore the last time it will be this wide. This isn't a quitting/farewell thread, just a permanently available glimpse at my collection. You can find the entire list of gears for sale on my Bazaar Thread

Edit: I forgot to record my Static Capacitator CTR VH. It's a fairly elusive bomb, here goes. Also forgot a couple CTR VH Autogun that were meant to be a Plague Needle and maybe some other new autogun (winks). Lazy to screenshot, they're not worth that much anyway and they're easy to find.

In before curious people ask:
"Are you F2P (free to play)?"
- No, I did buy OCH and 4 or 5 elevator passes with actual money. Sue me.

I originally planned to collect all armor sets/shields with Elem/Pierce/Shadow or Normal Max, I started it but I'm considering stopping since I'm not even halfway through (40 items out of 100 or so). Collecting weapons was far harder anyway, I could just sell them all (and I am) and buy the armors, not really an achievement. I don't really play FSC, it's 99% merchanting money. I'm not saying it's faster but it definitely doesn't require as much focus in the game.

I reckon roughly 20% of my weapons were crafted. I did roll quite a lot but apart from the OCH weapons, everything was bought. It's much cheaper this way, my Dark retribution alone costed me 6m cr. Stats seem to show that getting the VH you want on a weapon costs 4.4m cr and that's clearly more than usual retail prices. I forgot who has the credits for those stats but they seem accurate.

I am not doing a give away because I'm not quitting the game, I'm simply parting with my collection (and to that extend all my equipment). Feels to me like SK isn't really about equipments or clockworks anymore, I have other projects for this game.

I was about to say this was cool until you said deadly splinter bomb was a bad weapon now I'll merely have to say it's kind of okay.

Sweet collection tho, can I ask how the heck you actually have this much stuff while still playing f2p
If you say merching I may have to die inside, I just can't get how to do that stuff.

I'm just at 2400-ish hours and I'm like you :\

Although I slap chaos set and swiftstrike + dmg trinket and spd on BS so I just have to roll ASI low on a sword to be ASI max (or gun, and mostly bombs)

Deadly splinter bomb IS a bad weapon though, as it is almost entirely worse than the alternatives.

Wolvers, grievers and silkwings are all weak to stun, and the other piercing weak enemies (with the exception of trojans) are all neutral to the status, so having stun is a huge benefit. The fiend very high buff allows you to stack CTR more freely, and makes the item much better in terms of comboing it with other things.

Dark briar barrage is slightly less damaging than deadly splinter bomb, but is more party friendly, predictable, easier to use and ultimately a near perfect counter to grievers. For the shard bombs to be more damaging, two shards or the core and one shard must hit. This provides only slightly more damage that only really becomes meaningful when you start to hit with the core and two shards.

I'll try and make a post about making money once I'm done selling everything, so that I can support my guide with actual proof of "richness". It's not that hard, it's just overtime, I've been playing for over 3 years now.
I agree with Fehzor, he's spot on for the reasons why Splinter bomb is so bad. It's just that everything else is better really. It's a pointless weapon, much like Cautery sword compared to its other 3* brandish siblings.
I can tell that my hour count is slightly higher than Fehzor's. Can't say it's all been very active or focused time but it was online time :)

So how do you do it exactly? "Merchanting" is a good start, but what exactly do you buy and sell and how do you do that? I buy and sell on the auctions, but I only have a few mill worth of items stored up, if even that.

I'll try and expand a bit

I'll try and expand a bit more on merchanting later but as far as I know there are 3 good ways, here's two of them:
- The classic buy low sell higher, I've been doing that for a while. There's just 2 ways of doing it: the good and the bad, will explain later the difference.
- Selling overpriced 4-5* gears on Auction House. It sounds silly and it's kind of deprecated since Supply Depot started featuring gears cheaper than unbind price but this mainly relies on exploiting the ignorance of players who can't work out the value of those items (4k ce * market rate for 5* items). I used to do that a lot, and it's surprisingly profitable. I could flip 150-300k cr per 5* item back then. You'd just buy some 5* from people getting rid 4.5-5k ce and list them on Auction House in favorable auction times, and boom! profit.

Had to roll over CTR High

Had to roll over CTR High Dark Retribution 5 times. It ended happily though with a CTR VH. I got real lucky with Hammer, I got ASI VH "straight" (after 500 tries) or so hence I didn't have to roll over CTR VH, which really isn't interesting at all.
